Part of the problem is that you prefer to choose fast money over good money. And doing so long tail items that might have sold during this slowdown are gone because you move them fast on other marketplaces. There is something to be said to hold on to items that you might be able to sell more but wait longer on
Yep and also, spring and summer are slow, everyone knows that. He makes more money on yt content so he's probably not actually worried, it's just content creation.
Items are always available almost anywhere, though. Ebay is becoming the dinosaur. I will hold onto some things, but I typically enjoy following the way Walmart does their sales.
He has inventory so holding on to long tail items wouldnt help. He does quick turn around because when done correctly it will equal more profit in the end due to turning that dollar over multiple times rather than letting it sit there doing nothing. But everyone has their preference. That route does require more work as well.
I have steady sales and listing when I can... and mostly the end and sell similar. So that makes for steady sales and overall sales are up 16% this month.

I figured that was the case. You are a very good indicator. Economic recession and high shipping costs. Same here slow sales with short term pickups then back to slow. I'm not adding new stuff because I don't want the storage issues. I also don't believe in any of the ebay shadow banning theories. Ebays purpose is to sell and they don't care who is doing the selling.
@@nap871 Believe me: IMHO and Professional experience, When ebay bans a seller from promoted listings ( marketing) because of a 2.3% defect rate and it becomes, in essence, a “shadow ban” because less eyes 👀 or no eyes are on your listing and that is a formula for less prospects in selling nowadays on eBay. I vividly remember when PL was not available ( nor necessary) and with no advertising it has a direct impact on the sales. Much the same reason Coke. Ford, Marlboro still have marketing. Since I made the comment.. the sales are few and far between. Calling them at eBay is fruitless and frustrating to find anyone with my level of expertise and knowledge on this specific platform
Dave, a little advice from your favorite electrical advisor. Get a portable fan and install it in the stream of the cold air coming out from the AC. This will push the cold air more effectively than the small fan inside AC does.

I think the consistency of having an employee could be a game changer for you! And it will free you up to do the aspects you love in the business and more family time! I have over 400 items listed and list 2 or 3 almost every day. Although my average selling price is good, I only sell about 10 items a month. A whole week or more goes by with no sales. Very frustrating!

Personally I don’t think your listing enough… on average eBay sales are between 1-5% of total listings, what I do is I take a single day and list 140 items, and schedule them out to where 20 get posted each day. So I only have to deal with it once a week, only time I have to list more is if my store drops below what I like to keep listed (I prefer to have at least 5,000 active listings at all times) side note get your golf club boxes from uline their like 0.60 a piece (you just have to buy alot)

I listed an item that sells for $20 for 1 dallor. Got 2 views in one week. No watchers. Then I used a different account to look up my item with key words and my item didn't show. It eventually showed as similar items after scrolling more than 100 pages. So I screen shot it for reference that ebay does hide sellers items. This is what I was told while having a problem with an item I purchased and returned. Ebay person on the phone said they cannot remove sellers listing but will hide their items. That's some crazy shyt. Doesn't help sellers or ebay.
Im a fairly new seller but I've been selling 1 to 2 items daily, i only have 114 items listed. So i think that's pretty good. But nothing the last 2 days it's like "crickets"...... LOL I am listing. You gotta get into the habit of listing x items per day, even if that means doing drafts and just hold off to get it listed. My sales always pick up in the days after I list before eventually dying off on days when I don't list. I haven't had a 0 sales day in a while but when I don't consistently list daily, I drop down to like 1 sale / day.

Worst experience ever in my life was selling on Ebay. There's much too much competition for the same type of items. Didn't find it to be profitable all the time with shipping rates increasing so much. I had listings dropped while I was in the process of selling to a crazy buyer. She wanted a refund and my hands were tied. It was frustrating not being able to reach a human being for customer service. This electronic age is not good when you need to resolve a problem. I don't know how people count on Ebay for a living.
I just signed up for whatnot last week. Wonder if I can still use the referral? last week was good for me as far as sales. This week has been slow. Hope things pick up. Stay safe in that heat.
Part of the issue that resellers have is the anxiety of bad days, weeks etc. that’s not usually an issue when you have a day job with a constant paycheck. I think you should have some way to save all these times when you worried and had high anxiety while it happened and then see how quickly it turned around. You can play it back to yourself so you can help yourself in a more positive way. Maybe that will help you remember. I remember many times when you worried and eBay turned it around. Small seller in Louiisiana. 350 items. Dead sales. One or two a week. I am thinking of getting out. Between shipping, fees, promotions, economy, other selling sites, discount stores, I think EBay will become a thing of the past! Hope that Im wrong! 😟😟
my ebay sales are down, but i have not been listing much for the past few weeks, i did some listings a couple days ago and have been having sales. I resell full time, but i do in person events where i sell records, been focusing on that and managing and organizing unlisted inventory and doing local sales for the past two weeks, so the lack of sales on ebay was not surprising. About 3 weeks back I listed steady for like 5 days and had a killer week, I think its just goes with out saying good stuff sells, and we all need to have a good mix of quick sell inventory as well as mid and long tail items that are more obscure but big ticket sales.
I didn't list for 2 weeks and was selling 1 or 2 items a day. I lost 10 items Wednesday and sold 6 items Thursday. I really think you just need to feed the beast
As sad as it is to say, I'm please to hear that eBay has now got some hot competition out there since they've hiked their 10% seller fees from the golden days to now averaging around 15%-20%+ on top of promotional charges and P&P fees (ridiculous). They didn't need to bite the hand(s) that feed them, and now this could be the beginning of the end for them being the #1 selling platform.
The bigger problem...its policies changes hurt sellers. The latest stab is to give buyers the shipping discount, and eBay CONTINUES to get a percentage of the shipping. If they truly cared about the buyers, they would forfeit their percentage.
Sales for this week are very slow. Going to the post office and the rep is even asking me where are my packages. I usually have ikea bags full and today I had 2 items in my hand. Sold 2 tonight which but have 4 returns. Returns are coming in strong and beating my sales.
I really leaning towards stop live selling on whatnot. It’s too much to get a show ready, run the show, ship the show ontop of my other platforms. I like that at least I can crosslist with Vendoo to whatnot
Sales have been very slow for a month. Sellers send offers to buy cheap but no real money flowing. Even do promoted sales with only a trickle of orders.
Consistency is they only thing that truly works. You must list daily, 10x a day build A draft bank. You cannot not list for 7 days and expect an uptick just bc of 1 day of listing. I say this all respectively. Big fan

May is 6 months after november. Some companies offer 0% for 6 months like az and paypal. Combined that with the economy catching up to people and politics putting people in a "hold" mindset, i get it. Its a calm before the storm that will be this election summer imo. Take it with a grain of salt tho. I only just started selling stuff around the house in april. Nothing major, but id get a sale every so often. i havent had a sale since may 1st, 10 days now, which is the longest since i started. Tbf i havent listed in a while too 😅 but i have heard others mentioning a surprisingly hard dip, not just randos but pros, so i think its holiday bills coming due + preparations for graduation and summer vacations + general unease going into summer. Thats my guess, im not too worried
if youre asking about whatnot, than yes the fees are as follows , 8% on total sale as commission, 2.9% transaction fee, and 0.30 on every sale as a transaction fee as well. so the fees add up to 10.9% + 0.30. which is why its risky to run items as $1 for new sellers. good luck

Been on eBay 25 years. Reseller last 2 years . Got first 2 negatives ever , somewhat unfairly , in last 2 weeks , and now I’m worried slow sales related to that . I’m sure it’s not but ….
😢 I hate the girls are sick, but I think the universe had you notice & buy them just so the girls could have that comfort while not feeling well. Ebay has been my “go to” for years from craft items to electronics but I refuse to pay $14 to ship a item that’s $10 … I know you don’t have any control over that but it has stopped me from even looking on ebay now too bad you can’t work out a deal with UPS or USPS to keep the shipping at a flat rate for most items
Listing more on eBay to sell more is like beating a dead horse harder and harder every day hoping it will get up and walk like it used to. eBay is dying and you can't do nothing about it. Save your business and discover other platforms before it's too late.
With Monster High dolls it depends on the release. The first dolls were made when the show was on, then when the show was cancelled, mattel stopped making the dolls. There was such a uproar from the MH community that mattel made a small line of collector dolls that sold for 75 to 150. But were limited releases. Still the community wanted more, so mattel made a second release, these dolls catered to the moms wanting a more "princessy" looking line, so the faces were made to look "sweeter". They are no where near as nice as the first release, they are the ones selling for $15 to $30 right now, The first releases are anywhere from $45 to $250. :)
My Ebay store died last week. Literally only sold 3 items last week, where I shoot for between 1-2 a day. I ran a discount, slashed prices, and this week has been better.
I suggest you put a notebook next to the computer and write down anything you think of that you “need to do” while you’re making a video. I’m always stressed you’re going to forget to look for lighters or knives or put something back where it belongs. You could always have your assistant who keeps making these mistakes be the one who goes through your Mercari listings and checks for free shipping where it doesn’t belong or knives/lighters/prescription named items (like Prilosec themed plush) are not listed where they will get you banned. Or, don’t let him post the listings until you check them over. He can make drafts and you can approve them before they post.
Keep listing on eBay. Whatnot and Dibdit need to take a back seat for a bit. List a mix of fast sellers and long tail items. Get the number of listings up.

I think Mercari pays the return shipping. I had my first return on Mercari a few weeks ago and I did not get charged….

That's not a very good sell-through rate. If you had 60 items listed and were selling 1-2 daily that would be good.

I didn't list for 2 weeks and was selling 1 or 2 items a day. I lost 10 items Wednesday and sold 6 items Thursday. I really think you just need to feed the beast
Shipping from FL to ND is rough! I’m a bit south of you and anything to ND SD Montana and that region is brutal
As sad as it is to say, I'm please to hear that eBay has now got some hot competition out there since they've hiked their 10% seller fees from the golden days to now averaging around 15%-20%+ on top of promotional charges and P&P fees (ridiculous). They didn't need to bite the hand(s) that feed them, and now this could be the beginning of the end for them being the #1 selling platform.
The bigger problem...its policies changes hurt sellers. The latest stab is to give buyers the shipping discount, and eBay CONTINUES to get a percentage of the shipping. If they truly cared about the buyers, they would forfeit their percentage.

Sales for this week are very slow. Going to the post office and the rep is even asking me where are my packages. I usually have ikea bags full and today I had 2 items in my hand. Sold 2 tonight which but have 4 returns. Returns are coming in strong and beating my sales.
I never EVER get returns................. last week : 2 returns = $90.00 Then ..........slow sales...............

I really leaning towards stop live selling on whatnot. It’s too much to get a show ready, run the show, ship the show ontop of my other platforms. I like that at least I can crosslist with Vendoo to whatnot

I have not sold anything on eBay in abut 3 weeks. I am a part time reseller but I usually sell a few items a week.
Sales have been very slow for a month. Sellers send offers to buy cheap but no real money flowing. Even do promoted sales with only a trickle of orders.
Consistency is they only thing that truly works. You must list daily, 10x a day build A draft bank. You cannot not list for 7 days and expect an uptick just bc of 1 day of listing. I say this all respectively. Big fan

Ebay sales have fallen off a cliff for us, but the good news is Poshmark is up. We have been on a listing fury the past month. Not sure what to do about the Ebay stuff.

May is 6 months after november. Some companies offer 0% for 6 months like az and paypal. Combined that with the economy catching up to people and politics putting people in a "hold" mindset, i get it. Its a calm before the storm that will be this election summer imo.
Take it with a grain of salt tho. I only just started selling stuff around the house in april. Nothing major, but id get a sale every so often. i havent had a sale since may 1st, 10 days now, which is the longest since i started. Tbf i havent listed in a while too 😅 but i have heard others mentioning a surprisingly hard dip, not just randos but pros, so i think its holiday bills coming due + preparations for graduation and summer vacations + general unease going into summer. Thats my guess, im not too worried

if youre asking about whatnot, than yes the fees are as follows , 8% on total sale as commission, 2.9% transaction fee, and 0.30 on every sale as a transaction fee as well. so the fees add up to 10.9% + 0.30. which is why its risky to run items as $1 for new sellers. good luck

Been on eBay 25 years. Reseller last 2 years . Got first 2 negatives ever , somewhat unfairly , in last 2 weeks , and now I’m worried slow sales related to that . I’m sure it’s not but ….
Do anything in your power to get rid of the negatives. They will affect your sales until they drop off.

😢 I hate the girls are sick, but I think the universe had you notice & buy them just so the girls could have that comfort while not feeling well. Ebay has been my “go to” for years from craft items to electronics but I refuse to pay $14 to ship a item that’s $10 … I know you don’t have any control over that but it has stopped me from even looking on ebay now too bad you can’t work out a deal with UPS or USPS to keep the shipping at a flat rate for most items
Listing more on eBay to sell more is like beating a dead horse harder and harder every day hoping it will get up and walk like it used to. eBay is dying and you can't do nothing about it. Save your business and discover other platforms before it's too late.

With Monster High dolls it depends on the release. The first dolls were made when the show was on, then when the show was cancelled, mattel stopped making the dolls. There was such a uproar from the MH community that mattel made a small line of collector dolls that sold for 75 to 150. But were limited releases. Still the community wanted more, so mattel made a second release, these dolls catered to the moms wanting a more "princessy" looking line, so the faces were made to look "sweeter". They are no where near as nice as the first release, they are the ones selling for $15 to $30 right now, The first releases are anywhere from $45 to $250. :)

My Ebay store died last week. Literally only sold 3 items last week, where I shoot for between 1-2 a day. I ran a discount, slashed prices, and this week has been better.
I have never in like 5 YEARS had a BAD week as I did this past week.
You should mention that if you have a Poshmark store you can download your items from Poshmark to Whatnot
I suggest you put a notebook next to the computer and write down anything you think of that you “need to do” while you’re making a video. I’m always stressed you’re going to forget to look for lighters or knives or put something back where it belongs. You could always have your assistant who keeps making these mistakes be the one who goes through your Mercari listings and checks for free shipping where it doesn’t belong or knives/lighters/prescription named items (like Prilosec themed plush) are not listed where they will get you banned. Or, don’t let him post the listings until you check them over. He can make drafts and you can approve them before they post.
Keep listing on eBay. Whatnot and Dibdit need to take a back seat for a bit. List a mix of fast sellers and long tail items. Get the number of listings up.
