Fantastic job !!! I've been watching your progress. Your buckeye train is giving the team good luck this year lol. Look forward to more videos. Happy railroading !!!
Are those Graves turnouts? Also very cool layout. Love the loop. Maybe make a video on what controls them to stop and start while waiting on the other train to switch track
Vic, I made a long video a couple months ago on my train automation. Check it out if you have time. If you still have questions, let me know! All of the turnouts are Ross custom switches.
Just subscribed. What’s the layout size? One thing, maybe the Z4K should be up higher. Since you will always have to have the handle down before turning it on. I really like the use of space.
The bench work is 6.5’ x 14’ now. I can’t go any wider than that and still be able to comfortably walk around the whole layout. Once built, the end wall will be 6 feet past the end of the layout as well. I will most likely be moving the z4000 up to the shelf level that I haven’t built yet.
@@whitmorestrains I'm in the process of seeing if I can move my layout up into a large bedroom upstairs. I want to regain the family room back. I like the use of the several levels. I also thought it was wider than you said. I'm thinking my layout could be 20x12 when I'm done. I definitely need a 72 loop but am hoping I could go bigger. Thanks for the info. I'll be watching for updates.
@@MartyE For some reason even the 054 loops look wide. The 072 really looks wide until you put a big boy on it…but I’m darn happy with the progress, even if it’s slow. I don’t think I would be able to move this layout. It has been built piece by piece as I design it, and it’s now darn heavy.
I have lots of cars, engines and track but I’m limited to a 96” by 77” layout and I can’t think of anything that goes from one place to another and has room for a yard.
This layout started at 5’x9’ and is now 6.5”x14’. I suggest you look at other layouts for ideas, maybe model different those ideas on paper or use a computer design program to try some different things. I think what matters most is that you are having fun with the hobby and don’t get hung up on not having your A to Z design all figured out before you start. I got to this point just building one board at a time, and I change up stuff as I go finding what I like and what works for me. Just have fun with it!

Thanks Andy!
Great Job! Strong Work!!
Well thanks!
Thanks for the video update.
It's looking great!
Thanks for the update, nice layout.
Love the Ohio State locomotive and rolling stock. Where did you get them?
Great layout, and go Illini.
Can I love and hate a comment at the same time :). Thanks James!
Very nice layout expansion. Great for running trains.
Thanks Rick! It sure has made a difference having a track for trains needing 072 minimum. It’s nice having one of those on the layout!
This looks awesome. Great inspiration!
Great looking layout!!!!
Hardy benchwork. Nice that you used tube.
