I don't know if you like scenic drives with plenty of historic sites... but if you have a couple of extra days I'd go up the coast to the Redwoods with tons of beautiful stops along the way. I lived in Sacramento for almost 40 years...the ciastal drive and the redwoods was definitely my favorite. ❤

I only saw Buddy holding that note forever on PawPaw's video, I didn't know the whole family got in on it! If that hurt my ears because I'm so sensitive to smells and sounds, I just can't imagine what it did to the dogs! Even after I turned the sound off after the fifth person, I literally could still hear the buzzing in my head for a long time! 🙂
You must go to Japan town when you go to San Francisco. The park and gardens are beautiful! We took my Mom who is Japanese. It was nice to hear her speak her language. All of her Japanese friends have passed so it was nice to hear❤
Ok here is my suggestion for San Francisco visit. A place that we always go to eat is Moss Beach Distillery is about 45 mins from SF. The drive is worth it but I am biased because it’s where my husband proposed to me Plus it has a ghost story about the little restaurant. You can sit on the patio and sometimes you’ll see whales, tanker and cruise ships. Also, very good with gorgeous view is the Cliff House. Again, this has a history of the restaurant and fire. Next to that you can see the old sits baths. Very cool. We have a funny not so funny at the time story about China town. So it was first time to see San Francisco ever. My husband is walking me all over. Little did I know the streets are either going up or going down, it seemed to me. Instead of taking the trolley back up because he doesn’t have the patience to stand in line. He has me walking up up up the road. Then he says let’s go by China town. So we turn the street corner and wouldn’t you know it, it was going down hill. After walking up many street,not being in great condition ( as I was just getting diagnosed with RA and fibromyalgia). Needless to say, he’s lucky my looks and mouth didn’t kill him. Be he ended up getting the silent treatment for a few hrs. 😂. Now , every place we travel he will say let’s go to China town or remember the look you gave me. I still ended up marrying him yrs later. But I learned my lesson with what he means by just down or over here. He also learned a lesson of not pulling that again or the spicy Latina comes out. I hope you tow have fun.

We'll be in Yosemite this October as well (from San Jose, CA)! Stop and have a cocktail at the Ahwahnee Hotel (or a meal in the dining room) - not to be missed! The western entrance through Mariposa via highway 140 is the most beautiful (in my opinion), and closest to Yosemite Valley and Village. Happy Diner in Mariposa is fun and worth a stop. As far as SF, Scoma's restaurant near Fisherman's Wharf is highly recommended, as well as Japantown instead of Chinatown...super clean and fantastic food/culture. Enjoy your trip!
Hollister is a sweet town , there is a big area the cottage Village , is all so pretty and yummy to give you a hint , sable here and there is to much to mention.

I lived in Tucson for awhile, it's where I fell in love with cilantro and the real flavors of Mexico.
That will be a wonderful trip. San Francisco to Yosemite is a much better drive. California native here. Hawaii resident now. Go by Sonora Ca and Murphys Ca if you have time. Murphys is amazing little wine country My home town

We went to Yosemite last year. The waterfalls were amazing due to the record snow fall from the previous winter. We stayed at Tenaya Lodge on the west side. It is like minutes from the gate.
I lived in the Bay Area for 25 years. That will be a beautiful drive. We rented a cabin, and when I turned the covers down, the biggest spider I had ever seen was on the pillow.
Don’t go 120 in lots of switchbacks and height of mountains up and downs… got car sick coming in and I was the driver and don’t get sick on mountain trips…go in through Merced the center route takes you along the river and in to Yosemite… Very beautiful have done all three routes in… 120 route upper mountains to lower mountains northern bad… Merced route, river route, lower Fresno route 41 beautiful once you get to Yosemite southern route…
My husband, son and I are also going to Yosemite in October. Visiting, Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia NP and Big Sir. I have never been to California. I’m looking forward to the trip. We will also be flying from Houston to San Francisco. I’ll be watching for your videos to get ideas. So excited!
