November to February is the best time to visit because of the cooler climate and the Pinoy Christmas. April to June is when most festivals and fiestas, like the famous Ati-Atihan, Sinulog, are celebrated, but it's also the height of the dry season when temperatures can reach 36-37°C. But the beaches are never far and the water is warm all year round. Be safe. 🌺
Mananita is not a common practice but when filipinos do it, it means you are a very special person. Story is so loved because she had mananita and they composed a song for Story alone. So proud of my fellow Filipinos. They have such a big heart.
still common here in cebu city and other provinces in the visayas and mindanao but we do it around midnight or past midnight and the participants are family and friends, we also break raw eggs on the head of the birthday celebrant.

I’m from Siargao, and this tradition is very common there. I used to be part of mañanita group when I was there. It’s another Filipino tradition that I can be really proud of, and even more proud that we Siargaonons, still do it. It’s nice to see you’re all able to experience it. Enjoy living in Siargao, hope to see you when I go back. xx Happy birthday beautiful Story.. xx
I got lucky to experience mañanita once when I was in my home province of Bohol 20 years ago. I had no idea my sisters, their friends, and neighbors were planning for it. I woke up to the sound of joyous singing outside the bedroom window. It just made my birthday extra special! Mañanita is a good tradition to keep.
I am just a spectator here from Manila and yet I am so touched with the mañanita they did for story. It was a custom in most parts here in the Philippines that we make salubong to the day of the birthday. It means you are so loved by those who are giving it off. And story is just what this lockdown has given us. A breath of fresh air, of hope, of youth, of the future.

Mañanita is a traditional TIME SPECIFIC serenade to birthday celebrants. Mostly done very early morning before sunrise but others sometimes opt to do it past midnight.
oh, its a very special bday honoring for a bday celebrant in philippines. we call it mañanita. yes, it's still exist here in philippines but as said - it is special :) good one!!! well, best to have it done on midnight on your birthdate.
Mañanita is an early dawn birthday serenade to greet the birthday celebrator. Usually, the birthday celebrator would wake up to the songs. Afterwards, a light snack is served and everybody gets to greet and congratulate the birthday celebrator. Oh how I miss this Filipino tradition. 😃 Happy birthday Story! May you have many many birthdays to come. God bless you sweetie!
Mananita is done especially for special people. They do it for the one they love and appreciate.if they composed a song for Story that means its more special.it's a heartwarming experience something you will never get anywhere.Quite impressive.
What a very Beautiful Memory on "Story's 4th Birthday". Worth preserving, a treasure to remember when she gets older, how she is being loved, not only by her adorable mum & dad but also by the people around her. "Mananita" is a rare traditional practice of showing how special you are. Story is so Adorable & Lovable that almost or all of the people she met in Siargao and those who saw her on your vlog learn to like her. What she is now, is the product of how you brought her up, Sacha & Jay, aside from being really born beautiful. Congratulations, Sacha & Jay. More blessings & God Bless. 🎄🏜
It’s in our culture treating people as a family member even though we didn’t know eachother as long as you respect and kind to one another. And we loved to offer of what we have/can. As long as you appreciate it and like what we offer/give to someone, specially people like you who came from the very far country. That don’t have relative or any member of your family behind you. We’re so humbled to share or express our feeling to welcome you with an openarms. And to feel you at home 🏡. in very simple way of life. I know you surprised to those people came with the landlord even if you didn’t know them. But in our culture it doesn’t matter if you know me or that person as long as they’re kind to you all. And as being a Filipino we love to see new people and loved to be part of the occasion. Specially bithday gathering and Fiestas. So I hope if you see them on the road or in the beach 🏖 or market or in any public places don’t hesitate to greet them and they’ll loved it 👍👍👍👍👍👍😘😘😘😘😘😘😍😍😘😍
Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience with us. Even here in the turbulent USA I could feel the emotions. Thanks again. God bless you and your lively little family.😇🙏

Filipinos are born with a gift of being hospitable and caring. That’s why Philippines is fast emerging as the top country to visit and live as well. Happy 4th birthday Story! God bless and we love y’all from Houston, Texas.
I was crying while I’m watching, I am touch by the kindness & generosity of the neighborhood, l felt nostalgic. I watched the video 6 times!!!its like I'm the celebrant!!!❤❤❤ the cutie girl never had any dull moment while listening to the mañanita songs. As if she understand the meaning of the songs while she's dancing. Proud pinoy proud pilarnon!! Proud siargaonon..happy birthday baby story ember!!!❤❤❤ just like sacha makahilak man with the joy in our hearts
Never heard of this. It's amazing! One of the first songs sounded like a song of praise. It wasn't just one song too, a virtual sunrise concert for a very special 4 year old. So thoughtful to have a cake in her favorite color too. Just amazing kindess, love and sincerity for her and your family.
I think Mañanita is popular in Visayas and Mindanao only. Wow I’m impressed that they have all English songs. Usually all in Bisaya. So cute. After the song, then food with coffee or hot chocolate. I remember suman, budbud or biko (all rice cakes) should be present each birthday celebration.
@@LoneWolf-oi4yx really? That’s cool but I think if it’s early in the morning might disturb other people sleeping specially working people. While in the province, kinda have distant houses.
@@LoneWolf-oi4yx Same, i did have Mañanita at my debut. I didn't want that because i have class after but I expected already, no choice lack of sleeping hours🙂.
What a beautiful serenade done at sunrise especially for Story for her birthday celebration! Such a joy and lovely tradition called 'Mañanita'! Because Story is so sweet and special and a fantastic offering that I hope she'll remember whenever she celebrates her birthday. Truly amazing!💜💟💖

I am an ilocano and I live in the rural north and yes we still practice it. But not early at sunrise hehehe
Yes, the celebration w/ hot drinks and food after is part of it all.
We visayans in Metro Manila still doing the Mañanita. Recently, my cousins daughter on her debut in Quezon City.
Filipino hospitality... 💯💖💖💖
Happy birthday story....take care of your mom and dad always..hehehe

I long to retire in the Philippines someday, I miss these type of celebrations, the warmth, well intentions, kindness and genuine love Filipinos have for others are so special. Story has a wonderful record of this to look back on how her new "family" celebrated her 4th birthday!
Our family still does this, this is because most of my family live close by. We always get these breakfast feast afterwards too. ☺️
What a beautiful thing to do. I was really choked up at the generosity of the neighbours, very emotional. Story is a very lucky and special little girl. 🥰🤩🤨🍭🎈
Ahhh! I miss having Mañanita. I used to be one of the groups that goes out early in the morning and sing for family & friends. We still do it in out village in Davao. My mum is having one this Nov 20 as it’s her birthday. It’s a lovely tradition. The early morning one they call it Mañanita, and when it’s done in the evening it’s called Harana. I’m so happy you are happy Story! 🥰🥰♥️♥️
