This is 4 years old so you've probably fixed it but I'll answer anyway. That trap by your windshield that has no debris has a gasket on the back of it. If it's not sealed properly water will run behind there and all the way to the back seat. Take it apart and replace the seal and the water will go away
Air conditioning drain under the two pipes in the firewall... you'll find a plastic/rubber tube. Take it off and clean it out It allows water out and not in, the get blocked
Also .... try this ..... common fault on Volvo S40 ... Mine said "Boot Lid Open" ...when shut .... go to the wiring loom ... on left when boot open .... peel back the rubber and re-join the broken wire ... sorted ............ Note .. make sure the rubber grommet is secured as water will get in and you will have a wet patch behind passenger seat.

I have a volvo v40 with this too. The issue (which can be with most modern air con cars), is that you have air con piped so the passengers can have it on their feet. I only get it on the rear right hand side. I haven't taken it into the garage, but i believe water is getting into the interior fan system piping. Luckily, I have rubber floor mats that catch the water and I keep a dehumidifier there too. Can't help you with a permanent fix though, as I will not brave a costly trip to volvo.
Could be your door(s) are no longer sealed on the inside. Could also be a seal under thje dash with corroded rubbers. Anyhow, to get under the carpet in a BWM 5 series, lift op the rear seat (just give it a firm tug on each corner and it should pop off) , then you can lift the carpet and check underneath. You wont get if out all the way, if you want to do that you need to take out the seat.
It's the back sunroof drain mine had the same problem threw the truck is the easiest way take the covers of the sides and there a tube stick a wire in it will unclog it as soon as I took mine of the clog was right at the end easy fix
So thought id give an insight to my leak i had water in rear footwell audi a5 b9, the audi technicians found that the grommet under the bonnet that is close to the bonnet cable was dislodged, they have now put that back in place so hopefully the car stays dry now.
I hqve the same problem, even when its not raining the water is coming, may be some ac kind of water leakage, instead of going out that qater from car ac is coming in...fed up of cleaning it every time...
@@ShmurdaaaA hey mate. I stripped back the A frame on the side of the leak and blocked up the sunroof drain, it looked like the seal wasn't holding water. I also drilled a hole in the floor of the rear footwell for good measure...

I had the same problem with my 2003 Chevy Impala. in terms of the water from the door, you can poke the bottom of the door like they did here: th-cam.com/video/yV3gP7Mi1-s/w-d-xo.html. Getting water out - use a towel to absorb water and twist the towel to drain out the water. Repeat multiple times.

it's not tho, you're the idiot for even thinking it's the sunroof, his floor is wet nothing else was not his seat nor his other side of the car, therefore it wasn't sunroof.
