This form of doodling I call "mind-mapping"....I've used it for my revision for exams as it helps me remember key facts. I think this helps me as I'm a visual learner! Colour-coding also helps :) I still use it now and I'm currently doing my A-Levels (UK).
Very, Very nicely done report. The amount of non-verbal cues throughout this report is incredible. From the woman showing herself to the reporter, to the reporter checking out the woman, to the blue haired dude and his incredible rebellion against convention to the old dude acting like a mentor and trying to overtake the journalist's thunder. Incredible.
I think there is a HUGE difference between doodling, and drawing pictures/diagrams to contribute to your work or what you are trying to say and get across. I doodle all the time in my school books, all over exams, all over EVERYTHING and it always seems to be pictures of girls, not always females, sometimes males, sometimes just an eye, or lips, or hair. That is my default doodle. Over the years I can see myself evolving in my doodling. I'm not sure if it helps me get my point across or explain things to people with the doodles, but it could possibly help me concentrate.
I have always been taught that by engaging physically in what you are learning, you comprehend more,especially when you are a kinesthetic learner such as in myself. I don't doodle too much; however, I do compulsively sign my name on things.
Why does everything unknown have to be a reason? why does doodling have to have reason? why can't doodling just be that....doodling lol or why does doodling have to have a name lol. Why does life have to have a meaning? why does getting up and going to work, considered having a life? lol oh the world we live in.

doodle is the easiest type of drawing, you just, draw, basically, add detail after detail and so on. it gives a weird feeling, but one thing for sure, it does keep us from zoning out or day dream, like giving the brain something to do. i don't know about the "help to concentrate in class" though, might try it someday
I doodle alot and I am interested in why I doodle my mad doodles but I found this video very uninformative as to what is actually going on inside the brain. No help .Sorry.
It's merely visual "brainstorming".... We designers do it all the time. The first woman is doing.."mind mapping" (term that's been around since the 1980s) she's not breaking new ground on this stuff...its a normal creative, organizing process. The banker (2nd interview) is doing Automatic drawing ..." In automatic drawing, the hand is allowed to move "randomly" across the paper. In applying chance and accident to mark-making, drawing is to a large extent freed of rational control. Hence the drawing produced may be attributed in part to the subconscious and may reveal something of the psyche, which would otherwise be repressed."

It helps me.. as i get information in, and i respond to it.... It helps me feel interactive with the knowledge

Taking notes with doodles is so rewarding and helps so much in remembering the material! This should legit be a method of note taking!!
