Just to give u some context, "i write what i like" is a book that was written by Steve Biko ( the equivalent of Martin luther king that side) he was a proud black conscious man who was murdered by white ppl for speaking against black oppression...so proverb took tje wordplay further by reversing the title of the book by saying "i like what i write".....and adding a type writer visual in the vid. Proverb is a GOAT, he been in the south African hip hop scene for more than 10 years now, he would be what Nasty C , A-reece and all those youngens would call a godfather of hip hop, him and Ammunition ( the type writing guy with a cig in his mouth in the video). 2. Hype is a magazine well used yo be a very well known hip hop magazine where all new upcoming hip hop talents would release a mix tape of their rap songs and it came with the magazine. So that's where they hype wordplay is coming from. This was way back in the 90's, The magazine don't exist anymore thou since digital took space, we don't know why they never went digital aswell, maybe no funds, copyright issues etc..But way back new hip hop comers dream was to be on this hype magazine and mix tape. 3.
