Get yourself a Sangean sr-35. You'll be blown away by how good that one is. I have the p27, its...eh. Usable with the speaker, unusuable with the headphones. But good reception. But i think the headphone jack is defective, so its goin back.

I must disagree. With respect. The problem with analogue radios is it’s a guessing game what frequency your on without a digital display. I stopped buying those 20 years ago. Only radios with a digital frequency readout for precise tuning. And Sony is a fine brand. But I have bought “Sangean” radios for many years. They do have minor problems. But I have to say they are incredibly sensitive in the short wave bands.
I have the p27 and theres only about 2 differences. Its a dsp radio and the p26 isnt. And the numbers are a little more spread out on the p26, its more clumped together on the new one. They are both very good radios. But i prefer the new model.
Can be used without connection to cell towers, uses pure wireless. Never buffers on signal because it is a 2 way signal, lasts upwards of 90 hours on 2 AA batteries… just a few reasons
