With Sansamp products I like to keep the blend halfway. You still get the natural tone of your bass with the sweetness of the Sansamp emulation blended in. Try a half blend with bass and treble at noon, mid at 1, character and drive at 10 with the bite and speaker sim engaged. You get a great clean tone with some grit when you dig in.
I’ve got the VT Bass Character series version of this. Superb! Gives Bass more welly. Deepen bass, scoop or add mid and treble, alter the character of the Ampeg amp you are pretending to use. Slight movement of the Character knob will give noticeable teal differences. In addition there is a a Drive nob that will add subtle tubes warmth on up,to searing over drive. Also, has a Cab sim button to bring alive the D.I. sound and can also be used when running the pedal afore an amp. I shall be comparing this to a Two Notes LeBass and possibly running them together in front of my Ashdown 500 Rootmaster amp and Barefaced Supertein 2x12
wish I could get the actual info preferably from Tech21 as to whether or not the drive knob adds any compression as I have heard on a few reviews.. I am a comp player and I cannot really tell by ear?
It seems like the level was hitting the input too hard for the entire demo. I'm sure you would have noticed it clipping though. Even the non-drive settings were distorted in my headphones. I love your other videos though...other than the other Sansamp bass di video, which sounded like it had the same issue.
I love you Hening, but this is the worst review you've done. This DI sounds way better than what you presented, but I don't mind, keep up the good work.
I am between Tech21 VT Bass Di - EHX Battalion & TC Electronics Spectradrive and I don't know what to choose!! (That is my budget, that's why I don't think of Darkglass... :-(.... ) Anyone tried them? Make more bass pedal demos please!
Hi, I know this is a late reply, but I just happened to upload a complete guide/review for this pedal, where I take a different approach compared to most...
wow, that's a terrible pedal with that bass. Most active basses sound like crap with a preamp pedal IMO. Too many preamps fighting for their sound and everything turns to muddy, fizzy farts like the sound here. Id use passive basses to demo preamp pedals.
I find that when I use a preamp pedal, I use 1) a passive bass, and 2) run the out of the preamp pedal into the FX return/Power amp in of the amp. That way you get rid of the mud/stacked preamp problem.
I really want to try this in front of my two notes le bass so i can switch on a ampeg sound when i want it, i think the lebass will bring out a better tone in it.
The only guitarist who should be allowed to review bass stuff. Sansamp distortion has always been the worst, though. It would have nice to hear some cleaner tones to show the devices real strength, the SVT emulation.
Had heard good things about these but after watching this really can't see what the hype is all about, not really sure what you are getting for your £200
I never understand the appeal of 'modern' basses I have not heard a bass tone out of these kind of humbuckers that Ive ever liked and a lot of them fart out preamps and such with too much power. Give me a P or J Bass anyday.
I built fully switchable HBs into my semi-handbuilt bass (series/parallel/sc) just because I could and wanted to try. I found that depending on amp/pedal combo I prefer different settings. SC/parallel for more drive to get that high end through and series for clean. Neck in series is my fave, sounds kinda like a P but more Bass on the high strings. With a bit of bridge SC to get some high end and that's my current main sound. Still always have a J with me, it just always fits. What I would be really interested in is a P/HB combo, that Bridge J always sounds to throaty on its own for my taste

loving the bass demos Henning! have a great day man
I have one and I believe the SVT sound is Character knob all the way to the left!!

Please review the DarkGlass Microtubes B7K the same way you did this one. Preeeeeeetty please :)
In general, I like tech 21 bass gear but I've yet to hear a review for the VT that sounds good to me.

Alder, aus welchem Höllenschlund ist dieser Pullover entsprungen?
I like your bass better sound without the VT bass DI
Thankyou for your honesty that you showed that you didn't really rate it me neither
Funny the actual offering from Ampeg didn't impress but Tech 21's version got a pass

Du solltest das Driver reduzieren und das Blend hoch lassen

can you review that slo 100 behind you? I might trade my matchless dc30 for that particular amp.

I used this for awhile than found out about the rusty box and never looked back same price better sound just my opinion tho.

Can I have the sticker???
This certainly sounds more pleasing than the bass driver by tech 21.
I'm not a great fan of the sound that comes from the instrument. I think I don't like the humbuckers
Pedal didn't flash me either

I'm not even a guitar or bass player and I enjoy this. Does that make me insane? :D
This Dude looks like he could be KDH Guitar guy's brother or cousin if he had long hair.
and guitar players who like to play some bass...
The Sandberg sounds waaaaay better dry in my opinion, probably because I'm not a fan of overdriven bass. Great review of a "meh" product. :-)
50 percent of the video is a waste. not much information. please focus on the main subject.

Don't know about feature vs feature but the MXR M81 sounds WAY better than this. And it costs less.
different animal entirely.
Instant fart pedal.
I'm outta here I hate it when guys do a review and act stupid, growup!!
Yes he acts like a kid first day at school😥😣😤
