Actually, Jaws 2 wasn't nearly as bad as the other sequels, mostly because of Scheider's performance. If Jaws 2 didn't have Scheider, it would have jumped the shark.
he has acted in some great movies over the years, as for jaws 2 i thought it was a decent sequel if there had to be one made, far better than some other film sequels that i could name, it is true that he did not want to be in jaws 2 but he was on a three movie contract with universal so he had no choice really. it also had a different director to start with that wanted to make it a much darker movie but he was axed. i think most jaws fans did want to see amity revisited and to see how the brodys were getting on four years after. regards the batman.
Jaws 2 was a definite step down from the original film but as far as sequels go I wouldn’t put it in the bad sequels category. It’s actually decent and entertaining enough and could have been total trash. 3 and 4 were but 2 was still entertaining enough to be a decent sequel.
The scar scene in Jaws -- along with Quint (Robert Shaw explaining his ordeal on the USS Indianapolis -- is one of the best scenes in the history of cinema.
It shows the humbleness of an actor when they can be in the French Connection, Jaws, All That Jazz, Sorcerer and still do a Family Guy skit as the narrator of an educational video about pooing
I always loved him. He was a damn good actor and was in some pretty good stuff. Jaws is an absolute top notch film. The story line, the interaction between characters etc.
He gave the best performance in a bad movie. He was forced into doing Jaws 2. He could've phoned it in, but he was such a pro he gave a really good performance as Brody, this time with PTSD.
Brilliant actor, and you can see here he is embarrassed with the subject matter but handles it with total grace and humility, many a lesson to learn. I mean he is a Hollywood icon, yet there is not bit of attitude or ego
It’s a decent film. Had it been the only Jaws film, it would have been very well regarded. The kids aren’t annoying, the drama and tension are well wrought and the conspiracy undertones, plus not being heard by authority, fit in with other 70s thriller. The shark is a bit rushed, admitedly.
Almost 58 years ago and yet still the Masterpiece and the finest work of Steven Spielberg *"Jaws"* The amount of details he put on the sharks and survival tactics is was just mind blowing ❤️ Quint Death really makes me emotional
All That Jazz, The Seven Ups (in my opinion, has one of the best car chase scenes in movie history), are two of my favorite Roy Scheider movies. He was one of the best! ❤❤❤❤
I love Jaws, haven’t watched it in such a long time however my favourite Roy Scheider film is Blue Thunder. Saw it at the cinema and is one of my go to movies, thank you.
I was 9 years old when Blue Thunder came out. My Dad took me and my brother to see it in the theater, back in 1983. I really liked the movie. For Christmas, I asked for, and received, a Blue Thunder helicopter toy. My Dad also took me and my brother to see 2010: the Year We Made Contact movie, also starring Roy Schneider, in 1984. That's also a good movie. It was good enough that, even now, as a 49 year old, I still remember watching and enjoying it in the theater 39 years ago.
I have no idea who Graham Norton is, but it's great to see this short interview with Roy Scheider, such an incredible actor and a great man. You are missed, Roy.
Love Roy Schneider, God bless him in heaven. Aside from being a great actor he was a gifted boxer. Great lane in Jaws 2 as he says he didn’t do 3&4 .. but in two he’s yelling “you better do something about this one, because I don’t intend to go through that hell again.” How true those words are to contemplate.
My favourite actor of all time!....My favourite film of all time....I cried when the shark died!... After watching Jaws GW sharks are my favourite animal....it had a profound effect!... thank you Roy...and Bruce the shark.❤❤
After seeing "Jaws" many times, I think this is the first I heard that the scar was real. It was neat to see him read from "The Jaws 2 Log", and to actually see it read.
This reminds me of the episode from Vicar of Dibley where they're all doing charades at the Vicar's house and trying to guess what movie Alice is referring to when she holds up a couple of jars. Then when they can't she just says "It's Jars!" because she never even saw the actual movie or knew what the real title of it was lol
Schneider was great in Jaws, but his role as Bob Fosse in All That Jazz he was brilliant. He should've won the Oscar but that darned Dustin Hoffman had a career-defining performance in Kramer vs Kramer. RIP ROY
He was up against Dustin Hoffman for _Kramer vs. Kramer_ . Al Pacino, Peter Sellers, and Jack Lemmon were also nominated. I feel like he might've had a good shot if Hoffman wasn't nominated that year.

The fact that they could only use the model shark scarcely in Jaws was a blessing in disguise and just like the first Halloween movie it's the parts your imagination has to fill in that are most frightening and why the film works so well.
