I love Calisthenics and practice it regularly, but let's face the truth: Calisthenics is only a part of gymnastics. Any gymnastics athlete can easily adapt to Calisthenics, but Calisthenics athletes can’t transition to gymnastics as easily
I agree to an extent but I still think gymnasts would struggle to do some of the skills that people like Onizuka, Mani, Kevinro, or Nathan can do. I'm talking the likes of supinated straight arm touch press, Reverse planche, pelican planche pushup etc.
You should have let him test you in some gymnastic specific skills (especially since he's a ring specialist). I think that would be just as entertaining video.
Sadly in Chile, there is no much support for athletes that dont practice soccer ,specifically, so very happy you can show the talent to everybody! Great video i enjoy it a lot.
Well he is world class(on his field) and 155cm with no legs man....Not only his legs weight nothing but also his body structure is weird short legs long arms /torso..He is born to do Gymnastics Lets see him do weighted 40kg muscle ups or 200kg squats and deadlifts....

Gymnasts, specially ring, p-bars or floor specialists can easily do or learn advanced callisthenics skills. A lot of the more advanced skills in callisthenics come from gymnastics. Moreover, those skills are part of the regular strength and conditioning sessions of gymnasts. A pommel horse specialist will take a bit more time to learn some advanced callisthenics skills. An horizontal bar specialist will surpass a freestyle callisthenics athlete but not necessarily a statics or ring callisthenics athlete. As a Chilean, I am happy you show our athletes. I hope you enjoyed your stay in my country. Vamos Chilenos!
This video proves the conditioning you get doing gymnastics is so powerful and that much transferable to whatever challenge it may be. You put him through his paces and he came up so succesful. It'd be interesting to see you working thru his event. Don't think you'd be comfortable to say the least.
@@andrystrong1go ahead and prove it!. Rings not just about statics only. Some transitions are pretty complex unless you have been trained as a gymnast. Know how strong you are Andry but gymnastics still rings are way over you.
an elite gymnast on rings has literally the peak of calisthenics. whats so incredible is that they do so many elite statics in a row. however You are so strong at weighted handstand for example the the elite gymnasts would NOT have an easy time replicating it. i would love to see yourself and an elite challenging each other.
Awesome video, I have always wanted to watch a gymnast who is strong on rings try those calisthenics skills, because I thought even they have never trained it they would be able to do it, and he showed it. Gymnasts are really complete and strong athletes. I wanna see you try Gymnastics, especially rings because is the one which suits you more, thw other events... Will be hard
He is an elite athlete not the average Joe of gymnastics. He is also 155cm and has a body shape of short legs and long arms.Anatomically perfect for what he does hence he could start at 11 years old and be world class. Really puzzled by all these stupid comments thinking Gymnastic athletes can do anything. Find me a 1.80cm 80kg normal man size gymnastic athletes and lets test him.People tend to forget average Gymnastics height it 155-165 while calisthenics 170-180 and heavier.
He doesn't have the skill set but his strength would be transferable. Maybe not straight off but of course, just like the gymnast doing calisthenics, he get there quick
This video it’s absolutely amazing he never did before these skills that andry strong said to him to try and he did everything with very good form. Gymnasts are impressive😍💪
This is exactly the kind of motivation I need to get back to the bars!... Gymnastics is really impressive, by the way! I'm proud to be chilean and to have such a great athlete representing us.
love calisthenics to death..been doing it for a long time..but the reality is gymnast a far more superior than calisthenics athletes and they can learn those moves pretty quick
(8:28-11:52): They test Huin’s grip and finger strength, comparing his results to those of calisthenics athletes. Discussion covers how gymnasts train differently, often for 6 hours daily, balancing strength, flexibility, and skills, while calisthenics focuses heavily on body control and balance.
All national teams gymnasts receive systematic training from experts coaches since the age of 4-6, and they practice full-time. In contrast, callisthenics have their randomised training, under guidance of other more experienced practitioners (no proper coaching), and they start the sport usually at older age like teenage or even older, and they just practice as a hobby instead of full-time. This makes the difference between gymnasts and callisthenics
Hmm good Question, in terms of just strength, calisthenics is probably stronger. However, regarding skills gymnasts should have the advantage (way complexer movements than in cali - at least for now. Its also a lot different in terms of equipment. In cali we dont get any "bouncy" bars or floors etc. which limits the possible movements/skills). Also...look at this great guy. He never did most of those movements and accomplished many of them quite easily. I wonder how it would be the other way around. That would be a great video too. Maybe go for some giants and stuff like that as soon your shoulders healed! For sure a nice experience and cool too watch! :D
@andrystrong1 I'm not 100% sure, but I think he did. Thank you for your reply, anyway! Great content! You have inspired me to get more serious about calisthenics. I have some paralettes arriving today! If I become half as strong as you are, I'll be happy! Keep up the good work 💪
