My dad and I fish that spot in the Blackwater river in the winter every year. We mostly drift along the bank from the train bridge to where the bayou enters the river dragging live shrimp. We catch specs, reds and stripers in the same area. I caught a 13 pound striper a couple years ago right near the fallen tree. I have over 30 years of great memories in that spot.
If I ever catch a fish in local waters, it will be a PNJ headline! My fishing trips are an affirmation of Murphy's Law. I do, however. enjoy watching the videos.
Jordan Williams is correct, Marquis Basin holds Bass, Striper, redfish and pike. I usually launch my boat at Marquis and fish the two channels that go out into Blackwater. I have never caught a speck in there, but have caught plenty at the mouth of the upper channel, where you caught the striper.
Nice bass!! And that looks funny you with the stabilizers on your kayak, your wife doesn't have them then she has to come over with pink fish grips??? Man up Ty!! Lol
Cool to see the Black Water River again. I use to fish and swim there when I was stationed in Milton going through pilot training. Now here in Corpus getting ready to go do some white bass fishing in the Nueces River for the annual white bass run.
Berkley Havoc Grass Pig is one of my go to bass baits. Give that one a try! Very nice striper! I've never caught a true striper. Looked fun! Quite lively! Thanks for sharing!
if yall would have kept going into marquise basin right before it opens up is a hole and the stripper blow up like tarpon right there! live bait is the way to go though
You mentioned "Mullet". We used to eat mullet fresh several days a week. Now that I live in Missouri, I sure do miss some tasty Mullet. Great Catches both of you!
Loved this video. We are moving to Pensacola within next year and have decided Milton is where we want to be. Beautiful area, we just left Pensacola last Saturday from a week of house hunting. We were told their slogan is The Canoe Capital of the World. We cant wait to get our old towns in that beautiful black water. Wish you guys were still in Florida.
the american alligator , altho ferocious looking, is pretty skittish... I've swam with , hand caught , bow hunted, fished and ate them all my life in south louisiana. never had one ounce of trouble. in louisiana u see 15 every fishing trip. in back yards , they are all over. now, the crocodile u see in ausi country and the amazon... 22', massive. they eat people , cows everything. different species .

Hey Ty, those striper fillets would have been good in a skillet.
Well at least Tgirl didn't catch the Big fish! 😂 You're as bad as Lawson - no net - no fish grips ! 😂
awesome stripper Ty.. great as always
Hard to beat Striper Tacos Ty!
Where is that boat launch I live about 30 min from Milton?
Micah Kirby carpenters park
That is carpenters creek right off of munson highway in Milton
down town under bridge is one... this one is across river from that.
Man let me know next time I live out there I can show u how to fish east bay over there
fish grip JR or original? i hear mixed reviews for use
original is easier to keep up with. plus its got a 200lb capacity. i only like the jr for pond walking keeping things minimal .
Do you guy have problems with gators in any of the water you fish ?
Jerry Sateriale in Florida they are all around, always be aware when fishing in fl waters.

Forgot to mention that thee Nile crok has also invaded South Florida and those are known to be ferocious.
Yes and they love tourists..
I know this is old video but how much stability do the outriggers give you?
i my opinion its more stable and widder than a pro angler at that point
Back are it !!
She always catch the first one lol
Nice fish.
I thought you said that you wouldn't be caught dead without your fish grip.
forgot them! like it in the cold water.
