I still own, and use, an original Cantorum II. Living on a narrowboat, it takes up little room and is not a bad machine. Enjoyed the video. Didn't realise I own a rarity. Still have the various fittings. Thanks for the fun video.

Plenty of this base model in use in church circles - superceded by the Cantorum V. The top line model was the III late-90s on - currently the VI from about 2011 - though a VI Plus has been released this year. The top line models have greater amplification, weigh a lot more, and have illuminated rocker switches for the voices (though they aren't double action) - whereas the base Modes II & V simply have LEDs - not so good for major registration changes.

I use it for music production as a midi controller. I have the problem that it sends a midi pulse that affects to the played notes when over recording notes. Do you know how to solve it?

It said digital sampling keyboard on the box, so I thought it would be able to sample. I guess that just means it’s used sampled organ sounds.
Why is this thing so expensive? It honesty seems very boring compared to other keyboards from the same era by companies like Ensoniq that were real beasts in the dance music world.

There are several reasons: First of all this is an organ designed for classical or church organ music and therefore sort of a niche product. Second reason is that church organists are notorious for their pickiness - everything has to be extremely perfect for them to take it seriously. This means that the sampling rate and the length of the samples used are usually much higher than on a standard sampling keyboard. The third reason is that church organs can play all their presets at the same time which require that the sound engine must be able to combine multiple samples instantly or have a separate engine for each preset. It looks like the Viscount organ can combine 9 presets at the same time (I'm just counting the preset buttons) and compare this with my late 1980s top-of-the-line Elka X-1000 entertainer organ which can only combine 6 presets and if you want to use both of its two keyboards you will have to share those 6 presets between them.
