It would be cool to see more of that wonderful hidden pully system. It's the part of this trick that's most convincing. It would also be neat to see the prop constructors and lighting guys at work making the system invisible and doing all the technical work of getting the lighting just right. Here the bulk of the technical work is really done before the performers and aids even come into play.

The lights going out is a big giveaway that something is happening. What I would have done if I was planning this trick would be to have the magician himself come out to the front, put the curtains in place and then the fan moves at the same time as the light. That way the audience will still think he's standing behind the fan when he returns there!
