the WX rework is probably my favorite rework of all time, they've preserved his identity so well but also made the character more interesting and less selfish.
He’s still a all take no give character though he mainly gets benefits for himself with the circuits though there are some circuits that can help the team but they are mainly used for wx
I'm just ecstatic for the simple fact that WX-78 no longer needs to chow down on gears, a win for fling-o's and ice boxes! But I love all the changes in truth. The lights and the scanning for new lights are great additions and mechanics for WX.
I never rushed the ruins before winter until i used WX yesterday. I always tried as wanda but died multiple times and kept restarting the day, it was frustrating. But when i played as WX i rushed them on day 9 and didn't die a single time. I didn't bring enough pickaxes lol, but i brought a couple hammers and left with a ton of gold and a few gems. The moggle vision is really nice. IMO, they should make the light-emmiting circuit only take up 2-3 slots instead of 4, because right now why would you choose it over the moggle circuit. It's harder to attain, takes up the same amount of slots, and is less effective. If it took up 2-3 you could combine it with the heating circuit for winter and freezing circuit for summer so you would have light and temperature control.
its way better for your teammates, moggle circuit is op solo but completely useless to your teammates, meaning you might have to wait for them in certain situations, which would not be an issue with the light circuit though I do agree it should cost less slots
They did change the illuminating circuit to 3 slots now, but I think its advantage over the moggles is when you play multiplayer. You can basically act as a light for other players around, while the moggles ones can't.
I heard that the new "meta" is finding Ancient Guardian before the ruins, just in case you end up finding what you need from his loot, which I think is a very good strat for ruins rushing/looting
This is a amazing rework, it makes the character a lot more in depth and makes him a lot more versatile. But I think that it would have been cool for him to also have really late game circuits that are super expensive but also powerful, maybe requiring 1 or more boss drops. For instance, you could scan one of the twins and use the shield of terror to make a circuit that increases damage and gives built in armor. But I could understand that circuits like this or similar ones would make him really OP but I just thought it would be cool to see some more expensive circuits!!!!!

The rework really helps to make Wx a team player. For those reading, you probably already know that gears are no longer needed for upgrading, and that the chorusbox exists, but did you also know? - Illumination circuit still protects you from Charlie, takes less slots than moggles, AND helps people nearby - Thermal and refrigeration circuits effect spoilage of held food, thermal marginally helps keep you dry. More importantly, Wx is given a temperature aura others can use (also works, at least when held, on thermal stones) - Wx can still drop gears after eating them if they die, and can also still eat spoiling food to great benefit - Refrigeration circuits can be used to make infinite ice, good for endless meatballage. More niche use: gets rid of max wetness
Wx78 is really powerful with this new update, so much so that it makes other characters, (my favorite, wormwood specifically) seem a lot worse in comparison. Being able to do this with no downside seems sorta busted!
man the moggles circuit was so busted now that i think about it, all you needed was flint and a hammer (and of course Jimmy) and boom infinite light for the cost of 4 circuit space
0:43 I find trapping the rabbit in the edge of the world more consistent and efficient. While collecting resources, just put it down and let it scan itself for a bit while collecting nearby grass and twigs.
My tactic1 (Health and seeing in the dark) you just become Wilson but can see in the dark and have more health Tactic2(may not works) (Hot and cold) together so you never worry about temperature
Playing with like, 200% movement speed (rough guess) with almost no upkeep in resources (Cane + mag + 3 upgraded speed modules) for the low price of being permanently insane feels so powerful, I'm shocked the developers let us get away with this. Plus if you combine that with a road, it's even more insane.
I think the 3x speed is better simply because if you generally get the same amount of stuff, you can get other things faster too, when you're done with the ruins.
One way I like finding the ruins is as soon as I go down to the caves, I zoom out as far as I can and like use my cursor to feel out the map edges(its a big square) because you normally spawn in a corner and the ruins is likely the way opposite of the corner you spawned in. I play on console so idk if you can do that on PC
we'd need more tests to say for certain which is better. It's entirely possible that you just got better ruins generation on the speed run compared to the moggles run.

He actually spent *less* time in the ruins with one speed module and one night vision module than he did with 3 speed modules. Or atleast ended a day earlier. So as I said, more testing is required. After DST on Switch got updated to the WX Rework, this video will prove very usefull (they gave WX infinite Moggles for one Moleworm why did they not think this through)
I brought hutch along and did a 100% clear in 13 days with 1 speed & 1 night vision. Also I got the speed one as soon as I made an alc because you can scan a rabbit again
hopefully there'll be more gears for the rest of us and WX-78 doesn't have to eat all of them. then again, they're really good for healing, so the gear consumption might still be an issue.
Did you ever thought about using a moded Character for a Speedrun? obviously this would be only a funrun and not a real competetiv run, but i for example like the tf2 engineer since he has turrets, which are extremly op but this might be an idea to do a run with, like how much faster is he really with his opnes or isnt he actually that op, compared to the other characters?
For intermediate players, I would recommend night vision because it gives you one less way to die and for this reason WX is the first character that has given me the opportunity to explore the ruins. My friend is playing Wanda and doesnt know what thulecite is. I'm gonna go get some. Thanks Jakey.
there is another case to test: single speed at start, then unplug, then moggles + speed v2 this also doesn't mention that you need more skill to play triple speed with lantern than single speed with perma moggles (vision makes it much easier) thanks for video

I have a problem and need advice. I love the game and all, but I can't figure a nice keybind for attack/force attack. I'm fine with ctrl+attack button for forceattack, but F is such a janky attack button. When I press F I can't press D normaly to kite and it screws up alot of my fights. Any thoughts on a good Attack hotkey (mb4 and mb5 would be perfect but Klei won't make them hotkeyable :/)
Use something like ahk or razer software to rebind the thumb buttons to a key that's hotkeyable, I use one of the thumb buttons for attack and one for force attack.

He can be sonic Have a massive stomach And with his other perks he feels to strong like why tank with wigfrid wx can get more health why go with Wilson for winter wx can be completely immune to winter AND summer sure he doesn't start that way but you can still affectively surpass most of the other cast at a lot of physical traits I love the update but I worry if it's too much
I don't feel like that. I'd say his biggest advantages are early speed and free moggles. The rest take a bit of time to get. But most characters are still better than he is in their respective fields. Wolfgang still does more damage and is better for fighting, Wendy is still better at AoE farming etc. If anything I see him as really really useful for multiplayer since he can provide so much for his team.

Any freezing problems are easily solvable with DFurnace, thermal stone, torch or dwarf star (pick your favourite). Any overheating problems are easily solvable with thermal stones, eyebrellas ice chester, iceboxes or just being in caves. Any sanity problems... are not problems in the first place. Collect some cacti and you're good for a whole season (if (somehow) you don't have TamOShanter). He can do chores, absolutely. So can any other survivor given magi and WCane. Not to say that WX is bad, just a better Wilson. C tier pretty much. But even with just one speed modifier my man jumps to A tier right away. If there was a way of increasing his damage (even by just 25%), he'd have a chance of getting to S tier even.
@@d4cto while that is true, you gotta realise that those things arent mutually exclusive. So you have an A tier character that also has some, although minor for better players, utility. He seems a very good character for intermediate players. And for hc characters even ranking makes no point since alot of high level players can ruins rush in first autumn with like 90% of the characters.

You could use the ice module to keep your ham-bat fresher for longer, allowing you to keep your damage up for awhile
