    Bones makes a SPF 84 B, which is the equivalent to 104 a, which is honestly insane for me to know that there is a wheel harder than those 😂😂 they have such a weird feel to them!! I think 95-99a is the way to go. This video was sick! Skateboarding needs more videos showcasing the pros and cons to all their products, makes you feel good about what you're buying! Thanks for this :)

      Who told you that 84b was equivalent to 104a ? You fell for one of the biggest gimmicks in skateboarding that I thought was exposed and over with..... There is no such thing and never has been as 104a all wheels that are marked higher than 100a are FAKE gimmicks.... The industry was exposed more than 14 years ago over this..... But companies are looking for suckers that don't know better every minute....... Any company that pulls this crap should be boycotted..... They have made millions off of innocence and ignorance.....

    • @diddymelone2265
      @diddymelone2265 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Afaik there are other scales than the a scale and the b scale does rate lower, so 84b would indeed be harder than 99a for example, but you are right that it's mostly marketing.
      Durometer ratings should only be used as reference points, because they are wildly inaccurate.
      For example if you ever tried mini logo wheels, you will notice their 101a wheel is definitely softer than many 99a wheels of other brands.
      I actually like the 104a spf wheels, because they feel great in indoor parks and despite being hard, they don't slip out at all. In fact they are rather grippy. But they are totally jarring on street.
      So it is not possible for wheels to be 103a or something, but they can technically be harder than 100a, you'd have to use another scale then.
      But in reality the wheels we skate, even the hardest ones, are more like 90-97.
      Measurements over 90 are very inaccurate.

    Been skating Ricta Clouds for 3 years. 78a 86 and 92 (56mm) but 78 is my favorite if I'm just skating transition and doing ollies. 99a+ feels like skating marbles to me I feel every crack

      @idmhead0160 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm with you. I mainly just ride asphalt hills by my house. I have some Bones STF 103A V5s. Definitely like skating on marbles and pretty damn dangerous on hills IMHO. Way too slick. Absolutely no cushion at all. Mini Logo 90A or 95A are much more tolerable. The 101As aren't as hard as the Bones, but, still not my cup of tea. 80A AWOLs are pretty awesome for cruising.

    • @idmhead0160
      @idmhead0160 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got the Dragons today. I've been skating 80A AWOLs which are great on rough ground. I bought several pairs recently. Kind of wish I would have got the Dragons before doing so though. They are pretty darn cool wheels. They seem good for just cruising around. Not harsh like hard wheels. But, indeed they are nice and slick. Good for power slides. I like them. The only thing I'm worried about is durability. I got a small chip in one of them already. But, admittedly, that was after a couple hours of doing almost nothing but power slides. One thing I would like to see though, is for Powell to make bigger ones. I got the 56mm V6 Wide Cut ones. I think the contact patch is 22mm, which is still narrow compared to something like AWOLs which are more like 35mm. I'm hoping Powell uses the formula in additional wheel shapes. I'm not really a huge fan of the Bones shapes. The ones I got work good though. They seem like a really good mix of being soft yet sliding good. They aren't bullsh+tting when they say that. It really does work. At least on the rough asphalt that I tried them on.

    I think theñose experimental 95a wheels could made skateboarding more inclusive and accesible for developing countries. I live in Costa Rica and can confirm that most of the street spots surfaces are rough. As a matter of fact, I used to skate the 103a STFs (because I like to powerslide a lot, and those wheels can last a lot while doing that) up until the 99a STFs came out. I switched as soon as I could to make my life/ride a little bit easier, still be able to slide and have a durable wheel.

    If the wheels have grooves when they are new, that probably is affecting the slide. It sounded like they had grooves when you were trying the powerslide test. Once the grooves wear off, they will probably slide a bit different. All that said, you could probably sit on a crook with shark wheels... lol. I usually stick with 101 hardness because I need lipslides and boardslides to work on ledges without a ton of wax.

      @@ZachDoelling I got the 56mm V6 Dragons today. They are a really fun wheel. Tested them on a medium rough asphalt hill today. Did a bunch of power slides. They work good. Personally, I cannot stand hard wheels for riding on asphalt like that. I have some Bones 103As and found that to be completely unusable for that. The Dragons on the other hand are pretty excellent. I also compared them to Mini Logo 90A and 95A. Dragons definitely slide way better. The Mini Logos are a lot stickier. The only thing I'm concerned about is durability. I already have a small chip out of one after only a couple hours of skating. Though admittedly, most of that time was spent doing nothing but power slides. Personally, I would like to see Powell use this formula in wheels in other shapes. In particular, it would be nice if they made a wheel that had a wider contact patch. The widest Bones shape is only 22mm, which is still pretty narrow. I'm not doing real skating like you are though. I'm an old timer riding around on hills. The Dragons aren't really designed for that. So, I can't really fault them. Also, the wheels are $42 which is a bit on the high side. That's fine if they hold up, but, if they don't, that's a bit pricey. I never tried the 99A Bones. So, I can't compare to those, but, softer wheels are a dramatic improvement over the 103A ones on rough ground. It's about time, someone made a soft wheel that can slide like that. Good job Powell.

Just really depends on your terrain and what you are trying to do with them, but it does make a huge difference when you are that dialed in. On a side note, still trip out on your McGill reissue video. Crazy how easy you made that look and how you were able to keep that smooth style 👊🏼

    Thanks for the explanation. My regular skate has 99a, seems normal. Trying to find wheel hardness on my Andy Anderson 7 ply I bought online, complete, assembled from TGM, I realized there is no info. Worse than that, the truck axles are a full 1/2 inch narrow. Can't return it, so I need to get the 169 trucks it should have, and a deck for these 8.63 trucks. Everyone learns at their own pace, buyer beware. I should have taken a better look way before now, but who can have too many boards?

    • @ZachDoelling

    Bones Bombers are a great cruzer board wheel because they’re super smooth/soft and you can power slide at any speed. With ceramic bearings you can easily beat a scooter 🛴 and pay respect to you health.

    Such an interesting episode! I have always skated the hardest wheels I could find, STF's have been a long time favorite, mostly for durability but also because of the feel sliding and grinding. I think if the durability is just as good and the feel is basically the same, there's no reason to stay on super hard wheels anymore! This should count as a PSA. Way better than the company harassment policies I had to do this morning...I have to call HR to change my pronouns to It and they...

    I've seen a lot of skaters mention they hate square rails, at least for grinds. I've only got a square rail at my local, should I not even bother trying to learn any grinds on it and stick to slides? Are square rails just harder or what
