Can a renter who pays for an installation of EV charging equipment be eligible for the tax credit? Or, does it have to be the owner of the property? I ask because because the house I live in is owned by a family member but I will be paying for the purchase and installation. I’m just wondering if I need to have them do the purchasing so the receipts have their name on them and they file. Thanks.
Hey bro. This is super helpful. I just had a quick question. If I buy a used charger, can I still claim the tax credit just for the installation cost ?
Thank you Jason for the helpful video. I have a question regarding whether we can submit form 8911 in two consecutive years. We ended up purchasing the EV charger in December 2022, but won't have it installed until spring of 2023, where the electrical work will be the bulk of the cost. Can I file this form for my 2022 and 2023?
Thank your for the video. Question: If my vehicle does not qualify for the $7500 rebate, can I still be be reimbursed for the expenses of charging equipment+installation? (Car is an Audi e-Tron 2022 purchased 12/16/2022)
Does the cost of upgrading the electric panel, so the EV charger could be installed, count towards getting to the $1000 max? Charger could not be permitted without upgrading the panel.
I don't use Form 6251 for the alternative minimum tax, so what the heck to do I enter on 8911 for line 17? Do I seriously have to do another form in order to complete this form?!
Unfortunately, yes. Every taxpayer needs to calculate their federal taxes using regular tax rate tables, and then also calculate their potential taxes under the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) regime. The IRS wants you to pay the higher of the two balances...
My CPA told me that my households combined income was too high to qualify for this credit. Everything I have read does not indicate that there is an income cap. Should I get a new accountant?
Do you still think the form 8949 is the best option for selling used personal items for an individual(not a business) that was sent a 1099k from PayPal? The owner knows they lost money, they are just not sure how much. Thanks
THANK YOU! This form is awful and you saved me hours of tears.
Glad it was helpful!
You're a legit life saver with these hyper-informative videos.
Thank you!
You're welcome!

What if I just install a NEMA 14-50 to use the Mobile Charger that comes with the car?

Does the IRA law allow the 30C credit for 2022? I am reading conflict information saying effective in 2023. Some say 2022 is still allowed now.

Does anyone have an answer to this question? I have the same situation.

Will the form 8911 be extended for the tax year 2022?
Great information. Is there a chance that this gets renewed for 2022? If so - how could we find out?
A bill was introduced to extend these types of credits through 2025, however, there has been no progress in Congress for passing the bill.
@@JasonDKnott What about the extension in the IRA? is it the same?
Can you do a video on form 8910
Yes! We will add it to the queue
How would you fill out section II if you’re going to use this for business use?
