Last year in my small town we had a f4 tornado in a part of the country that has never seen one. Have the town was destroyed. When I hear this song it reminds me of what happened afterwards. Everyone in our community and the surrounding communities gave everything they had. Whether it was helping a next door neighbor with food or shelter. Or removing debris from their house. People they did not even know. It took weeks and weeks for the clean up. That is what happens in a small town. Everyone helps each other if they can. A year ago we were so broke I could not even get new winter gear for my kids. I posted about it asking if anyone had used stuff and instead I had ten people get together and they went to Walmart and bought a whole bunch brand new stuff for both of my kids plus my husband and I. That is a small town

Great reaction, Dustin. All agreed. Sorry, this is long, as at 60, i don't mince edit when it needs to be said. A lot of reactors are very confused about the backlash - from urban to rural, all races and religions. Someone had to make it more controversial than it really is. They get more likes and views. (Like CNN going after Ren) People saw the protests and screamed racist without any doubt. They found "facts" online and ran with that. The courthouse where this was filmed has a lynching in it's history - but was chosen because it is a courthouse. I saw videos of black and white people, January 6, and security cameras that don't lie. Burning the flag - I say get out if you hate it here. Why are people afraid of filmed events? Is it because the film is actually factual? Undeniably. Philadelphia saw it all, but many neighbors rallied and protected our ground. We are a big city with small town-like neighborhoods. We made our safe spaces and those who disagreed learned quickly to tread lightly if you dare to come this way. One big issue for us was the small-town kids who flocked into the city because in there own towns they wouldnt be tolerated. All Jason did was speak the truth, while many others are trying to hide history by removing physical remnants of our past. If we can't see it, how are we going to discuss it and learn from it? - jp

I was born and raised in a big city in Texas, San Antonio, but I was raised by an ARMY vet that was raised in a small town in North Carolina. In my opinion it all has to do with how you’re brought up. And from the small towns I’ve been to here in TX, it just seems like the sense of community makes people more accountable for their own actions which means they’re brought up in hand. Thus, the “see how far you make it” 😂 Accountability, that’s all I hear when I listen to this song. My takeaway from the song is, if you act a fool in a small town be ready to take accountability for your actions.

This is what he said on twitter:
In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous. There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far.
As so many pointed out, I was present at Route 91-where so many lost their lives- and our community recently suffered another heartbreaking tragedy. NO ONE, including me, wants to continue to see senseless headlines or families ripped apart.
Try That In A Small Town, for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences. My political views have never been something I’ve hidden from, and I know that a lot of us in this Country don’t agree on how we get back to a sense of normalcy where we go at least a day without a headline that keeps us up at night. But the desire for it to- that’s what this song is about.

Most of the backlash comes from the mention of Grandads gun verse. And the location it was filmed in. Columbis Tn. 100 years ago a man named choate was lynched there. The fact that the song has been out since May, tells me that the liberals are digging for anything that can cause controversy but they are okay with rap the talks about killing and it's considered culture.

so basically the nutty far-left logic is that nothing can be filmed in a place that once had something awful happen. This is a patriotic song about defending others and your community. That doesn't mean being a vigilante or looking to intimate people over a disagreement. Its a really big stretch to knock this song in the manner that some are. And guess what it's basically a number-one song now so good job woke snowflakes, you made this song surpass 7 million views on TH-cam alone. It's literally become the definition of backfire. :)

Old houses have historic meaning, good and bad…..you couldn‘t travel through France without finding houses where Hugenots were slaughtered, or through Germany, where Jewish families were ripped out of their homes and transported to concentration camps.
Those events colour our lives, and that‘s what memorial ‚stepping stones‘ and such are about.
A 500 year old house has seen more than those dark times between 1930 and 1945

I personally have deep respect for all branches of the military, cops, and every person who fights for and cares about my freedom. I"m 53 and while sandwiched by a lot of big cities, NYC, Boston, Hartford, Springfield, I grew up in a small town in southeastern Connecticut. Around 2500 people during my younger years. Played sports in town, Joined the volunteer fire department when I was 12. Worked for the Public Works Department and then finally in the 90's my 20's decided to travel and see this country. Spent most of the 90's between CT and Montana. I was about 40 miles from ground zero on 911 stuck working on an Island. That changed me and from that point forward made it a point to start relearning a lot of history and learning more about modern politics, culture, and the legacy media. It's been an incredible experience and very surreal. That said I can only go off what I've seen and experienced but the Internet, information/communication age has seriously changed the power dynamic between the people and the powers that have been. For decades the establishment powers for the most part could easily control perception and the daily narrative. The internet and modern tech changed that. They tried to keep the scales tipped in their favor by changing the laws in the mid 90's allowing large corps to buy up and consolidate newspaper, radio, cable, etc.. to the point that by the early 2000's the majority of all media was owned by like 5 massive corporations. Well that wasn't enough and we have continued to level the playing field. Then something happened that really pushed the establishment powers over the edge and whether that was planned or natural it seriously changed the daily dynamic between the Ruling class and the people. That was the election of Trump and the pandemic. Just like 911 was used to obtain wealth and power, so was the aforementioned events. Now it's not hidden at all the agenda to try and create division and chaos pitting political parties, races, the sexes, age demographics against each other in hopes to not only regain control under a new dynamic but actually and finally expand government to the global level. Hence The Trump situation was to stir things up nationally and the pandemic globally. So it's not a surprise that those that are in power presently in the West are lockstep with those at the UN, WEF, Davos who are seriously pushing to end sovereign nations and have a digitalized authoritarian world government that would mirror the same top down system presently in China where if one steps out of line your entire life can be shut down digitally. We have already witnessed this happening in the US, Canada, and the UK.. Trudeau has literally praised Xi and admires their system. So at the end of the day, once again, it comes down to the battle between freedom and tyranny. Not surprising that culturally and politically things are the most upside down and insane in the US because it surely is going to be the toughest nut to crack to get people to accept totalitarian rule. The song above is all about what is the largest defense against globalism. The family, community, brotherhood, and love of country.

The courthouse that is shown in the background is in Tennessee. It has been used in movies including Miley Cyrus and TV shows I believe. The history of that courthouse is that a public hanging was done in 1927 from what I have heard. That is in the past and not going on now though. That is what the news media and other people on the Left are against this music video because Jason Aldean is trying to say that doing things the right way and not needing to riot or get violent. That is what I take from the song. I love the song and enjoy hearing it.

I love the song and the message in it. 11B from '87 to '95, and currently work as a police dispatcher. The U.S. Constitution applies to ALL Americans, regardless of race, color, creed, religion etc. I'm 100% American, conservative, law abiding, respectful, considerate, gun owning and I judge people by their character, not their skin color. Victimizing other people is unacceptable and I will put a stop to it if I see it. And yeah, if I see a black person being harassed because of their skin color, I'm stepping up for him. Right is right and wrong is wrong. I was raised right, and I carry my family name that my Dad gave me. I'm responsible for bringing honor and dignity to my family name. I owe that to my Dad. Thank you, Dad for teaching me the things you did. You raised a good man, and I have a great Dad!
