This beautiful man is helping me so much on my journey and recovery from anorexia,this has been my my life situation for nearly 30 years,and things got bad two years ago,and that put me on the path to recovery. My neighbour gave me a lend of his copy of The Power of Now,which I couldn't even concentrate on until just recently,and I found it made so much sense,and have been watching Eckharts videos ever since. Life has changed so much,still getting there but life is so much better💖

Infinite Intelligence told me to honour the sacredness and divinity of all living beings, however in the name of spiritual evolution yes we must respect our elders if they have abilities, qualities or achievements that elicit respect but if they have old outdated ideas and beliefs that are holding us all back from awakening then those ideas and beliefs have to not be honored anymore so we can evolve.

@@sohamhamsah1082 Evolution of society... Ah, the joy! Society is a collection of ideas elaborated on by generations and generations of clueless human minds that has manifested into what it is today. There will always be catastrophies right beside the positives all the way through. Until, one day, the negative will engulph the positive. For example, If there is better health care in the West, there will be degrading health care in more places in Africa, and generally, there will be no inclination to help them due to the tribalism innate in all people to some capacity.
It's refreshing to listen to subtle humour regarding the one thing many of us dread - ageing!!

I believe intuitively my body aging is a reflection of what Beliefs I'm holding on to, related with aging in appearance. And as I become more aligned & Conscious, I accept my unlimitedness. Therefore I am not holding on to past repeated "old" beliefs in aging.
And I am free to align with agelessness, or aging.. it's always a Choice, once AWARE I can Choose.
Nothing is happening randomly or accidently.. that's unconsciousness reflecting lack of Self-Awareness. 💖 💖
I'm getting more hansom as I get older . So there.

Just because we are conditioned to see a specific type of beauty as beautiful, doesn't mean that only that specific type is beautiful. If you genuinely see yourself as beautiful from the inside out, others will look at you in the same way, because the world reflects your perception back to you.
We've chosen to be in this body and we should be appreciating and loving our body in every way and on every stage of our life, because without the body we wouldn't be able to be on this spiritual journey on earth.

Literally and figuratively.
My Son has a facial difference and he told me the other day that getting old isn't going to hard for him because he has finally accepted who he is and how he looks 🙂 He's always been wise even as a little guy. I always thought he has been here before 🙃 He told me accept the way you look Mom or do something about it He said I can't change my face. It was very difficult for him in high-school it was a nightmare really 😳 but he is starting to deal with it all. I see him on the verge of coming out of his shell ❤ I think society is way to hung up on looks I see alot of young people who are full of anxiety 🤔 I think what is helpful is to develop a inner life or should I say find yourself. My Grandmother always said to me find yourself honey 🙂

This question about looks and time-passing is something I've been thinking the last two weeks and had me uneasy. Today is my bday, I'm a couple years apart from turning 30... it's crazy the amount of social pressure about life and being on time for everything, especially when you are a woman. I feel like the 'presence' you speak of is a reflection of how in tune we are with who we really are, our infinite intelligence, and when we remember that we are an extension of Source, God, or the Creator. Our light shines brighter and our countenance literally changes when we continue to be in tune with the Divine.

This is the truth, that many elderly people are not very wise because they do not chose to be aware. Many of them do have much life experience and life has humbled them so in that way they are wise, but not in the sense that they are profoundly wise.
Many of us are young people, foolish, unaware and unwise who grow old and may or may not learn certain lessons as life presents them. But awareness can work any moment, at any point in life. If you are aware you can be very wise regardless of age. And practicing awareness over time can reveal this deep inner wisdom as we age.
I agree, discovering own yourself is a big task but when you have done it- life is more smiley and beautiful!!!
Also like how question isn't whether or not to apply makeup or whether that's about ego but rather am I here now. If I'm here now, applying makeup isn't a prob, nor is not applying it! Thank you, Eckhart, for all the teaching. 🥰

A beautiful explanation of the relationship of the passage of time with human vanity, revealing a misinterpretation of the meaning of the body itself that makes many unhappy. Personally, I have been free from such false enslavement for a long time, I no longer feed my ego with it 💖

Great tips that are doable and that I can apply to my daily life.
When reading those 3 words presence is beauty, I could actually feel my body change, a type of peaceful drop in my stomach 🤔🙂👍
One thing I've learned about scrolling down through the comments after an enlightening Eckhart video... just don't. Most of us are looking for reaffirmation of our own perspectives and hoping someone else shares it, but there's more spite and anger than there is love and hate, at least in my experience. Let's not resort to the peanut gallery to interpret his message for us. He's obviously not a prophet, nor a God, and never claims to be; he's just gifted with a vocabulary and patience to capture our attention and speaks a universal truth.
To paraphrase: ‘Time exists and it doesn’t exist. It is like a criminal that we cannot catch, who leaves the evidence of their crime in the present moment.’ Eckhart delivers the most extraordinary truths in the most ordinary manner.
"The reason why we live from moment to moment, not from day to day, is because
we can't see how things really work. That's why we can't predict what will happen next week or
month or year. However, we can see how things work in the big scheme of things. We can see
infinity in this small piece of infinity."

Good point, Endri! It's often driven by unconsciousness and the ego. The so called "beauty" has been shaped by sexism, racism, classism, etc.. This leads people developing eating disorders, getting makeup with toxic ingredients, plastic surgery leading to death, serious side effects, diseases. It's a form of violence towards people, incl girls and women.
We get inner liberation once we stop judging others with external features and factors...

I'm in my 60's now and in the US we have become to be viewed as a hindrance, a nuisance, a burden and an inconvenience. When I was young I revered my elders because I was taught the wisdom of respect for those that had made it to "old age." Sadly the younger generations have somehow missed this element of respect for older generations.

Does this account for how aging Buddhist teachers become only sparkling eyes? I've wondered if some type of eyedrop (as part of a Buddhist tradition) changed the appearance of their eyes. Not sure if they become more sparkly or become very dark, but the eyes dominate my perception of their faces. Anyone know what I mean?

My belief is that the higher self doesn’t see any particular form as beautiful. Human ego is what discriminates, and creates beauty standards. Just look at how much they vary in history and culture. So I doubt it makes much difference to our source when we manifest what we look like. On the higher plane, we are all equal regardless of our forms.
Please have a lecture in the Netherlands or somewhere in europe would love to be there

I am questioning "Now" sort of thinking...perhaps we need the wisdom from the past to inform our theories of what to do for the future. If you live ONLY in the NOW, you forget the past and repeat old mistakes, you ignore the future and no preparations are made for the needs you will have tomorrow...perhaps that is "short-sighted"? Reflection and contemplation can be tools to move time into more of a continuum than a moment.
I never noticed that Eckhart closes his eyelids maybe 100 times per minute!
