@@carinaguida558 2003 was when it started just getting good in terms of quality, that’s right after they introduced their retro bumpers and their live action shows actually became funny and entertaining. They were getting their highest ratings and critical acclaim 💀 before hand, the channel’s content was boring and bone dry. There were good animated shows like Timon + Pumbaa & Tarzan but they weren’t even Disney channel originals. All they really had going for them at the time were their DCOMS.

The Circle of Life. For me, it was heart wrenching because as a teen, me and my best friend were obsessed with you, Hilary, and all things Disney. So when she died, in early 2004, it was hard to watch our favorite shows, alone. I purposely avoided the Circle of Life for that reason. I just rewatched it and it is beautiful.

I grew up watching all of them and this music video felt like that moment when you open your Christmas gift yo just smile. That song and video meant so much to me that I found friends who loves that song as much as I do. When i was sad i would listen to this and it always makes me happy. And yes you did a Mariah Carey moment at the end of the song and it always makes wanna yell like that when that part comes hahaha! Always fun to hear these things and I was just watching the Halloween episode of Even Stevens last night...still hilarious.

Your message at the end really resonated with me! I'm an engineer in my day job, but I am also a musician in an orchestra with over 170 members in Orlando, FL! We just had our Symphonic Disney concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Disney World, and honestly out of all my performances I've ever done playing French Horn, that was the one where I truly was 100% present and gave it my all on the stage, and I will remember that forever. To be part of any group, you really have to check your ego at the door, and sometimes it's difficult for musicians since we all want to be the best and play the best parts, but when you listen to the ensemble as a whole, you really don't care who plays what part since the group together sounds amazing and that's all the audience cares about.
I was a kid when the Circle of Stars came out and I absolutely loved it and am still a huge fan of yours!

Kyla Pratt was very prominent in my childhood. I loved her show One on One. LOL Orlando came in his velour suit. He looked very smooth. I thought about your wardrobe back then. I felt like they were trying to portray you straight laced, classic. Like Ren Stevens and, in turn, I figured that’s how you were in real life. I really thought everyone came in their own clothes. Thanks for sharing those details. In regards to you not focusing too much on your brand during the shooting, you still stood out. Your vocals and Raven’s vocals were the backbone. It’s very evident anytime I listen.
Edit: I just rewatched the video. Christy, ma’am, your energy was like you came in real casual and BOOM stunted on them. I get goosebumps from your runs every time. When I was watching it I was taking vocal lessons at that time, and you and Annalise were the only ones that I heard that had vocal training and I wanted to do runs like you did in that video. It seems like everyone else was singing the way that Disney wanted them to sing, but you guys were the ones that had your own voice. Loved this video! I’m an early 90s baby and I remember that music video really being like WOW. I totally thought all y’all were bffs that hung out daily.
Also, that last segment about being present and in the moment was perfect. I’ve got a 2 and 5 year old and sometimes I get so caught up trying to get quality pictures or videos, that I’m not truly present and the pics and vids are meaningless anyway. Next time I catch myself doing it, I’ll remind myself that Christy Carlson Romano told me to be more present and live in the moment😉

Watched this , then watched the music video , *cried in almost 30 millennial*, and came back here to comment this. I never knew how much those Disney shows shaped my life as a child . I appreciate this channel so Much ! It’s very comforting and relaxing and idk… healing in a way.

Always thought the Disney Circle of Stars and anytime everyone got to hang out with each other while it was filmed was cool. Reminded me very much of TheWB network in the 90s use to do. Which I absolutely loved. Especially being a fan of the shows and it's stars. So I know this going to be fun & interesting to hear about. You always give us good behind the scenes stories.

Omg YES!!!!!! I remember The WB had all Buffy, Charmed, Dawsons creek, Roswell, Felicity stars...etc... together. It was so trippy and cool to see a mashup of all of them! They have it on TH-cam and I watch it from time to time for pure nostalgia!

There’s so much pressure for young people to have & know their identity. It makes so much sense that you were feeling unsure as a teenager, but now as you’ve gotten older it seems that you’ve found yourself more and your “brand”, and it’s awesome, authentic, and full of joy! I really appreciate you sharing with us, I’m 25 and grew up watching your shows💛

Christy i feel this so hard and I feel for YOU! Because you shouldn't have had to be thinking about what totally encapsulated you at that age. No one at that age truly actually knows what their brand is. I can't even tell you how many phases I went through between middle-high school. I can't imagine having picked just one of those to base my whole persona on! I really admire that at that you felt like you didn't know what your brand fully was because to me that's like you knowing you had so much more to learn about yourself. As an actor, you are basically a human product. But in hearing this it seems like the genuine you was stronger than the fabricated product version, and you weren't comfortable putting yourself into one box. That's exactly what makes you such a joy to listen to in these videos. You feel like a whole person with a whole life and it makes it so nice to see someone in the industry I want to be a part of choosing herself-- an ever-evolving, ever-growing self. I think it's amazing that people can commit to their brand at such a young age, because I LOVED all the disney actresses because of their brands. But knowing how hard the industry will milk that brand out of you, I can only imagine how difficult it gets to stick to one thing while you feel like you're evolving into someone new. In the end, I don't really know which way is the better way, but I know that listening to you now makes me feel less regret for not pressuring myself to commit to being someone I had no idea if I fully was.

This oughta be fun, I am excited about what u have to share with us. U know AJ was asked about this in his interview from last year on the Even Stevens Ranked podcast. He said he was out of his element, and that he was amazed that they kept ONE line that he sang. He also said his energy was so low compared to everyone else's, and that the bright sunny, "always on" persona that most Disney kids apparently have, he just couldn't portray that

I think it's amazing that you were true to yourself and just there to have a good time. I just watched The Circle Of Stars video after watching this and it shows. You look great by the way. Nobody like us would be able to tell you felt like you were struggling with your look or brand. You got a lot of airtime on that music video, and you can tell that Disney knew you were an amazing singer. In the comments of the TH-cam video of it I just watched, I saw a comment that said the That's so Raven cast AND CHRISTY dominated the whole track. Haha.
As far as like the phone thing, I totally agree that you should live in the moment and not use those all the time. They're not as common now, but I definitely think getting a camcorder like people did in the '80s is a great idea. Something that doesn't distract you with news or the ability to contact other people who aren't there... all it does is help you record what's happening and puts you in the moment too.

I see what you’re saying about brand, you did look and feel very polished and professional. Vocally you have it going on too, I think it is just that last little part about finding that 🎇POP🎇 factor within to stand out, which is hard to do next to Orlando Brown’s velour tracksuit.
With that being said, I and many others really like your brand today in this now moment and you represented your(past)self well in the video, which is still a bop.

I remember the first time I watched this video… mind blown.
My sister had told me there was a new recording and video of this song with all the Disney channel stars and she described it to me. And I imagined in my mind how it could look like. Then started watching Disney 24/7 after this so I could catch the clip. Finally after about 7-10 days.. Oh D-Clips, I saw the sun rising scene and screamed. And yelled at my sister (who was taking a shower) to come out, that the video was about to play. It became my favorite. We even bought the special dvd edition of the lion king because this video was included in the extra bonus dvd (this was all before TH-cam and the internet for me… so there was no way to watch this video for us back then)
Also i do remember talking to my sister about that high high note you do in the video. We knew all along you were the most talented when it comes to singing :)
