  • During our October 2019 Beat Your Highest Break Club Webinar, Glyn Williams asked if he should keep his chin on the cue and bend his knees, or lift the head above the cue and keep the stance the same... in order to see long pots.
I answered Glyn how I would prioritise those.

what is the way to determine the angle of the bridge hand?
i think as soon as the bridge hand touches the cloth i think i turn abit too much the bridge hand to the right, which causes alignment issue,
i have tried to slide through my bridge hand towards the line of aim as hand touches the cloth , but i still turn my bridge hand to right and it causes huge alignment issue.
is there a best practice to find the best bridge angle? example: i heard the middle finger should be pointing towards object ball which i am not sure if its true , but i am looking for something to determine the correct bridge hand angle?
thank you very much in advance

Prioritise keeping eyes on line and getting / keeping both hands on line before bridge hand touches table - everything else follows that.

I wear glasses while playing. Yes at times long balls done seem to focus without raising the chin but I do not raise the chin ever I don't like to alter that - However, I have noticed that when I am in focus and concentration and in command this never happens even on long shots or weird angle shots etc .... level of concentration is key here I believe.

Yes you need to find a position that allows aiming and concentration.

Is it normal for people to struggle to focus with head tilted forward/eyes all the way up? So then by bending more at the knees and making the head tilt back more, you are looking more straight and can therefore focus on long pots better?

Correct 100% - especially for players over 50 who may well need to do flexibility exercises to manage this.

      What about body weight specifically?

But if I bend my knees down. My chest will affect my cue action.

Yes Minho so you can then move both feet a little to the side to move chest away again. It is all a balance - not too much or too little of either movement and you will find a position that will be about right for moving the cue straight, easily, and with freedom.

THANK YOU PETER. My friend Dr Julian Gooddy runs Posh Eyes
He produces great snooker spectacles with the best player-friendly shape, materials and options available.
I refer all my clients (both UK and international) to him without making a commission - just wanting to suggest the best service.
The rimless specs are recommended… but Julian is also happy to advise on the option of snooker appropriate contact lenses too...
