Used to be ancient then dropped to archon 3 last year, watching grubby motivated me to not give up on dotes:) ive j recently ranked back up to 3.6k, hopefully i can get back up there with grubby
It's strange watching Grubby because even though I'm a higher rank than him and probably slightly mechanically better. When I listen to him talk about abilities, tactics etc I'm think now that he probably has more knowledge about those things than me after only 150 days. I've been playing for almost 10 years now. Once his situational awareness and map reading naturally improves I'm positive he will fly past me in ranking. Very interesting to watch his journey.
This guys comprehension of the levers in this and warcraft 3 is unreal. When he explains things it makes so much sense but there's no way I'd ever make those conclusions on my own
I feel the same way but maybe I can share some insight! Just watch how and listen carefully to how Grubby breaks down a hero's kit in demo mode. Watch how he experiments. He's very childish and free and just has fun and when he has an idea he tries it out. We can definitely come to conclusions like he does, perhaps in different ways, by learning to explore and think like he does. I guess I just wanted to say that there is a way you can make those conclusions on your own, by imitating his approach to the problem-solving and learning. Mechanics is another thing. I think something so joyful about discovering Grubby, is that he shares his respectful attitude, his methods of learning, and his joy with us. That kind of thing, in my opinion, takes a bit of bravery or humility. I'm gonna sound so corny but one of my favourite qualities in other people is being unafraid to learn. It's soul food.
Grubby, try keeping the lane in your favor by keeping the creeps in front of your tower instead of dragging them to into tower. It's ok to take a little damage, as it forces the enemy to 1) also take damage to try to keep the lane in their favor 2) if they're bad, they will drag them into tower and ur winning lane control (they have to come up farther to reach creeps) --- If Undying drops a tombstone in lane, try to deny it when it's no longer needed if the enemy can get to it. The gold is a lot if the enemy gets it. In most cases, the gold denied from tombstone is worth more than a few creeps (since ur still getting exp) but denying the gold gain on the enemy team. This is further worth it if you're already winning the lane. -- Earth Shaker core and Gyro support means go wand. They're going to be spamming Enchant Totem and Missile. -- Supports getting gold can be better than cores, as their timings are quicker (force staff, glimmer, vessel, mek/greaves) are great game controlling items. Which means the supports and if needed, +1 core can roam better. This all depends on the hero line up though. In this specific case, SB would benefit more since he doesn't farm as fast but can enable ganks much better than a position 1 Razor. However, the issue is that there's not much surprise on your team until Sky gets atos and Doom comes off CD. Smokes are always a thing though. -- Pro tip : When tping on a creep to try and kill someone or when the creeps are being attacked by tower and you want to dive, forting it can be worth it.

Jesus man, I've been playing dota for 12 years, was ancient for most of that time, got SO close to divine once, and then dropped to legend. I'm right on the border of ancient again, hopefully I can break back in once the new patch drops and I might start playing again.
Honestly was skeptical about Grubby playing so much ursa and lina, looks like lina was dropped but he really gave these two carries a fair try and tried to get good with them, and with ursa he made a significant improvement. Divine is probably in reach if Grubby just plays heroes he's already good at and doesn't experiment around.
@@user-jr8rl1cf5m well yea he's working on it, not all attempts at picking up new heroes work but he added at least one more to the pool, something like 70% wr with ursa the past 20 games Grubby played on ursa
@Philip August Kisling nah, you are better picking a few and mastering them. You do need to expand pools a bit but not over do it. Razor is also meta so not picking him is just stupid.
Difficult to maintain ranking when your a parent with a full time job. I really like dota but man it's really hard to a lot more time to maintain my ranking. When I got pushed back to immoral I gave up hahaha.

@@tni333 doom 5 💀. well not this game but the game before there was doom 5 who did nothing early and died consistently throughout that game. Games can be totally ruined by wrong picks. Classic example are pudge supports.
@@annb470 still, if you are better than the bracket you are in then you will eventually get out of it. Grubby has a win rate over 50% so he will climb. It just takes a huge amount of time. 150 days might not sound like a lot but he was doing like 10 games a day on average? 8hours of DotA or so? That is simply not realistic for people who have a "normal" job and just can play an hour or two in the evening at most. Nevertheless very impressive of Grubby to achieve that rank so fast 👍

WP Grubby congrats on Ancient. As soon as you get 3k hp and bloodstone you are unkillable and bait the enemy team really hard. The enemy team not really have anyones who can challenge you late game but early they are many gankers and stuns. It is important to think in advance "What can kill me?" on carries through different stages of the game so you knows how to play safe. For instance gyro+earth need to all in you or you win a long fight. During fight at 7:30 Gyro have 270 mgc dmg with full Q so very deadly but if you are fight with minions they will not all hits you. GGs.
isnt it ideal to skip the meme meta and just build bkb lol ive seen alot of pros getting caught up trying to farm for a bloodstone and get rolled for not buying a bkb first
