Hi Connor I've been a long time passionate Leeds fan since 1965 having watched my first ever Leeds game albeit on then black and white TV when we narrowly lost to Liverpool that season in the FA cup final. I used to live in Leeds as a lad but sadly had to move to Nottingham when I was just 10 years of age cos of my now dear departed dad's job. I followed our Leeds all over the country both home and away and was even lucky enough to get a match ticket in 1972 as a 19 year old young man to see our King Billy pick up our only FA cup final silver cup at Wembley. Ime now a 72 year old guy and altho my health isn't so good I am still able to follow and support the Mighty Whites albeit on my TV including live games. I've seen a amazing array of top quality goalkeepers from Gary Sprake (even tho he did have a occasional bad habit of causing mistakes that led to conceding soft goals.) Nevertheless he also saved the team on countless occasions to win games also. But my top 5 goalkeeper s for Leeds not necessarily in this order are 1. David Harvey. 2. John Lukic. 3. Nigel Martin. 4. Mervyn Day. 5. Gary Sprake. All the above goalkeepers commanded there box with confidence and the Leeds defence knew that they had a solid reliable guy behind them in goal. In the case of Ilan Meslier although I feel so sorry and sad for him I just don't think that consistently he is a match for the 5 top goalkeepers ive listed. He either needs a long rest and then sold on or the club has to buy a better quality goalkeeper or give Karl Darlow a long period of game time. That is my honest opinion having been a very long time Leeds fan Connor. I agree with you that if the club persists in continue playing Elan Meslier it could very well cost us automatic promotion never mind horror of horrors even the playoffs.

Fair point , these are the ones who train him to flap at corners / Ariel attacks , so it’s not surprising what so ever . His own team mates don’t trust him yet Farke and his staff are so adamant about him , they are the ones to blame when it all blows up in they’re face not that it already hasn’t . If he was a horse he'd be shot dead for mercy. Meslier has great attributes, but he cannot handle the pressure. This has been evident over the last few years. It's going to take him weeks again to build up a single grain of confidence. We won't replace him now. Should have done in the summer. He goes regardless of if we get promotion this season.
And just to add about remaining loyal to him.... I get it from the clubs point of view. If we don't go up, he's an asset that could make us a reasonable amount of money. If we bench him for the rest of the season (which I would, forget the potential sell on fee) then he's basically devalued and will go for like 3m. If they had a crystal ball and could see wed get promoted with him on the bench. They'd do it in a heartbeat. But we could be up sh*tcreek if we don't go up and he's worthless.
If we don't replace Meslier NOW, then we are taking risks of not gaining promotion this season, that will probably cost Farke his job, and quite rightly so. We always manage to shoot ourselves in the foot. We haven't learned our mistakes from last January. Crazy management/owners.
If we don't go up this year, then we have to deal with Leicester and Southampton again next year who are much stronger than Sheffield United and Burnley. This is the ideal time to do it not next year when we lose our best players again.

I'm a Leeds fan and if we don't end up in the top 2 we DON'T get promoted. Our play-offs record is abysmal! Farke is arrogant and extremely stubborn and he's underachieving with this team, yes we're currently top but the top four are very close to each other and it's very worrying if we're going to have another 'quiet' window.
If it wasn’t for Meslier we’d be 5points clear now minimum. Farke has done overall a great job so far but I admit he needs to change Meslier. The board needs to change him.
Why do we have 3 pairs of wingers all capable of starting in this league while our GK would give an assist to the opposition side in a crucial game? I've been saying this for years but people kept on saying its our defenders that weren't good enough. We blamed it on Cooper, Koch, but when it comes to Meslier, its always that hes young and he'll get better, he just won Golden Glove, etc. This guy is turning 25 this year and hasn't improved 1 bit since our promotional season, if anything, he seems to make more stupid mistakes now.

Darlow number 1. Meslier's confidence is shot he can't put him in goal again this season. Any good keeper deals with that corner at Blackburn and tips the ball over at Hull.
Doesn't fill me with confidence of automatic considering how last season played out under the same approach in deciding not to reinforce in the squad in January which evidently costs us towards the back end of last season

At this stage of the season and the fact we are a championship team our options for another keeper are limited, for me there are other areas where need to strengthen, RB / LB and a number 10 would be my personal choice.
There are always options if you are willing to pay, especially for a goal keeper if they are confident they will get a starting spot. We are the biggest club in the championship and somehow have one of the weakest keepers.
I said this to my friend the other day that this was going to happen, no players would come in, and that the club and Farke are satisfied in what we already have. We have all been eagerly wanting a 10, another striker and maybe another defender, but it looks like the powers that be have decided to sit on their laurels and stick with what they've got 🤔😏

Meslier scares me to the point I think I will become ill But I've never understood why when an outfield player is having a mare of a game they get subbed off but a Goalkeeper having a mare does the full 90 minutes. Meslier just comes across as not being 100% for the club and just takes a pay cheque paid for by 30000 + fans week in week out.

Is one or two signings considered “a very quiet window”? Can’t imagine the 49rs/Farke coming out and saying we are after a keeper. It would drive Meslier’s valuation down and increase the price of the replacement. I think an attacker comes in only if they are better than our current ones.
If Meslier stays in the net, we will struggle to go up. He is honestly the worst keeper in the league. Those mistakes weren't normal. A sunday league keeper doesn't make the mistakes against Sunderland and Hull.

What the frig has Gelhardt and Bamford got to do with anything. They are not a part of the bigger picture. Not sure if Farke or 49ers is running the show, but it will be a struggle to get automatic without a few new signings.
So far we’ve seen Phil Hay move on, seen or heard very little of Nancy Froston. Inferred reason is that the club doesn’t really talk to journalists. Why would Popey have the inside track. We also saw last summer, Farke throw his bosses under the “No. 10” bus. Doubt that’ll be repeated so I think Farke’s toeing the company line. As we know, not much is telegraphed by the club in respect of transfers.
I'm not a Leeds fan per se, but have been following their fortunes from afar for a few seasons, so I think I've got an objective view. Meslier should have been replaced four seasons ago. His mistakes have far outweighed any decent saves he's made. I agree with all the comments about no auto promotion with him in goal.
I’m a Blade - but I did start out as a Leeds “admirer” back in the late 60’s! I do stats and Leeds have the best xg, best xga and a keeper who Is 19th in goals prevented. With a Cooper or Trafford, or even Cumming, you would have at least another 8 points. Get rid of Meslier & Farke - Blades, Leeds and Pigs go up and Yorkies are back! Magic!
If Farke can’t make the decision of dropping Meslier, then there is a reason that Darlow is not up to the job, so we need to be looking for a keeper for next season.
I would be surprised if any club comes in for Meslier or Bamford?? We do need a proper no9 who will get into the box, not stay outside it. When teams play 5 at the back and 5 in midfield, we need someone to get amongst them in the box, and cause a bit of mayhem, and blocking the goalkeeper. They are too comfortable as we pass the ball from side to side. MOT

Probably a little too harsh, but the blunders do need to stop. We've let in the 3rd least amount of goals with only Sheff Utd letting in 2 less, and Burnley letting in 10 less (although Burnley are the type of team that doesn't score goals or let in goals so that's a bit of an anomaly and shouldn't be included in comparison because our play style is wildly different to theirs). I think he is good enough, he has good rapport with the defence and overall has a pretty good command of them too. Just needs to stop the silly blunders like not tipping it over the net vs hull, which is easily solveable. In general he's very good at 1v1's which is something we need to keep when we play high up the field as they happen to us more than they do other teams. When it comes to defending corners, which has always been a Leeds issue, we need to be a bit more smart about using Pascal and his height to mark the right players when they are all in the box and not relying on a short Dan James to mark the far post, not completely Mesliers fault IMO but a general teamwide one.

No club publicly states they will have a 'busy' Jan window...relax lads. Darlow will be fine and he will play I'm sure. We are also top scorers so don't need any more fire power.
Treatment of the young players is shocking. Team run on a shoestring. Approximately £300 million amassed in transfers over the last few years. This money will be put toward expanding the stadium with the hope we go up, then 49ers will sell to red bull and pocket the profit. No steel in the team, no leaders. As a fan since the sixties I have had enough of this team, this manager. Lack of ambition in the club, if we go up we'll be straight back down unless we get a fast, dominant in the air centre back, a quality No 10 and a proven striker. Not investing anymore of my emotions on this team.
The bottom line here guys is to question; really how good is Farke as a manger, for LUFC he hasn't produced in my view, we should have gone up last year but instead we lost some great players, with exception to a few we are not currently EPL material.

But I am very much behind the manager at the moment, so I think it’s a little odd to say people who back to manager don’t have opinions - I think most of us recognise some flaws but still believe that right now he is our best option for manager and best chance of taking us up. Miss a sitter and it is still 0-0, A keeper makes a mistake and it is 0-1. The problem with Meslier is that he makes more howlers than most to say he faces the least shots in the entire division. Top of the league maybe, but it would have been by so much more if that flapping hologram was anywhere near half decent.

I said this to my friend the other day that this was going to happen, no players would come in, and that the club and Farke are satisfied in what we already have. And secondly he is on a wedge of a wage, why would he want to go. Unfortunately were stuck with the lad, it would be an absolute miracle if we go up with him playing.
Is one or two signings considered “a very quiet window”? Can’t imagine the 49rs/Farke coming out and saying we are after a keeper. It would drive Meslier’s valuation down and increase the price of the replacement. I think an attacker comes in only if they are better than our current ones.

If Meslier stays in the net, we will struggle to go up. He is honestly the worst keeper in the league. Those mistakes weren't normal. A sunday league keeper doesn't make the mistakes against Sunderland and Hull.

What the frig has Gelhardt and Bamford got to do with anything. They are not a part of the bigger picture. Not sure if Farke or 49ers is running the show, but it will be a struggle to get automatic without a few new signings.

If Farke can’t make the decision of dropping Meslier, then there is a reason that Darlow is not up to the job, so we need to be looking for a keeper for next season.

When teams play 5 at the back and 5 in midfield, we need someone to get amongst them in the box,

The way I see it mate we start darlow for the next few games and show what he’s about if he has a howler then we can see what farke is working with.
Probably a little too harsh, but the blunders do need to stop. We've let in the 3rd least amount of goals with only Sheff Utd letting in 2 less, and Burnley letting in 10 less (although Burnley are the type of team that doesn't score goals or let in goals so that's a bit of an anomaly and shouldn't be included in comparison because our play style is wildly different to theirs).
I think he is good enough, he has good rapport with the defence and overall has a pretty good command of them too. Just needs to stop the silly blunders like not tipping it over the net vs hull, which is easily solveable.
In general he's very good at 1v1's which is something we need to keep when we play high up the field as they happen to us more than they do other teams.
When it comes to defending corners, which has always been a Leeds issue, we need to be a bit more smart about using Pascal and his height to mark the right players when they are all in the box and not relying on a short Dan James to mark the far post, not completely Mesliers fault IMO but a general teamwide one.
This club is a business with a long term plan and it doesn’t sound like they are too fussed about promotion or winning the league

No club publicly states they will have a 'busy' Jan window...relax lads. Darlow will be fine and he will play I'm sure. We are also top scorers so don't need any more fire power.
Treatment of the young players is shocking. Team run on a shoestring. Approximately £300 million amassed in transfers over the last few years. This money will be put toward expanding the stadium with the hope we go up, then 49ers will sell to red bull and pocket the profit. No steel in the team, no leaders. As a fan since the sixties I have had enough of this team, this manager. Lack of ambition in the club, if we go up we'll be straight back down unless we get a fast, dominant in the air centre back, a quality No 10 and a proven striker. Not investing anymore of my emotions on this team.
We won't go up so planning for the PL is pointless.

The bottom line here guys is to question; really how good is Farke as a manger, for LUFC he hasn't produced in my view, we should have gone up last year but instead we lost some great players, with exception to a few we are not currently EPL material.

to me, this tells me that farke and the board will make meslier fireproof.
For the most part I back Farke, but there are some things that irk me of course. Sticking by Meslier is the biggest issue. But I am very much behind the manager at the moment, so I think it’s a little odd to say people who back to manager don’t have opinions - I think most of us recognise some flaws but still believe that right now he is our best option for manager and best chance of taking us up.
In my opinion the people who say “Farke out” with no reasoning and no thought process are the one’s who actually don’t have their own opinions.

Miss a sitter and it is still 0-0, A keeper makes a mistake and it is 0-1. The problem with Meslier is that he makes more howlers than most to say he faces the least shots in the entire division. Top of the league maybe, but it would have been by so much more if that flapping hologram was anywhere near half decent.
As a Wigan Athletic fan, we lost Joe Gelhardt in our administration. Sad to see what has happened to him.
