SOLVING THE PUZZLE - Dry fly Fishing New Zealand.

  • This clip that was shot last season, is a continuation of the trip from the 'Getting High on Dry' video on my channel. We (myself Hans and Blair) head into the hills on the last day of the season to chase a few fish (mainly rainbows) in a remote high country setting. It's a small stream and its in low water condition, meaning we have to be careful in our presentations and 'match the hatch' more as the day goes on and the trout shift from one prey item to another. A great finish to our season.

    Hard to believe you have only 15.5K subscribers. You provide the best narration, scenery, music, editing etc. of any fishing videos on TH-cam. Actually, your video's are superior in every way possible. Thanks from the USA.

      Steve D yeah thanks for some very kind and positive words! I don’t really chase subscribers, feeling like a beggar of sorts... I probably should though. Some of the footage I have on big fish is mind blowing. Might have to do a ‘pay per view’ on that to recoup some money... cheers again!

    Great video work. Great clarity, Thanks for using a tripod. Thanks for taking the extra effort in setting up and spotting the fish prior to the cast. Most of all, thanks for showing your skills and making accurate casts instead of using a bobber (something that's becoming the norm in American fly fishing).

    gotta love that baggy shorts 'n' tights look...main reason I got into trout fishing...only kidding, I just wear shorts and repellent, quick dry long trousers or my patagonia breathable wading trou.

    This was text book instruction Mike!! Awesome video. All the books and videos suggest exactly what you guys did when the fish are rejecting your dries. Switch to emerger or downsize. Was great to see it put into practice. Thank you for another video and look forward to the next one.

    That's still bearable. Here in Europe we have rivers where the rainbows can be real bastards. No chance in hell to catch them casting upstream-they seem to see perfectly fine 6x fluoro tippet. How they do this I will never know. Also don't rise to anything larger than 20-22 midges sometimes. Absolute nightmare. And grayling are even worse.

    I love the artistry of your videography, the teamwork you boys demonstrate and, best of all, the camaraderie. The 'bows outnumbered the brownies on a S Is stream? They deserve their day every now and again. 😊 Last season meaning 2019? (Have seem some big mouse browns this year. I got "after" the friend who went without telling me. Now he's stranded by Covid quarantine in a small house on the Tasman sea...some guys have all the luck!). Cheers, Mike. And thank you for the serenity. Hope to fish you with you one day if I don't get too old to travel south.

    • @mikefsher
      @mikefsher  4 ปีที่แล้ว
