- Sally Matthews and Audun Iversen perform 'Contessa perdono' in the Festival 2012 production of Le nozze di Figaro.
Director: Michael Grandage
Conductor: Robin Ticciati, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
Cast includes:
Vito Priante, Lydia Teuscher, Audun Iversen, Sally Matthews, Isabel Leonard. The Glyndebourne Chorus
Le nozze di Figaro is the quintessential Glyndebourne opera- first performed in 1934 and in 1994 when the opera house re-opened.
‘This is a Figaro of rare grace, naturalness and charm’, said The Daily Telegraph, and for The Sunday Times it was a production that ‘affirms Mozart’s most beloved masterpiece as both of its time and perennially modern, Grandage oiling the comic mechanisms of Lorenzo Da Ponte’s libretto with a master technician’s hands.’

This is my favourite piece. Majestic.
The restored third act was bold, brilliant. The fourth... was astounding.
And then...a miracle!
Ah but the second act has no word to describe it. Figaro truly is one of the most astonishing musical achievements.

Beautiful. The music, the opera, the sentiment.
Mozart à lui tout seul rachète l'humanité entière ! merci maestro pour tout !
Love the 70s production!
Perfection. Nothing else to say
And then, you know what happened? A miracle😂😂

Pausing after the first phrase from the woman, oh my god
Perdono contessa, perdono...
중 백작의 아리아 ‘용서해 주오 , 부인’ (Contessa, perdono)
can pls somebody tell me, why it means 'contessa perdono' and not 'contessa perdona'? its imperative.
“Perdono” here might be the noun (which is masculine, ending in -o). He’s asking for her pardon, rather than saying “forgive me.” Same meaning, different syntax.
Tempo is WAY TOO FAST
Граф Альмавива цыганский барон?
The high point of this amazing opera falls flat on its face here.
Lovely. It's a shame about the 70's costumes.
Why? They are very good.
Diversity makes art more precious.
Not very good (maybe good): I do not the timbre of the soprano's voice and I do not like the tempo.
