If anyone was going to find a way to work this pitch out, there was a good chance it'd be them (Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood). So they cut out width. They shortened lengths. They took pace off as often as they could. They bowled cutters. They found reverse. In short, they sacrificed conventional, more glamorous methods and bowled a little ugly. It wasn't always stirring viewing - like that matters - but they kept a batting order that had hit 397, 410, 326 and 357 in their last four games to four boundaries in total after the powerplay. Four. It's so incredible it bears repeating. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, four boundaries after the powerplay.
Your discounting of this Australian team's ability seems irrational and frankly performative at times, but claiming Rohit Sharma, who's won diddly squat, is a better captain than Cummins, who's won just about everything there is to win, just takes the cake as your most absurd take in this vein.
Reminded me a bit of watching Engand (football) in vital World Cup games - there always comes a point where you can see the players collectively freeze under the weight of the occasion.

Lost their first two quite badly, got off to a bad start against Sri Lanka, 91/7 chasing 293 against Afghanistan, clung on with nearly 400 on the board against New Zealand, struggled in a chase of 214 in the semi, then they absolutely dominate India in the final. The format allows time for the big teams, but Australia really took advantage, a bit like the T20 World Cup in 2021.

Congratulations Aussies 6th time world champion. What a team. The greatest cricketing nation in the history of cricket. No team in the history of sports have dominated the sport like Aussies have dominated cricket. Even though the conditions weren't in their favour, they played extremely well to beat the conditions.
This brazen interference on part of BCCI to bulldoze ICC into playing the matches on used pitches instead of preparing a new one cost us the world cup.
Man to man, this was the very best of batting and bowling India had at their disposal. If played on a fresh batting wicket, I am certain, it would have been to India's advantage. But this unnecessary interference cost the nation and relegated the match to favour the team chasing with dew on ..
It was a dick move and they should be held accountable for costing us a certain well earned trophy.
And still the sheer arrogance that there was a reason other than simply being outplayed by Australia. Like cry-babies blaming the toss without realising that regardless of who won the toss India was batting first. If the team chasing was favoured here why did Rohit say he would have batted? Instead of coping you are looking for someone to blame or an excuse for losing. It’s sport, the better team on the day won. Now grow up and learn to lose graciously - you and your countrymen and women are embarrassing yourselves.

I think they wanted Australia to bat first and get untangled on that dust bowl like they did in Chennai, but aus bowled fantastically well.
And then giving india the shiny new balls that swung miles probably backfired as well cs once that was weathered the ball just came onto the bat nicely 😂

India changed the batting order and bowling order. Jadeja ahead of SKY and Shami ahead of Siraj. Both didn’t work very well.

Jarrod, I think that 8 Indian players had close to their worst game in the final. The Aussies were good enough to cash in on this statistical improbability:
Shreyas edged as he stayed back - fear of the short ball.
Gill played an uncharateristic loose shot.
KL prodded away, and dropped the mighty anchor.
Jaddy and Sky got exposed.
Spinners didn’t take any wickets.
Shami was wayward.
Siraj was visibly lost.
Only Rohit, Virat and Bumrah held fort for a bit.

Australia had the conditions in their favour because they read them correctly, and put them in their favour by making the bold and unpopular decision to bowl first.
It was a very slow and dry pitch. So no way the conditions were in favour of the Aussies. They are used to fast and bouncy pitches. They beat the conditions by playing extremely well.

The thing about head is he is a striker. He isn't like virat or Rahul whose gonna wait to settle down before he takes you down. He will strike you every chance he gets. That can look and sometimes is actually out of control as people say. But im sure, if anybody showed intent the way head did by hitting three 4's in the first over to freaking bumrah, he would seem out of control. Same applies to maxwell. His is a bit too much, he looks reckless and like he wants you to get him out, so he can go home.

Saturday evening The pitch was bounce tested with tennis balls and an end had a little bounce...so it was rolled to make it dead...it was made sure that the pitch had no bounce or pace...I guess it was ICC and Cummin's plan to do it and play on a dead wicket...😂...Power needs to bring responsibility rather turning you into an autocratic demigod...The way BCCI handled pitch, conditions, fixtures, ground conditions and opponent teams in this event... It was disgraceful...Still they could not win..In sports you have to bully the opponents through performance... Not with performance and Support of everything else...Karma will eventually kick in...but It very very funny... 😂😂😂

I thought this was the main channel??? I used to think Head was overrated (re: Tests) and that someone like Maxwll or even Handscombe were much better choices. Time has probably proven me wrong (still have a lot of time for Handscomb (I am NOT Victorian "wash your mouth out")). There was a poll in the SMH (& probably Age) and India were considered 9% to 31% I agreed. I am glad I didn't put money on the game. I am no expert but I consider this Indian team the best since the 2007 Australians.
Both Ash and Shardul could have played instead of surya and Siraj. Totally different look. Lots of options.
I was happy to see Australia win the toss and bat, and I'd been thinking about it for days before the final. I know, what do I know, as an amateur pundit? What worried me was India's confidence in chasing, and I just had that awful feeling that even if Warner, Marsh, Head went crazy and we set 400, that India's batting lineup would relish the challenge under lights. When they know what par is, where the bar is, they back themselves to be that little bit better than the opposition was. No, far better to send them out first, make them feel out the pitch, worry about what a par score is, put the SPECTRE of Warner-Marsh-Head-Maxwell chasing in their heads rather than the real thing. And that spectre includes the uncertainty, will they fire or not? Will just getting runs on the board be enough or not? Then it's the pressure on India's bowling attack to defend. They, in particular, have been too good and too comfortable this tournament, and not had to solve problems. And I just felt like, for all their bowling talent, and for all our batting foibles, Aus had the ability to put them under pressure and worry them like that hadn't been so far this tournament. And from there, capitulation might come. The fear of Maxwell around the corner, when he's not in yet, helps stem the growth of any assurety or self belief in the fielding side when they get a few things right
What advice did you give Maxwell for the Afghanistan game? Do you think our middle order is weak or inconsistent? It seems Smith's salad days are over. Maxell is very inconsistent and despite his fine innings in the final Marnus doesn't fill me with confidence. Stoinis even less so. Maybe Green will come good and Hardie will be introduced (I am NOT a Sandgroper). It was a really, really fine performance. However, may I just say, Please bring on the Test matches! I have missed them.

The only thing India must start doing now as a team is show intent no matter what. It will hurt a lot less, but never go back to this approach of going into a shell and be defensive. It’s a mindset change more than anything else. They all have the skills, tactically some decisions may work and some may not work… but a positive intent is the key in all situations. If you go down fighting then so be it.

Just want to know why Rohit wasn't using more of Bumrah and Shami and letting Siraj, Kuldeep and Jadeja give so many runs. Bumrah and Shami were bowling very good.

@my_father_sorry_i_am_lying_now that's no excuse every team has had to deal with this situation in every match. Pitch condition cannot be used as scape goat and India is playing home conditions, which should have allowed them to judge the pitch better in the first place
Gavasker says pitch is the same for everyone post semi final against New Zealand. And, the same guy recommends to have best of 3 finals for World Championships. Best thing is to let Rohan Gavasker coach team India.

KL Rahul is the worst. He either doesnt show up in big occasions or shows up just to make a terrible thing. He doesnt have a great nerves, to think smart and to act tough, instead he went into a shell and that cost us more.
He did top score. If he got out early, Indian total would have been less than 200

Every one analyses why india lost. My reason is selection of indian team. You need leaders. lack of leaders mean all you have mentally weak players. SKY is unfit for ODI . They keep picking him based on T20 heroics. KL rahul failed badly in t20 world cup yet he walked straight into team. Shreyas Iyer cant play well under pressure. Gill is waste of spot. Jadeja is worthless player in ODI and T20. he is still good in test matches. I blame Rahul dravid coaching. he is a mental midget
