It seems like many people criticize the Athens part and the pickpockets, all I want to show you is my personal experience I made, and it was really not that nice to be honest. As the video maybe get's a not so nice ending, so did my vacation there!
I just want to make sure that your experience is going to be perfect, so just be aware. I'm not saying that Athens is a dangerous city or that greek people aren't friendly!!!!!❤️
Hi! I just came across your video as I'm going to Greece ( again). I have been in Greece for 40+ times all across the country spanning 10 islands and throughout the mainland from north to south from west to east. The country is incredible and love it forever and ever. With that said I have never had a bad experience or something like pick-pocketing.
But I've only been 2 times in Athens. I don't know, but it may be that Athens have issues in this regard. And since it happened to you there are people there who does this.
I don't know who or what, but generally Greece is extremely safe and has one of the lowest criminality rates in Europe. And those times where I did read it in local news, newspapers or TV, it where foreigners who did it. Not to say Greeks don't do this, but Greeks are culturally very warm, and also they can be filthy rich or extremely poor, but they are always extremely hospitable even if they had no money. And stealing in Greece is a big shame. A big shame as is, they are not individualistic people. They are very coherent. Hence in Crete you can enjoy weddings that are as large as 5000 people. It's not like that in much of the rest of Europe where individualism is very strong. So why am I telling this? Because if a Greek steals, everyone will know about it. Because they are social people, Social check is big in Greece. Stealing will make a Greek wish he/she never did it. as everyone in your village/town will know.
And with my personal experiences in this, I can say that aside from Athens, almost nothing ever happens. Athens is a Metropolis. So I guess anything can happen.

Me and hubby was there last year. We took the ferry the BLUE star. 8hr trip. We got a cabin. It was awesome. U seen the views and enjoyed our breakfast. I recommend going across the street of the port to get coffee and this wondetful feta and olive sandwich baked with fresh bread. Taking videos and pics on tbe cruise was fun. It is simply a painting in every picture shot

Rent a little fiat from the guy where they drop u off on the port of SANTORINI GREECE ISLAND. Don't remember his name. But it was cheaper there. We drove to Oia and stopped everywhere to take pics. U see the blue domes everywhere i Oia. Don't worry everyone parks and gets out and walks. Explore..explore. u won't be disappointed. I recommend stopping at the store and buying feta and olives and baked bread. For the trip. Amazing. Just to park and have alittle picnic around the GORGEOUS views!

Great video! My family and I recently returned from a 3 week European vacation where we boarded a cruise in the middle of our trip and toured the Greek Isles. Santorini was amazingly beautiful! What an amazing video ! Excellent tips , I’m going next year but we are going on a cruise and it’s my first time , we will be there for only 8 hours . How long of a hike from the cruise port to mamathira tavern? You mentioned to be a couple hours earlier to watch the sunset , what time exactly , best location ?What method of transportation do you recommend me to go back to fira after the hike t?

Thanks very much for the nice comment! If you come with a cruise, the cruise ship is going to anchor in front of the cliffs of Fira. You will then be transferred to the port of Fira with smaller Boats. From the port, you can choose to hike up to the town, take a cable car or have a donkey ride up. When you reached the top, it's probably 5 to 10 minutes to Mama Thira Tavern.
The best spot for sunset would be at the castle of Oia, but also Fira has beautiful spots like the three bells of Fira. But be careful and don't miss your cuise... They usually leave in the late afternoon, I'm not sure if you have time to see the sunset then. Otherwise, to come back to Fira in the quickest way, take the local bus.

Great shots...but the directions for where to go to take the photo of the 3 blue domes in Oia are very, very vague. Not sure where to turn.

I am not sure if an actual physical map of the hiking trails exist, but You can find maps of hiking trails on Google maps. Most hiking trails on Santorini are nowadays marked with signs telling direction, distance and expected time to do the walk, and they are usually quite easy to find. (There are several nice hiking trails, not only the spectacular one between Fira and Oia, but also others like Vlychada-Akritiri.)
Good video but didn't like the part about Athens. Any place can be dangerous. I always research a place for the dodgy areas which can be found in any country.

We didn't like the plane ride. The blue ferry is the way to go. 8hrs. We had a 2bdrm cabin and it was awesome!!! Beautiful ship! If u don't take it you're missing out. We're planning to do it again. Plan a taxi pick up at your hotel in Athens. They will take u to the port to get on the BLUE ferry. Across the street there's a coffee shop and pastrie go there. Awesome feta cheese sandwich to take on ferry. Plus places in ferry to eat.
Yeah, the boat ride really is nice. And yes, if you want to take the ferry, call a taxi for the ride to the port. Never take the Subway, that's where the chaos is.

Very good video and very good suggestions-- until the little diatribe at the end. Unless you had your iPhoneX stolen by pickpockets (there is no word "pocketpickers) I would spare your viewers the provincial paranoia you personally portend.
You keep saying to look behind you for great views. Why not just go in the opposite direction??????
