So cute!!! Thank you for sharing your watercolor pencil tips!!! You're giving us a delightful Christmas gift 🎁 today!!! I will enjoy whatever you create!!! Excellent teacher!!! Merci!!! A California Gramma ❤
This was so helpful! I've had watercolor pencils for quite awhile now and wasn't sure of all the ways I could use them. You've opened my eyes!! More water color pencils please! Thank you!❤
Thank you very much for this extremely helpful tutorial on watercolour pencils and the explanations on your techniques. You have a very pleasant way of talking👍🏻
I love this. Haven't used the sandpaper technique yet. I have seen another TH-camr take a blade to the lead to scrape bits of color on to a slightly wet surface to create random spots of color that melt into the painting but haven't tried your technique. So many wonderful ways to use the pencils.
Thank you Paula! I used this technique you describe in a much older hobbit door WP video and didn't like it as much so I didn't include it but now I think it could have been great for the snow flakes 🤔
More watercolor pencil please. I purchased a couple of pencil sets based on your recommendations in a past video and they are terrific. The sandpaper technique is my favorite. I tried to use the pigment left after sharpening a pencil but there are too many wood shavings epic failure.
Just to add one more option, that sandpaper technique works very well with Conte sticks, allowing an interesting range of extra tints to to be included. Although, as you said, apply to fully dry under layers of wash to keep control properly. I also find that I can use the sandpaper (or craft knife!) technique effectively with multiple colours, providing an extra mixing technique.
More WP! This is a great, concise summary of all the watercolor pencil techniques. Personally, I think that the "soul" of these pencils resides in the "color-activate" (great new phrase) method. IMHO using watercolor pencils only to grate and/or dilute them on a rough palette (got one, never used it) or picking up the paint with the brush from the pencil tip is kinda sacrilegious to the "penciltude" of the pencils. You might as well use watercolor. I had written a whole "tartine" then GAH... my tab crashed before I saved. Happens too often with my secure browser setup. I think I'll never comment on YT again!
