Aaaahhh. Taking to the open road in a nice car with the music on. It's a hobby with me. I haven't taken this route since the late 70's. And thanks for showing the Bixby bridge.
This is one of the coolest videos I have ever seen. I have never been to Cali, but i might be going for spring break this year. I want to take a trip on highway one really bad now.
3 years ago my buddy and I rode our Harleys from Sacramento to Miami and this rode was the highlight of our trip. Thanks for posting and sharing this video. Going to do it again.
all you need is cash! My girl and I have been saving for the trip, and booked our flights for next summer, it's defenately doable, we'll be living the Californian dream for 3 weeks in July 2013, including a roadtrip with several stops along the road on Highway 1 from San Francisco to San Diego!
Conozco este estado. Mis abuelos son de ahí. Me encantan sus paisajes, sus ciudades, su historia, su arquitectura, su cultura, las tradiciones hispanas... Muy buen vídeo ;)
I miss my home state of Cali. I enjoyed this road trip from the comfort of my computer chair...but would enjoy being there on the coast. I am from Fontana, CA...if u R ever there, I hope you tape it for youtube...P. B. Lebanon, TN
fabulous video:D amazing nature sceneries on both side. we did it in the opposite direction (La 2 Ciso) back in late 90's and this vid brings me back some nice memories. thank you for making & sharing;)
if you do the trip, you should stop in Carmel for at least 1 full day, Big Sur 1 full day and perhaps Santa Barbara area one full day. What is your rush? stop and enjoy along the way!
I think it's important to take your time to do this trip. Did you choose the costal drive? Well, I suggest you to take it easy (if you can) I did it in 3 days: -from SF to Monterey (by Sausalito and Berkeley,179 miles), -from Monterey to Morro Bay (181 miles) -from Morro Bay to Santa Monica 188 miles it was the better road trip I ever had. PS don't forget, you MUST rent a red convertible to really enjoy the trip. Congratulation to the author of the video, it's very beautiful thank you, man
epic video! did this trip a few years ago but took our time... about 5 days to go from SF to LA. Next time I would like to do it even slower! cant imagine doing it all in one day and driving the last part in the dark. I have watched so many people's videos of this drive but I think yours might be the best... the late day sun gave you some beautiful light!
Can you give some info on what camera you used, settings, mounts? I assuming you filmed the whole thing and just took the highlights? How much data did you use to film? Looking at doing the same thing you did since yours turned out so good!!!
I did it in one continuous drive with a few picture breaks. I only budgeted a day for the drive and this was in December with less day light hours. For me it was the right pace. There are a few places that would have been interesting to check out along the way so even taking a day and a half would have been good for me.
This is what I planned to do next year 2015. Much GB you think this going to take with a GoPro? Did you have your GoPro plugged (charging) the whole time? Totally envy you bro!
the koolest and most spirit filled special drive, l ever had, was on this road, with ''Zoozie'' the C4 84 Crossfire Corvette , from Los Angeles to BC Canada, .. .. .. One day l'll be back on this track ,, on my way to Hollywood .. Look forward to go here agin with my BEST friend, my £ove Forever, and Wife Elisabeth
Thanks for the vid but which areas got the BIKINIS during the US1? Huntington Beach I love the BIKINIS. Might take a drive from San Diego all the way up Oregon.
I did it in one day with many breaks where I saw amazing scenery. I would suggest trying to leave right at sunrise so that the end part of the trip isn't dark. I left a bit later in the day.
Recently drove a portion of the PCH going north from LA to Santa Barbara. Sadly the only memorable part was the 10 miles between Point Dume and Point Mugu. Any other potential views were hindered by giant RVs crowding the beaches and the many garage doors of crappy cliff-side homes in Malibu. So there's no doubt in my mind that the drive is better going south from San Francisco. Looking forward to the day I can accomplish that without any landslide-related road closures.
Hi Dan. Me and my partner want to drive this exact route in 1 day next year. I would love to talk to you to find out more information if that's OK? PS- loved the video!
To do it the "correct" way break down the trip into 2 segments. SFO- Pismo Beach/SanSimeon area. Stay overnight at the Best Western Shore Cliff Lodge (Phenomenal views) great hotel. Continue on the PCH after breakfast. I figure it took me 8-10 hours for the first leg and another 6 hours the next morning. Remember there are sooooo many stops along the way... Monterey, Carmel, Pebble Beach 17 mile drive. Make sure before you leave SFO you visit MUIR OVERLOOK just north of SFO. You'll thank me for the rest of your life. The views are breathtaking!!!!
I used a Go Pro Hero 2 camera. Mounted it to the inside of the car. I wish I mounted it to the outside to get a better picture. I turned the camera on when I saw a portion of the drive worth filming. I only had a 32GB card with me.
That's right muthafuckers this CaLi life StyLe in muthafuckin December even Jan, Feb, march its all the same u can't beat the CaLi Life StyLe!!! We love u haters from diffrent states lol!!!

Hey Dan, looks like you shot this with a GoPro. Would you use a GoPro again or would you choose a different camera?
I love the GoPro. If I did this again, I would try to mount it outside of the car and use the new GoPro's with WiFi.
I love the band Boston.
this road is very twisty with great views and scenery - why would you want to speed?
smoke you favorite weed, put on your favorite song, watch this, feel amazing

Realistically, how long does this trip take? Thinking about doing this in January.
I did it in one day with many breaks where I saw amazing scenery. I would suggest trying to leave right at sunrise so that the end part of the trip isn't dark. I left a bit later in the day.
So glorious!
What a great video !! What camera did you use ? I like that it's panoramic view . Also video quality is very stable.
Great soundtrack!
it's like being inside joy
i well be there in april to drive the PCH...from Scotland . Peace .
how long did the trip take you? we want to do this in reverse?
Won't that take 10 times longer, to do it in reverse? Bit of a pain in the neck too, with all that staring out of the rear window. ;-)
By reverse, he means northbound instead of southbound.
One of my dreams! But pretty hard to do, need visa + a lot of plane journey across the Ocean... Maybe I'll find something similar in Europe.
About 8-9 hours total.

How far is LA from SF if we take CA1 ?

Anybody knows what car is crossing @ 6:09
Very hard to see it clearly in the video but I'd guess either a Jeep Cherokee or possibly a Ford or Nissan.
