Congratulations on the new tow rig, and thanks for the honesty on what it has cost, as you may know there has been someone else who recently upgraded from their 79 and did not want to share. Can’t wait to see the new tug. When do you head to tassie
That's why we choose to share ! Everyone watches to see how it is done and what it costs. No good doing this if your not up front. If you put your life up here and want true followers at least answer the questions even if its in private. We have booked Tassie for mid November this year. We just have to make sure we are still in out lengths. But can't do that till the new rig gets here and the canopy is fitted. We are pretty sure we are right but really need to check. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Excellent choice. We have just brought a new silverado 2500. We have just travelled up to Exmouth and south lefroy beach. Towing is stressless, comfortable and reasonably economical . We have come from a 200 series landcruiser which was a great car but I always found that the caravan (22' 3.5tonne boroma) controlled the car whereas the silverado controls the van. Yes they are big but you get used to the size. It is easy to adjust up 👍.
Yes our stretched 79 was a lot heavierand bigger than standard and it was great to have the van behind. The bigger the tow rig the better it tows a van. We can't wait to get it. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
I look at the cost of say a new 300 chopped and extended, then a canopy you would be lucky to keep it under $240+. It still has a little 3.3 v6 which has had the wick turned up to produce the power of the 200 series v8. They still have factory drive train, wheel' bearing etc. 2500 /3500 hd is designed to tow big loads and leaves the landcruiser /y62 for dead. Yes more expensive but not if you are doing a chop etc to a Japanese vehicle.
Given that the vehicle has to be converted to RHD $188,000 AUD/$127,000 USD is not a bad deal. My 2024 Ford F450 King Ranch (6.35T GVM, 14.8T tow rating) cost me $102,000 USD on the road here in Maryland USA.
400,000km is only 250,000 miles. The B10 (only 10% will have a major issue) rating for the diesels in the big 3 are: - Duramax 6.6: 220,000 miles - Cummins ISB: 250,000 miles - Powerstroke 6.7: 500,000 miles
Well done folks. We have a 2022 3500 and love it . I use it as my daily, such a beast regularly towing 4-6 ton with it easy. More economical than my 79 I had, and not much worse than my V6 Ranger. They just make so much sense these days.Look us up when your in Tassie👍
Thanks when we hit Tassie we we let you know. We can't wait to get the new rig and get back on the road. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Nik your hair looks beautiful.... Congratulations on the new car. It is all very exciting and frustrating the lead up to sorting it all out to make it all come together. At least trucks get a bigger turn around and access to the bowers. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Congratulations with your 3500 RAM choice. We have only just picked our 3500 up 2 weeks ago 😍 we love it and had many of your thoughts when deciding which one to buy. While you are waiting for your RAM we are waiting for our Urban van to be built..... Not long now 🤞 and it will also give us time to get some mods done on the RAM. Got my Chev modded to 5.5t GVM with a 12,474kg GCM, still good choice with the RAM 3500 and you can get their GVM modded to 5.8t

Anyway
All good
I just randomly found your site last night
It’s great
U and Nicky r awesome
I love the new rig
Towing will be so much better / easier with the Ram
Your reasons for buying this are spot on
To me, it doesn’t make sense to buy a Patrol or LC, and then spend heaps of $$$ on modifications etc, if u r going to tow 3 tonne, or more, regularly, and particularly for long interstate travel etc
A 3500 is heavy duty direct from factory
It’s a big investment, but worth it
And, a vehicle like this is something u do keep long term
I suspect it’s resale value in five or more years, will be very good
So, u get a good $$$ windfall / payback, at this time…
Hope all is good with the canopy
Wishing u happy and safe travels in the Ram. 👍
