Same in America, in the last decade you see a lot of women commentating on baseball; yet none of them played baseball, they played softball, a variation on baseball with no equivalent professional league to MLB.
A couple of things 1) he wasn't "sacked". He was self employed under a fixed term contract that SSN chose not to renew. 2) it was a news organisation so anyone with half a brain can see they can't have someone associated with them using their platform to spread conspiracy theories. The fact many of Matt's claims have been thoroughly debunked as well doesn't seem to have phased him 3) he had a much longer run than most presenters get but the fact is him and people like Mark Lawrence were a long time retired from the game and younger audiences didn't even know who they played for. 4) he was warned multiple times about spreading the conspiracy theories and ignored SSN. This is from the same bloke who bragged on air he used to do match fixing when he was playing. He used to put bets on himself getting booked or conceding throw ins etc then do that during the game In summary he was a reckless fool as a player and it didn't change when he was a pundit
Matt is always interesting to listen to, and has great insight into the things he is involved with. In a normal world, that would mean he would be in demand.
The industry of football is weird and doesn't appreciate honesty. Fair play to Tiss, he has an opinion and isn't scared of voicing it. I'm tired of footy as it has become no longer a sport but an £'s earner and that sickens me, as I am sure it does Tiss.
In the world we live in now you can behave like an idiot and explain it away with conspiracy after conspiracy. Hes the kind of guy who can never be humble and never be wrong.
Total respect for Matt Le Tissier, brilliant footballer, and a man who doesn't compromise his beliefs. It comes to something when you're not allowed to have an opinion.
Great insight and interview: I’ve just realised how much Matt looks like Dr John Campbell who was also cancelled by the MSM who is also an expert in his field. Love listening to both Matt and Dr John 👍🏻
In reality he should've been sacked when he confessed in his autobiography to being involved in betting fraud - if he'll admit one case publicly, how many others was he involved in?
When did he say he was surprised? And are you defending the moral integrity of such a system? If not, then you're in agreement with him, you're just too stupid and/or indoctrinated to be able to follow a sentance enough to realise you agree with it -- which is really quite sad.
@Ceno-2k *sentence Where did I say that I thought Tiss was shocked..? I'm merely commenting on the fact that a company operating in a capitalist system is entirely geared towards profit, so therefore makes it's decisions accordingly, i.e. avoid controversy, appeal to the broadest demographics possible. That's entirely unsurprising and has no bearing on the actual views being espoused, instead reflecting the commercial risk those views pose. It's not some conspiracy to stifle freedom of speech, which is often what these kinds of podcasts insinuate, rather, the suppression of those views is led by their commercial appeal rather than their veracity. Any view which risks turning off viewers or causing controversy which could negatively impact an advertiser is an unnecessary risk for a company like Sky Sports to take. That's not an endorsement or a criticism of how things work, merely an acknowledgement that this is how they work and that an employee courting controversy is unlikely to last long in that environment. Whether what they say is true or false is besides the point, it's the fact that their views represent a risk to profit which makes such employees unappealing. There's also a leap being made here that Tiss was sacked because of airing his opinions. Whilst that certainly contributed to his removal and made him a risky employee to keep on the books, there were other pundits like Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson who were let go around the same time and did not air the same kinds of opinions, so to focus on that particular point appears to me to be disingenuous when there was clearly a broader restructuring going on. Within that context it really does just appear that Sky Sports wanted to broaden their appeal by diversifying their presenters, which I have no problem with in principle but I do criticise the replacements in this instance because they simple aren't very good, which goes for Warnock and Dawson as much as any of the 'diverse' hires. Ultimately, if we're looking to sports companies for our morality or to be bastions of free speech then I'd suggest we might be misunderstanding their function in society 🤷
@@TheRatlord74 This has gotta be a joke right..? 😂 We don't vote for companies because they're private entities which the owners can run as they wish within the existing legal framework. The idea of voting for who runs companies or how they choose to conduct themselves sounds a lot like some kind of 21st century communism to me 😅 Employers can choose to terminate your employment if you affect the company's potential profits, meaning they're under no obligation to maintain your employment if you say things which are contradiction of your contract with them. Almost every company contract will have clauses related to public conduct which afford companies discretion to terminate employment over matters like this, so by signing that contract you are indeed allowing a company to take action in response to your speech. Your criticisms appear to me to be ones better directed at capitalism because these are byproducts of that economic system 🤷
When you sign a contract there is a clause in it about disparaging your employer and their ethics. Matt signed the deal then broke the rules. If you dont agree with that then get another job. Not a big deal. If you walk into burger king in your mcdonalds uniform screaming that mcdonalds is sh1t, you'll get fired. Matt did that but against sky.
Maybe, but Le Tissier still has too much too say and he had clearly been warned a few times. If you don't like your job and the conditions/environment that goes with it then move on, quite simple. Most of us put up with far more in our jobs, than he had to in what is a job most of us can only dream of doing.

And i agree with Matt , women commentate on the women's game ,men on the men's game. Everyone's happy.
very articulate explanations by LeTiss...the calmness he showed on the pitch is reflected in how he expresses himself
And Gary Lineker can say whatever he wants on BBC and nothing is done. Crazy world.
Because Gary Linekar is a virtue signaller and a representative of his management.
The BBC and Sky are different creatures entirely. Can you present a logical point?
@@purehyperbole5727 that's why he specifically put "BBC" in his comment. His point is that Matt isn't allowed a view on Sky but Gary can on the BBC. They are both media organisations and under the same ofcom rules but for some reason Gary can say what he want but Matt can't. Hope that helps u
@@purehyperbole5727if he didn't put "BBC" your comment would be valid but he did so your comment looks a bit silly. Just delete it and only us 3 will know 😂
Maybe because Gary isnt a tin foil hat wearing whack job
I agree with you. I don’t like Sky how they operate. That is why I don’t subscribe to them.
MLT is a legend on and off the pitch. I watched his whole career as a Southampton season ticket holder.
Legend of the game, need him on mainstream media and we need the truth and not narratives
matt you were a great talent and entertainer ..your also a true man you have honour and dignity and can walk tall forever.
Respect to Matt for standing up for his ideas
Same in America, in the last decade you see a lot of women commentating on baseball; yet none of them played baseball, they played softball, a variation on baseball with no equivalent professional league to MLB.
I don't care what they played, they just sound awful.
A couple of things
1) he wasn't "sacked". He was self employed under a fixed term contract that SSN chose not to renew.
2) it was a news organisation so anyone with half a brain can see they can't have someone associated with them using their platform to spread conspiracy theories. The fact many of Matt's claims have been thoroughly debunked as well doesn't seem to have phased him
3) he had a much longer run than most presenters get but the fact is him and people like Mark Lawrence were a long time retired from the game and younger audiences didn't even know who they played for.
4) he was warned multiple times about spreading the conspiracy theories and ignored SSN.
This is from the same bloke who bragged on air he used to do match fixing when he was playing. He used to put bets on himself getting booked or conceding throw ins etc then do that during the game
In summary he was a reckless fool as a player and it didn't change when he was a pundit
People getting punished for telling the truth. What a backwards world we live in.
All about the world order desperate to control all of us decent and honest people...
Yet again honest words. It's what we all think and most people dare not say 🤔🤔🤔👍👍👍👍
Love this guys honesty regardless of any repercussions.
He is correct about the women commentators.
didn't catch anything he ISN'T correct on. 'I don't respect them, I have a level of understanding but I don't respect them', heh, class.
good for you Matt for speaking your mind . enjoyed watching this interview , good luck in the future .
Hes explained it. Countless times. He tefused to tow the party line. So they sacked him. Unsuprising.
The word boring shines brightly
Main Reason I left Sky! They will never get my money again!
Matt is a stand up guy who is not afraid to speak the truth
In the world we live in now you can behave like an idiot and explain it away with conspiracy after conspiracy. Hes the kind of guy who can never be humble and never be wrong.
he's a headcase...
Total respect for Matt Le Tissier, brilliant footballer, and a man who doesn't compromise his beliefs. It comes to something when you're not allowed to have an opinion.
Pity he wasn't as honest about Sky and his colleagues whilst he was taking the Sky money, That I would have respected
He was under an nda, he obviously couldn't!
Great insight and interview: I’ve just realised how much Matt looks like Dr John Campbell who was also cancelled by the MSM who is also an expert in his field. Love listening to both Matt and Dr John 👍🏻
In reality he should've been sacked when he confessed in his autobiography to being involved in betting fraud - if he'll admit one case publicly, how many others was he involved in?
respect to you Matt, you are the one of the good guys :)
Paul Merson told us in an interview that Matt refused to follow rules several times so was sacked
Follow the rules, or follow the dogma? There's a distinct difference.
Another Good German comments…
It's opposite of a German comment. Sky wanted him to stop spreading malicious comms. The sort that racists and bad fathers across England support.
Happens all over the western world today.. either conform or be destroyed.. and most people conform out of fear...
Great to see him , a true gentleman and a great player ❤
Man says things advertisers may not want to be associated with, man no longer gets work from companies reliant on advertising revenue...shocker 😱
When did he say he was surprised? And are you defending the moral integrity of such a system? If not, then you're in agreement with him, you're just too stupid and/or indoctrinated to be able to follow a sentance enough to realise you agree with it -- which is really quite sad.
When did we vote for advertisers to have such power? Why should advertisers have the ability to dictate what we can and cannot say?
@Ceno-2k *sentence
Where did I say that I thought Tiss was shocked..?
Free speech advocate😂😂
@@TheRatlord74 This has gotta be a joke right..? 😂
We don't vote for companies because they're private entities which the owners can run as they wish within the existing legal framework. The idea of voting for who runs companies or how they choose to conduct themselves sounds a lot like some kind of 21st century communism to me 😅
Employers can choose to terminate your employment if you affect the company's potential profits, meaning they're under no obligation to maintain your employment if you say things which are contradiction of your contract with them.
I’m a Leicester fan and I’ve always adored Southampton because of Matt Le Tissier ❤
Well said.
@JerseWhatProblem here is Skys ethics changed and probably broke their own contracts.
Your clearly haven't been listening
Straw man argument….
Maybe, but Le Tissier still has too much too say and he had clearly been warned a few times. If you don't like your job and the conditions/environment that goes with it then move on, quite simple. Most of us put up with far more in our jobs, than he had to in what is a job most of us can only dream of doing.
He’s spot on about everything here!
Everybody is entitled to their opinion...........as long as it's the right opinion 😂😂😂
He's entitled to an opinion. He's not entitled to a platform for that opinion obviously
Matt le tissier ,brilliant, respect to you,👍👍👍
What an intelligent nice person who speaks the truth unlike most dumb footballers. Finally someone that talks honesty about how real supporters feel about women commentators on men’s football games. Obviously woke Sky sports.
Massive respect for principled Le Tiss.
This is how they silence people. I've had many hr departments warm me about posts ive made online. Many people think like Matt but sadly fear losing their job so stay silent so it seems like less people think this way.
Well said Matt Le Tissier
What a decent man of principles with clear concise well argued points of view. A total contrast to the disgusting behaviour of Jamie C & his disgraceful attempt to hit back at Le Tissier for simply commenting on JC's disgusting actions which he needed to own & be contrite about....
