@@outdoors_life7544 I was only out for a 7 day section hike. That is how I will be tackling the AT for now until I can take 6 months off for a thru hike attempt.
How do you like the CS40? I have one myself as well as the Skyline 30(training pack, till closer to my JMT25 attempt). First initial thoughts on CS40 are good, feels good, carries good, and packs well with my loadout.
I went from a Gossamer Gear Mariposa to the OV CS40. It has forced me to carry a bit less. I like how the CS40 fits on my shoulders and my waist. Even though the belt slides a bit under my belly but, I am working on that. :-). It is a great light pack for the money. I would say it gives Hyperlight and z-packs a run for their money but I've never owned one of those. There are two things I don't like about it but I can deal with them. One is that it looks like a burrito when is fully loaded. Is a bit narrow imo. I think they Hyperlight also looks like a tube when is loaded though. The side packets sag a bit below the main compartment. So when you fill your water bottles it sags a bit more and it looks a bit weird when you see it from the back. If I bent down to get under a blow down, sometimes my bottles fall out. I lost one in a creek when I didn't;t bother to take my pack off to scoop water. I got it back but you get the picture.
@sandpine99 I totally understand and appreciate your feedback on the pack. Though I haven't used it on trail as of yet, I did load out the pack to see how it feels. The only wish I had is its non capabilities to carry a shoulder harness of sorts like you have. I truly wish they put the harness system like their Skyline on the CS40. I might have a workaround for that by just adding tubing to water bottles so I can just walk and drink as I please without reaching back for bottles. Secondly, i wish the roll down clasps connected on the side of the pack as an option. Also, I agree on bringing less. I already was working on that anyway. In that, I may bring one size small bear canister the BV475 instead of BV500. I'm trying to actually get base weight as close to 15lbs or under, then see what weight is with consumables.
That reminds me of another issue I deal with on the CS40. I am not very flexible with arms but I can reach both bottles in the pack. The issue is putting it back. I always have to grab the bottle from the bottom and use two fingers to open the pocket then slide the bottle in. I you look at my pack the edge of the bottle holders are filty because of this. No biggie but adding tubes will be better. You can easily strap a bottle holder to the shoulder harness though. many do it and even do the tube thing. To me is more oz to carry, :-)
@@Turtle-y9p I fixed that in the day 5’s video. I didn’t know the new iMovie on iOS 18 was not quieting down the music enough during vid clips. Normally it does a decent job at lowering it and increasing it during pics. So I’ll do it manually from now on.
I like the video. Not to be mean, but you should probably remove the background music from your videos. I decided not to subscribe. Also maybe talk more about why you are out there and how much you are planning on doing. Maybe you did talk about it but I couldn’t watch the whole video because of the music.😮
@@karenm1034 thanks for your comment. I fixed that issue starting with day 5. Take a look at it. It should be better. I assumed iMovie on IOs 18 was the same as before. It added the soundtrack at 100% volunme by default. I have to manually turn it down now.
Love the video, thanks for sharing
Beautiful still photos . Subscribed

Sure is. I just wish I had done a few more long hikes before going to do a 7 day hike on the AT. It may have hurt a bit less. lol ...
Is that a New England accent? I was born and raised amid those states.
Never been north of NY state. I am from the South West.

Are you going to hike the entire AT?
One day 🙂 For now sections hikes as times allows, I did seven days on this one, I'll post the other vids soon,
Like the photography. Music is distracting
