I got chills when Rafe brought all of Nathan's achievements from the previous games. It was like a flashback remembering all the good times we all had with the franchise, all the obstacles we surpassed and all the things we lived just to be in this very moment where we make our grand finale.
That's why this will always be one of my favourite finales of all time. Every game in this series, to me, is easily a 10/10 masterpiece, and that's rare for any series. Uncharted will be missed.
@@sergiovelasquez5138 Oh! I just finished that a couple weeks ago; I'd say it's about a third the length of the main game. Tay-Elsa Kenneth when I saw this chapters title A thief’s end I was feeling exited and knowing that this was the last mission to with Nathan Drake after all of Drakes Adventures I have gone through I said to my self this is it I had to do is defeat Rafe
Despite his ruthlesness, I think that Rafe is by far the most sympathetic main villain in the entire series. Navarro wanted to sell a biological weapon for money, Lazarevic wanted the the power of the tree of life to take over the world, Marlowe and Talbot wanted the hallucinagenic agent from the waters of Ubar to control their enemies through fear, but Rafe wanted to find Avery's treasure because he wanted to accomplish something on his own for once in his life. Sure, he is a heartless, vindictive egomaniac, but you've got to admit that his goal seems to be the most sympathetic.
When you think about it, Nate and Sam are no better than him. “Last I checked,we are all a bunch of thieves, poking around where we’re not supposed to.” Edit: Yeah, looking back at it now, Rafe is clearly worse than Nate and Sam, (or at least Nate). He clearly was always a rich asshole from the beginning but it’s pretty clear at the end of the game he kind of went bonkers. He still remains the most sympathetic and (in my opinion) the best written antagonist in the series.
Black Gear Nathan and Sam to a lesser extent clearly has morals, he, Nate, saved the world and actually care about other people and protects who they love. Clearly something that Rafe, the entitled trust fund psycho that he, is lacking.
Black Gear well really, they are. Nate and Sam dont kill people for no reason, other than self protection. Nate didnt want to fight Nadine, made Sam drop his gun before shooting her, and tried to avoid the sword fight. Back in the third game, he tried to save marlow, and in the second, he killed lazaravich to protect really, the entire world. After discovering El dorado, he was easily able to get rid of the statue, with no hesitation. Sure, they go snooping around for things, but they dont purposely kill other people for it, or even get it.
What I enjoy about this fight is that Rafe is actually using some real sword fighting techniques here and Nathan is just wildly swinging. They actually took the time to animate completely different move sets for each of them based on Rafe having real training.
The reason Rafe was the best villain (IMO) was because he was the most human. His flaws and insecurities were always on display. He was also the most involved villain, and his history with Nate and Sam made it personal. Uncharted 1-3’s baddies were fantastic, but Rafe takes the cake for me.
Feel the same way. I feel like Marlowe takes second place for me but only because they didn't do much with her. She was a bit personal too and I would have loved to see more from her manipulation. Lazarevic was fantastic too and threatening and one of the series's strongest, but the supernatural aspect (while I loved it) made him more superhuman than someone I can see existing. But hey I love all of the villains, I mean Eddy Raja is the best for me (RIP).
@@slinkerys Talbot could've been so much more, to be honest. He's shown to be this master of deception throughout the entire game. Every time Nate showed any doubts or wanted to abandon the mission throughout the second half of the game Sam got so angry and emotional, he wanted to share the moment with Nate cos it was their mother's life's work in that journal and at the end of the day they were all each other had growing up. The first time I played this game I got so pissed off that the whole Alcazar thing was BS and I had resented Sam's character since but having recently come back and played it again I finally realize just how poetic Sam's arc truly was. I never hated Sam. It was like their destiny to find this treasure together. Ever since they were kids. It'd be hard to give it up. He lied because it was the only way to get Nate back in the game to do it with him. Nate had all these adventures without him while he was suffering in prison. @@kebz9303 Exactly. All he wanted to do was go on another adventure with his little brother again. Made me tear up a little seeing the brotherhood between nate and Sam
Yeah it is poetic. And maybe little bit tragic, Sam's arc. The whole Sam's quest that he wants Nate to come with him to Italy in the beginning, and the fact what Rafe told Nate about Sam leaving him after two years of searching and then coming to Nate, shows you that he really wanted to find Avery's treasure with Nate mainly, because of their history together. When he decides at the end to run to the cave without him, he probably knows that Nate comes after him, even Sully says: "He called your bluff." So basically he has this stupid plan, that he after two years of searching the treasure leaves the powerfull dangerous rich man Rafe, and told Nate this hard lie about Alcazar, no matter the consequences. Because he's really desperate, but he really wants Nate to go with him on this great pirate adventure.

If He really wanted to screw her over he would've killed her right then and there. Why would he need her anymore, if he bought the loyalty of her mercenaries?
3N Productions Nadine was the one trying to screw him over. If you look at Uncharted 4 objectively, Nate and Sam and the villains and cold-blooded murderers. They steal from a guy who's trying to get the treasure in a more-or-less legitimate way.
As much as Nathan has killed people, he only kills when he has no other choice. He always tried to incapacitate people when he can, and only kills when he has to
That “C’mon legend” & all those references of previous games is to YOU the player, that’s why we get the chills every time! Because the story is actually about YOU! You lived through it all! That makes this fight so much more intense & powerful!
Honestly bro I don’t even know how they made a game so good like this is in my opinion the best finale in video game history this was so good and the fact that rafe was mentioning the other games about Nate’s discoveries and achievements is amazing that was really cool how they added that in there
what i love about Rafe's character is that that one line of dialogue says it all "You just don't know when to give up! That's good! Don't hand it to me!...i have had everything handed to me...on a Goddamn...Silver Platter" That line of dialogue is indicating that rather than using his own riches, he wanted to accomplish something for himself once, He didn't want it handed to him, He wanted to find it the hard way, the way how it should, He wanted to be reconciliation for his work
You can tell how rafe lost his mind with the obsession of finding this treasure, it's like how Avery and that other pirate lost their minds for the treasure, history kind of repeats itself, it's like Avery and The other pirate, they were ounce partners but Avery lost his sanity in his greed and killed those close to him, even citizens, and Nathan and rafe were ounce partners but along the way rafe lost it, history does repeat itself
I love Rafe's development He is a perfect mirror of Drake if he had remained obsessed with pirate treasure. Where Nathan mourned the treasure (mourning for Samuel). Rafe to continue. Nathan has moved on to such an extent that he has had great adventures whether it be El Dorado, Shambala or Rub al khali. Rafe has stuck on Avery's treasure to the point of going mad. Drake evolved with Elena, Sully and even Chloe where Rafe remained the same
Wanna hear something weird? When Rafe and I sword fighted on hard difficulty, we fought FOREVER. I kept damaging him then finally after a while, when I slice him one last time, he fell straight to the ground. Then the checkpoint restarted. I think I killed him :p
I still Consider Rafe the best Villian in all of the Uncharted Series!,doesn't matter if he's child's play to Lazarvich or Talbot or The first Villian from Uncharted one(forgot his name),Rafe is Jealous of Nate and wants to take him down,he wants fame! And this boss fight was also the best even if it was just A QTE!
Dude Rafe was AMAZING in this game. The voice acting completely superb. This fight gave me chills the whole time I was just so wrapped up in the moment. Hands down my favorite villain of all the uncharted games uncharted 4 is definitely my favorite of the series for sure.
@@EE-rd4hy I have The Nathan Drake Collection after I got it for free, then my uncle gave me Uncharted 4, then in my birthday, I bought The Lost Legacy digitally for $20 from my uncle.
One of the best final boss fights in gaming. I know it’s not super gameplay heavy but it’s just so cinematic and thematic while also still being very engaging.
there is some symbolism in this game, and if you play through it and pay attention to the puzzles you will notice: henry avery = rafe Thomas tew = nate
If Tew would’ve been Nate, they would’ve both died. Tew wanted gold like Avery (Rafe) and paid the consequences. Nate didn’t care, he only wanted to save his brother, that’s why he survived.
There were tons of symbolism in the game, one example is the slow descent towards insanity by avery and Tew represents the brothers slow descent towards insanity too represented by their illusions of grandeur of a fucking pirate ship worth 400 million dollars.
Nadine: “I said look!” Rafe: “Fine! It’s a couple of skeletons.” Nadine: “I don’t know as much history in the Last Of Us series as you boys do, but I think I know who those are.” Nate: “It’s Joel and Ellie, their heads were caved in by a golf club.”
Nah I’m dead serious the boss fight on crushing is very easy. Notice how I said boss fight. I didn’t do the whole game on crushing mode fuck that😂 I just changed the difficulty to crushing mode on the boss fight
Sam is one of the sweetest brothers. I wish my older brother was like him. He just jumps in the way of the bullet without hesitation. And then he's crushed and about to die and his words Are "I gotta know you made it out alright". I love it
What an epic final boss it was! I love how Naughty Dog made you think Sam would fully betray you, or die at the end. But instead they said screw predictability. This was the best game in the whole series. What a strong finish!
For all the shit TLOU2 gets, you gotta admit it’s presentation isn’t one of them. Goddamn, that’s one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever seen on a console.
Oh my god...Why...Why did the serie have to end? It's so hard when you gotta leave them behind forever, without knowing anything of them..Even if it's a fictional character. I swear, Uncharted will be forever in our hearts. 🙏😭
(As I saw in someone's else video) The greatest part of this whole fight is the fact that Nate is actually very skillful in hand to hand combat. He, probably, doesn't even know to use a sword correctly, tho. If you notice, he deals more damage to Rafe punching and kicking him than actually using the sword. Brilliant! (Forget my english, it's not my mother language)
I cant even express with words how dear I hold the entirety of the uncharted Franchise, I am so happy that I got to grow up with this gane, I wouldn’t’ve wanted my childhood any different, watching this makes me wanna play all 5 games and Lost Legacy again (yes, even Golden Abyss) its just a nostalgia trip to watch literally anything uncharted related ❤️❤️
I liked this boss fight a lot because of how cinematic it was and how ironic it was that they had a sword fight in a pirate ship full of treasure that they were looking for and they two dead pirates who died doing the same thing years ago it’s like a re incarnation of what happened just in modern times lol
2:20 Nadine's remark here echoes the inscription on the crucifix of St Dismas that Nate retrieves at the start of the game: 'We are due the rewards of our deeds.' It all comes full circle at the end. Rafe languished in his greed and thus died literally buried in his treasure. Nathan chose to save his brother and received salvation. They were telling us how this was gonna play out in the first sequence of the game. Terrific.

He screwed her over when he almost let Sam shot her lol
I love how Nate only uses the sword for defence and to break Rafe’s guard, when he does break it he simply punches him

what i love about Rafe's character is that that one line of dialogue says it all
"You just don't know when to give up! That's good! Don't hand it to me!...i have had everything handed to me...on a Goddamn...Silver Platter"
That line of dialogue is indicating that rather than using his own riches, he wanted to accomplish something for himself once, He didn't want it handed to him, He wanted to find it the hard way, the way how it should, He wanted to be reconciliation for his work

there is some symbolism in this game, and if you play through it and pay attention to the puzzles you will notice: henry avery = rafe Thomas tew = nate
If Tew would’ve been Nate, they would’ve both died. Tew wanted gold like Avery (Rafe) and paid the consequences. Nate didn’t care, he only wanted to save his brother, that’s why he survived.
CaptainJackValdy's Crew actually tew is Sam
Other way around buddy
There were tons of symbolism in the game, one example is the slow descent towards insanity by avery and Tew represents the brothers slow descent towards insanity too represented by their illusions of grandeur of a fucking pirate ship worth 400 million dollars.

I think this is the only boss that Nathan killed. In the other games, he defiantly made them close to death, but he's never dealt the killing blow.
Ethan Muncy Wrong, in the first one, he killed the final boss by sinking both him and the El Dorado to the bottom of the ocean.
Hayden The first boss actually drowned with the statue. So technically, Nate didn't deal the killing blow.
