I’d love to see a map of the house and estates as getting a bit lost when you talk about the different areas. Chuckled at Em’s desire for a utility room and downstairs toilet - totally get it.
Shoutout to Seb’s camera work. And love your authenticity and personalities. Keep sharing your stories! Such a breath of fresh air. You guys are so sweet to each other.
I teared up when you explained the thumbs up logo. I have an idea of the struggle and heartbreak you, your dad, and your entire family experienced. My brother-in-law passed after a years long battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) of the Cerebellum. It's a rare and terminal disease in which the brain shrinks, as does the corresponding organ and bodily function. The odd thing is that Tom never felt depressed and maintained his sense of humor until the last day. When our priest arrived to give him last rites, he said, "Well, this can't be good!" And we all just cracked up, including the priest. RIP Tom, we love and miss you every day. ❤
Oh thank you so much for commenting and sharing this - I think a sense of humour is the best thing we can all have even in the darkest of times. Sending love to you and your family from Chavenage xx
Huge compliments to Seb on how beautiful he's making the series, great eye for detail and composition. And thanks for the frank answers to all the questions, particularly Em talking about her dad, which I really resonated with, although it was dementia for my Dad.

You seem genuinely humble, I think that is all about upbringing, both your parents have done a wonderful job. A house like that can crumble to dust without someone who genuinely cares and is prepared to put some damn hard work into it, clearly there is a succession of hard working members of your family. It is a blessing but like anything there are two sides to the coin, when you are blessed with so much, much is expected. I don't doubt you are the perfect couple to take it on. You both deserve it.

Being a newbie to TH-cam I feel the same, its wild isn't it! But hopefully we can do lots of Q&As and it can help everyone get to know us and the house. x
I grew up near Malmesbury, which is not too far from Chavenage. This has always been my absolute favourite house and I am now in my 60s. I was guilty of "stop and stare" at every opportunity as I passed by! A great highlight was attending a talk by Sir Chay Blyth at the Manor and being so impressed by the wonderful, homely, welcoming surroundings, full of dogs, open fires and incredible feeling of history and generations past. I think that both of you will keep it in a similar way. Wonderful! BTW I now live in Dorset so not so much staring these days.. Sub'd ;)

Next time you guys do a Q&A I'd love to hear more about the area, local attractions, and the role the manor has played in local history. I just did a 23&Me DNA test and within the last 200 years I had relatives living all over the Midlands. As an American, I don't know much about that area of the country and would enjoy learning more! Absolutely adore your channel and I'm greatly looking forward to all the stuff you previewed in this episode! ❤❤❤

I’m a bad subscriber so far as I haven’t watched all the video yet, apologies, I will catch up! Spotted James in a thumbnail and recognised him from GCN, so this was a massive surprise. Great channel and a good first Q&A because it addressed very honestly THE burning question many had. Good on you for being so frank in your answers to personal questions. Its very refreshing. Just watched the railway video. Blown away. All the best to you. :)
Looking forward to watching you grow in the house and on the channel. People don't really realise the amount of work that goes into looking after or Indeed doing anything in a G1 listed building, even painting and decorating can be an issue. Really glad the barns look to be moving forward, mind you even G2 listing can be painfull. 👍
As I worked on building shops etc. out of containers, look into office/housing containers. Used as cheap as a freight container, but already designed to house people. Insulation, wiring, windows,... all there.
Lovely to watch 👏... Thankyou for showing us all what's going on and not just gifting this all to those that can pay ❤ ...You really shared so much Thankyou xxm
A question for a future Q&A - Have you considered creating a wallpaper and/or fabric of the tapestry room? Stephanie at Chateau Diaries, used a Watts of Westminster wallpaper called 'Wolverton Verdure' which was copied from a tapestry in another English estate, Wolverton Hall. It is stunning. Might be a good source of revenue for you.
The best news that you James are staying with GCN and maybe some GCN content at your new home, looking forward to that. Loving this series and following your progress in your home and marriage xx
What a lovely video. Credit to you and your respective families for your authenticity. It is great that you have both achieved things independently before taking on such a mssive undertaking, albeit with wider family. I like your approach to growing the channel. Whilst it is great to have the support though memberships, It seems that your time is so precious that just the videos alone is sufficient. I have seen other channels who have stopped subscriptions simply as they felt they could not provide the additional content. That boosts their credibility. Preserving your time is the crucial thing. Having some experience, decades ago, of living in and running large old houses. Prioritisation, time mangement, financial security, people management are some of the vital skills required. Unlike some other businesses, there is no exit, no room for major mistakes. I think a comparison with traditonal owner managers is important, as they know the details thoroughly, look after people, but take great care of themselves and those close to them to ensure they can continue for the long term. Huge respect for an awesome project! Thanks for including the story of MND Tee. It is good to maintain awareness.
I think one of the reasons I find this channel so interesting is because I moved into my grandparents' house, which we've remodeled. While it's nowhere near a "manor," it has its own unique history. It started as an old barn and eventually became a massive house with the family's old auto body shop attached; this is where I now build my stained-glass panels and often film my videos. My point is, I love old generational homes.
Emma explaining the thumb up logo was a very emotional and inspiring message. Good to hear that you are keeping your foot in the door at GCN it wouldn't be the same without you.
This was an excellent video and I really appreciate how much Em spoke. Close to a true 50/50 of question answering between you both and it really shows how equal your relationship is with each other. It's refreshing and so wonderful to see. That sort of thing does not go unnoticed and please stay true to that concept as you move into the future together! Especially with property like this passing traditionally to the eldest son (obviously you touched on this with one of the questions) women still get overlooked and dismissed far too easily and it's frustrating. It's very much appreciated when things can be not only equal but can highlight the important women involved! More videos including and highlighting the girls!
I started watching your channel today because it was suggested under a video from Mapperton live, so cool you guys know Julie. Has she done an episode of your manor yet? I love her tours and interaction with the owners of these lovely old homes. I wish I was gifted one for my wedding or 18th birthday. 😂 Can't wait to see everything you do to your home.
Great channel. Have been in love with Jane Austen and other British films and I am sure I have seen your lovely estate in some of the BBC productions. It would bring lots of views to do a show showing clips of shows made there. Especially Jane Austen, the whole world is made for her right now.
Very smart filming the Listed Buildings Officer as part of your channel. They can't be unreasonable in front of 100,000 subscribers in the way that they can be obstructive to the average listed buildings owners.
I've been looking forward to your next upload! I was so surprised when you read my comments! I hope I didn't sound too forward! I think you guys are super sweet and adorable! Thank you for doing this channel.
I love Luke and Julie's approach to fundraising for specific renovation projects (in addition to Patreon). Something to think about. Kudos to Sebastian. Excellent work! Why do you think your house is popular for filming? A house like Mapperton "should" be equally as popular. Is it your aunt's relationships with location scouts?
Yes its a great approach for sure! Were not sure why it might be more popular than others, I think it helps that the family are so accommodating and flexible when it comes to having film crew on site, and yes, Caroline has created an incredible relationship with location managers which really helps too! She really is the brains behind that side of things :)
I also watch Mapperton -I think one of the issues they have, which they've mentioned themselves a few times, is that Mapperton is a bit off the beaten track. Chavenage has the advantage of being closer to London!
Great show you two are a beautiful couple. Brought to the channel by the model railroad episode, subscribed and watching the rest. From Burlington, WA USA north of Seattle.

Just caught your 'train' video and now this. Love your honesty, openess and humility. Best of luck in your endeavour I shall now subscribe and look forward to seeing your story. ❤❤❤❤
Good on you for being so frank in your answers to personal questions. Its very refreshing. Just watched the railway video. Blown away. All the best to you. :)
Glad you enjoyed it
God bless you in your efforts to restore your beautiful home.
Great Q & A....thank you so much! You are very natural and am enjoying your vlogs....keep up the good work!!
As I worked on building shops etc. out of containers, look into office/housing containers. Used as cheap as a freight container, but already designed to house people. Insulation, wiring, windows,... all there.
Thanks Emma , James , and Seb !
Thank you for watching! x
Lovely to watch 👏... Thankyou for showing us all what's going on and not just gifting this all to those that can pay ❤ ...You really shared so much Thankyou xxm
Thank you so much for the kind words Mandy xx
A question for a future Q&A - Have you considered creating a wallpaper and/or fabric of the tapestry room? Stephanie at Chateau Diaries, used a Watts of Westminster wallpaper called 'Wolverton Verdure' which was copied from a tapestry in another English estate, Wolverton Hall. It is stunning. Might be a good source of revenue for you.
Oh wow, thats amazing, thank you! We will take a look at hers for sure!
The best news that you James are staying with GCN and maybe some GCN content at your new home, looking forward to that. Loving this series and following your progress in your home and marriage xx
Thanks. Love watching!
For a new channel you two are doing a great job with your videos. Thank you.
I’m glad Dad is still around, I thought you lost him hence getting the manor.
hes for sure still around and incredibly supportive of both Emma and I,
Thank you for this! It'll be interesting and educational to see the REAL process of restoring and re-inventing.
I absolutely love renovating content . I follow quite a number of houses, estates etc
Great! Thank you so much for watching, big renovation coming ip here this year!
Love the MND tee brand and cause. You should stock it in the café ❤
Yes I think we might I need to just get going again after a break from it to set up the cafe here : ) xx
What a lovely comment thank you so much xx
Love this, happy to hear you will stay with Gcn part time! I would love for all your content to stay free!!
Chaptering the questions would be really helpful 🥰
Very smart filming the Listed Buildings Officer as part of your channel. They can't be unreasonable in front of 100,000 subscribers in the way that they can be obstructive to the average listed buildings owners.
Really looking forward to your future videos. Good luck to you both!
Thanks for the Q&A you answered a lot of questions and I will continue and look forward to watching your journey ❤
You are so welcome!
I've been looking forward to your next upload! I was so surprised when you read my comments! I hope I didn't sound too forward! I think you guys are super sweet and adorable! Thank you for doing this channel.
Ah thank you so much Lori!
Very smart family planning on there part planning.
From Burlington, WA USA north of Seattle.
can you do a show introducing your family going back to the beginning of the manor?
Love you Guys Thank You for sharing you lives with us. Your only just up the road from us (Painswick) and we love the Barn Cafe. I actually spoke with Nicky today about having a studio at Chavenage in the future I am a writer and illustrator mostly children's stories. Thanks Guys
Hi Anthony! You're so welcome, thank you so much for watching :) Hopefully see you soon at the cafe! x
That is awesome!
What a lovely couple, can't wait for the future! Im definitely in for the long term!👍
Thank you!! 😊
Thats amazing thank you :)
Really love your channel. Thank for sharing your life
Brilliant video. Very natural and honest ❤
You two are so charming. Loving your videos. Great fun to watch. Hope to visit sometime!😊
