As someone that doesn't follow the private lifes of the disembodied voices that talk to me through TH-cam, I was very worried when you mentioned a new co-host
Congrats Cassie, I’m glad you’re living you’re best life and being brave enough to reveal that to the audience. Coming out was one of the hardest things of my life. Also major props to Charles for sticking up for her.
Only just started the episode but wanted to say I'm so happy for Cassie, she is very brave and Charles is such a great friend to support her! Warms my heart to see :D
If I had a penny for every time one of my favorite long form history youtubers turned out to be trans I'd have 3 pennies. Which isn't a lot but its funny that it happened thrice
I never write comments bc I listen to this podcast during my commute but it was very nice to see that a co host that I've listened to for years be open. Love the show. Happy for Cassie. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations on coming out Cassandra! And thank you both for this wonderful Christmas gift, a new episode! My favorite podcast ever, always. 💚❤️🤍🎄🩷🩵🤍 Edit: as an American, Chris Christie is as cryptid as they come 😂
I've been a long time listener of the podcast/channel, and let me just say Cassie is more than just a welcome voice but expected. Congrats to her for coming out, and I'm looking forward to future episodes with her voice (and you too, Charles) to continue putting me to sleep most nights.
I didn't think a Mytholigical episode would ever make me cry, congratulations Cassie, I'm truly so happy for you, thank you for sharing yourself with us ❤️ Additionally, I will be using "Fix your hearts or PERISH"
That part about St Nicolas and the bag of gold... My german speaking grandma had a tradition of giving either chocolate coins covered in gold foil, or actual coins, sometimes both. They were in our stockings and it wasn't Christmas without those gold coins! She also mentioned something about her grandfather having had been a wealthy man from a prominent family. Apparently each Christmas he would ride around town and give out gifts and coins to the poor. This would have been in the early 1800's in northern Germany. It was a great story 😊
I always listen to the podcast version but this episode deserved a comment. Cassi, your voice is so happy and full of hope. I hope we can listen to it for many years to come. As usual you make a great podcast. Keep it going, with long breaks and all ❤
Best myth duo currently on the planet! The difference between those episodes, and those with generic text and ai voice over is vast... at least seven arshins... And congets on the podcast reveal, hope youll feel more comfortable moving around ✌️
I always enjoyed it when you both were on a video, and literally 30 seconds into this video, I said, "Oh boy, I hope crofty is in this one, and I was pleasantly disappointed .
I'm not sure about you people in Europe, but in North America the "horse apple" is the fruit of the Bois D'Arc tree (Osage Orange), which produces a hard, green fruit that is NOT edible. Ahem!
Listening for the second time and enjoying every second. And my heart is so full from your friendship and Cassie’s good news-and her lovely voice! Charles, sending you well wishes for healing given your loss.
Nothing but love for Cassie (Casey? Cassy?) and wishing them the best on their journey of transition. I will still be throwing a fit over the upload schedule.
Ahhh yeaaahhh just what I needed while I'm cleaning g my house for Xmas to get me in the mood 😂 and it has been a while! Good to have you back in time for the holiday season, Merry Christmas, chaps ❤
I grew up in east germany and we have the Nicholas day on the 6th (we dropped the saint part), where Nicholas comes and fills our shoes in the night with sweets. We have to clean the shoes in advance though! And we have christmas too, with Christkind and / or the so called Weihnachtsmann (an amalgamation of several figures). So we get presents twice in December.
Congratulations Cassie! And I’m so proud of Charles for immediately warning TH-cam commenters, “come for Cassie, and regret it!”Welcome Cassie, your voice is lovely, and I am so excited about this episode ❤
1:51:30 I'm now imagining an alternate timeline where Santa delivers presents in a private jet equipped with heat-seaking gift missiles. Make sure you keep some embers in your fireplace so they can lock on.
What a wonderful way to start a mythology Christmas episode about the jolly old fat guy himself. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and even if you don't celebrate Christmas, I want you and your loved ones to have a wonderful time.
I’ve only just discovered Mythillogical recently and don’t usually comment but wanted to express love and support to Cassie. Look forward to listening for years to come.
hoo, for a sec there i was worried your co-host was gonna be A.I. maybe 'Jim cant swim' has given me post traumatic AI disorder. regardless, congrats cassie, glad to have you here! please be merciful on my soul, charles. thank you for the great videos.
Here in Belgium we changed zwarte Piet (black Pete) into a white guy whose face was blackened by soot, in the much beloved children show "Dag Sinterklaas" in 1992. His face is blackened by soot because he is the guy going through the chimneys to deliver the presents to the children. This has basically become the canon form of Sinterklaas and black Pete. The people who stick to the "traditional", very racist version of zwarte Piet are very rare here in Belgium, it's mostly a Dutch thing.
St. Nicholas Channel is also the name of a beautiful mangrove in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Home to many manatees and flamingoes, but no reindeer unfortunately.
2:01:00 I'm surprised you were surprised by this, for me it always seemed obvious that Rudolph was a recent addition, he's always set up in the stories as a new thing you know?
...and now I have finished the episode! Fun fact, I live on the west coast of Norway, and grew up being told and warned about both nisser and trolls. We sat out porridge for nissen, and once, he even came by on Christmas eve, with a sack filled with gifts! I also did a tradition for many years on New Years eve called Nyttårsbukk. We would go door to door, singing carols, in costumes and got candy.... Halloween seems to be replacing that tradition. Some people here are sad about that, and part of me is that too, but we have soo many festive traditions around the winter solstice, and none for the fall. So its fine with me. I also read an article today about a bronse age burial mound found near Gloppefjorden in western Norway, and someone in the comments section said that that would be the grave of the first farmer on that land. And then, later generations would leave him food so he would help attend to the animals, and then that later developed into the more modern version of putting out porridge for nissen. Anyway, Congratulations again to Cassie and God Jul to the both of you^_^
I haven't the full podcast yet but I'm loving it 😊 Also I want to congratulate and show support to Cassie for her decision. I hope she finds happiness in her new life ❤❤❤
I don't spend a lot of time on TH-cam comments but I just wanted to say Cassie is awesome and I am very happy for her and wish her nothing but the best!!!
Congrats Cassie! Proud for you to be you. It shouldn't require courage for people to live openly as themselves, but sadly it does, and you're a true badass for it.
Bold choice Cassie ❤ and welcome! I promise not falling into the mythological trap and doubt anything you say ❤ Also Charles- best ally every 🎉 if they can't fix their heart may the good gods hit then where they chose to split them.
Somewhat ironically Heimskringla was actually pretty well pronounced. Some of the place names in classical Asia Minor could have benefited from looking up the pronounciations.
Didn’t get to this until now, whereas I normally listen on the pod. Anyway, it makes sense of a few things, and good on you Cas for taking that step on the podcast.
congratulations on the important step Cassie, I feel even more comfortable listening to the podcasts, the care for different cultures has always been transparent on your part, do not accept anything less than respectful here in the comments!

Crofty was a frighteningly English name. Cassandra is far superior.
