Bravo Nakariakov!
The circular breathing is to emulate the continuity of bowing in between sound and articulation. String players breathe, too, for the sake of phrasing, as in, the music breathes.
I think this is my favorite Nakariakov performance. The guy is simply a genius, and especially so on the flugelhorn, which I understand is his favorite instrument. Doesn't matter if that wasn't the instrument the composer intended - this performance is simply gorgeous.

This instrument is practically the same as a valve trombone only the mouth peace and bore is smaller. Obviously it is much easier to control than the slide trombone being it is valved.
@@w96725 Not really. Flugelhorns are more like tubas. It's like a soprano tuba in b flat. Same range as a trumpet but with a rounder sound. Trombones are closer to trumpets, just in a lower range. We coud say that a trumpet is a soprano trombone.
Depends on the composer. In many cases, I'd agree. Sometimes it's interesting to hear your own piece played by a different instrument though (I compose, so I can testify).
Who cares about the composer's fantasy? If you can perform something this beautiful it does not matter one whit what the composer would think. This recording is pure bliss.
I would say you houner him/her further by loving their music so much you go out of your way to give their music new life, giving it your honest interpretation and taking it in with genuine honesty.

It's a transcription of the cello concerto, not a trumpet concerto. He's not even playing a trumpet.
