Yes, I was scared of zippers for a really long time, I know what you mean :) but I did a few projects like this and I loved them all. And now I do this all the time 😂
I was scared of zippers too but when you sew one or two things with them you get the hang of it! There is nothing to be scared of :)
I think I'll show my mom this. She doesn't like fooling with zippers but maybe this will change her mind. 😛

+Lauren Fairweather Honestly, this is the first time I've used zippers on anything and they are surprisingly easy to add! I'm sure you would have no problem, you are a pro at sewing!

Last year, in my textiles class, I used some orange and blue retro material from my mum's old bag to make a pencil case. I still use it and it looks awesome!

My daughter and I made this--so cute! She picked the fabric scrap, zipper and size. And I used the hot glue gun, which was super fast. It has held up well too. My only recommendation is to make sure you use a sturdy fabric like she uses so it's not super flimsy. Thanks again, Sea Lemon!

+Katie Draper Oh! That's a magazine rack I got from IKEA years ago. Unfortunately I don't think they sell anything like it anymore. I wanted to purchase a couple more but I haven't seen anything like it since. They do still carry the colorful cups hanging on the ends though.
This is cute! :) I think I'll try a center zipper the next time I sew a pencil bag. I have a zillion markers and other arty supplies so pencil bags keep them somewhat corralled. LOL
