Really enjoyed the video - Loved seeing the fountain and sculptures. It's always surprising when I found sculptures in Italy that weren't done by an artist born in Italy; this one was done by a Flemish born: Here's a bit of background on it: The fountain, also known as “The Giant” is located exactly in the ancient center of the city, at the intersection of the 2 main roads in the city in Roman times. The entire sculpture was created in bronze and stone in the years 1563 to 1567 by Flemish-born sculptor Giambologna. It was commissioned in celebration of Pope Pius IV by the Pope’s nephew Charles Borromeo. Bologna is known as the food capital of Italy and my mouth was watering just looking at the pastas. I will go there to admire the city and to eat, eat and eat!
I love your videos (as someone who only can aspire to delve into van life at the moment) but this Italy content has to be some of your most fascinating content. Travel is what it's all about and getting to see Italy from a van/camper is amazing! Please produce more of this content. Oh yeah, and keep showing us all the food
OMG! You were right behind my house! Next time I’ll take you to the real Bologna world! And If you want to see Dolomites I can show you where to go with the van and what Dolomites are real known for! I’m a Trekking Guide and it would be a huge pleasure to meet you, guys! Wish you Love, Coffe and tons of storage! ☺️
I concur with your recommendation that there is a need for improved campgrounds in the USA that is easily shared and learned from "best practices", AKA common sense, to serve the needs of users with automation and to dump in ease. 👍🤔
I hope you'll consider shipping your Storyteller to Europe. I could use the advice of someone I trust. After all, I did buy an LT after watching your videos.
An add for an automated campground popped up on my FB feed awhile back. I think it might have been in GA since we were planning our trip to FL and looking for places to stay overnight. From what I remember it was rather pricey.
Hi guys your seems you're not going to be at the rv show in san juan capistrano, ca tomorrow ? I got one of your books to get signed from you , I hope to meet you at person when you are back in California, have fun 👍 😊 thanks guys for be part of many families including me.i don't say mine cuz I'm by me self 😊

Your Camper-Van Shorty looks nice and a bit "stealth".😁 The Renault Camper Van is a 5,50 Meter (🇺🇸 18 inch) has a small inside and outside, but his parking possibilities are great. In Europe, there are RV Pitches (Sites?), they are only for Camper-Vans and Motorhomes ( 🇺🇸Class C, B, A). Travel Trailer, 5th Wheels are not allowed. The RV Sites are very basic, often they have no ⚡ Electric hook up or water and they are cheap, compare to USA prices ( €/UDS 10 to 25/night. Camping / Camp Grounds are larger and have a better standard. They accept all kinds of RV's and they are higher priced. Most Campgrounds in Europe do not have "full hook up" and 30amp/50amp connections, like 🇺🇸 KOA's. The Camper Van parking possibilities are different in each EU 🇪🇺 State. Swiss, sweden, norway, finnland, scottland, allows more rv boondocking, in Italy it is not allowed.
While it is nice to have an english menu, beware that restaurants can often charge more for customers using an english menu vs. the italian one. Nice to know about the entry and exit fees in and out of town, yikes!
If the restaurant has toilets you can use them if you are are dining there. Often there are not many public toilets. The restaurants are great if you are coeliac or gluten intolerant as they will accommodate you.
It’s really not a campground per se… The only amenity is the bathroom and dump in a large lot… it’s like a pay park… there had to be a more descriptive name to call them, right?
WTR,,,,,HELLO,JIM and KAIT,, JIM,IS THAT RENAULT,5,or 6 speed ?I’ll bet diesel too, so just what the ‘power situation is ? Good for you so far you will always be driving on the RIGHT,, CanKAIT drive a manual,? HEY that public Fa Sy,on the lot,I was SO SURPRISED,to see a BIDETTET. !
Hey Joe, are you working on book #3 yet? Kate, I thought the international rule was that if the wife dumps the cassette in the US then the husband has to do it in Europe.........
well ,that is not exactly a "campground" we call " Area sosta camper " a place where basically you have basic service ,cheap but efficient .A campground with all services and usually even restaurant or pizzeria in are called "Camping" and of course more expensive .Two people a van for one night is around 25 /35 euros
Very relaxing to watch you guys. Keep in mind that every time you pay with digital money you vote for a no cash world, a world that can restrict your travel and our life. In a no cash world, your digital money will not work outside of your town due to the climate change, pandemics and God knows what bs’s. Cash money equals liberty and libety to travel. Love from Romania.

Love this Euro travel series! Did you ever hear back from the Van rental company about being able to choose a van that suits you?

That 4x4 Showhauler you were lusting over, 6 years ago, during your factory tour...I think it is for sale :)
Oh? Way too big for us now but that’s awesome
It’s really not a campground per se… The only amenity is the bathroom and dump in a large lot… it’s like a pay park… there had to be a more descriptive name to call them, right?
ZTL means limited traffic zone.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
next time you come in Italy you can joint me in tuscany , i built a diy pick up camper and i can drive you to visit the region
👏🏼👍🏼🖖🏼🍻
ZTL stays for Limited Traffic Zone / Zona a Traffico Limitato
👍

Yep 6 sped diesel
His name is joe not jim😂
Which app/website you used to book campgrounds?
So for lunch you guys had bologna sandwiches for lunch, right? 😀😀😀. How bad is Joe “jonesing” for a Ducati? Looks like your having fun.
Pretty bad! And yes, Bologna in Bologna.
Will you be doing wild camping? or free camping? I couldn't imagine renting a camper to go stay at park grounds when there is so much to explore
Hey Joe, are you working on book #3 yet? Kate, I thought the international rule was that if the wife dumps the cassette in the US then the husband has to do it in Europe.........
I am - book three will be about the summer trip with mom
@@Weretherussos, AWESOME!!!! I hope she and Janet are doing well.
What about public restrooms in the towns?
Few and far between and they were all pay restrooms - even in the train station. We usually ducked into a restaurant and used theirs
How much is 20 Euros in dollars? Thanks for sharing your travel experiences. This is fascinating!
Right now it's about $22.26 (1 Euro is $1.113), but the exchange rate can / does vary over time.
What's the length of the van you hired? 5.4 meters?
Yes about that
In Italy Modena is pronounced MOH-DI-NAH.
I think I would rather get a hotel in town to enjoy more of the city. The campground was depressing.

Does anyone know the fuel economy of this van please?
How long were you in Italy and did you have the van the entire time?
Almost two weeks and we had the camper for 5 days
Don’t worry not even we Italians understand the Traffic rules
The compartment is locked, because you don't want someone to steal your shit. Literally.
Very relaxing to watch you guys.
