    I don't understand why you can not see that your mic has a limited recording range. This appears to be a Frequency/hz and the high pitch and low bass notes pitch differences are nearly outside of the mics range. All mics have a range. sure 88 is the vocal standard. excellent. we love the sweet tones from this mic.

    I recorded with a good Audio Technica microphone connected via XLR to a Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6, the native ASIO driver and a very high sample rate. There's a position where the recording is better, and it's where usually audio technicians place the mics.
    The only thing I don't like it's the outcome. And tuning precisely a piano it's a nightmare.

    can you tell me, where i can find a downloadlink for the entropy-piano-tuner?

    I used Entropy with my laptop (no external mic) and I made the best ever tuning on my Steinway M, much better than tune lab to me.

      wow that's excellent to know. Tunelab only samples 6 notes, while Entropy samples them all. So that might result in a superior curve. Glad to hear, thanks

    this is cutting-edge piano tuning research-well thought out but not practical for everyday tunings...Once the bugs are out of this program, it will be the best tuning app...

    Hi, cool Video. Do you know the original tutorial on YT? Search for Entropy Piano tuner..
    At Keys with 2 or 3 strings, it's recommended to damp the other(s) and record only one string from this note.
    I use it on my Smartphone/Tablet (App), these have quite good microphones. (Also yours is quite far...was far 😊👍)
    Did you align the Peak with the Markerline the tuning field (upper right corner), while damping the other strings from the key/note you want to tune with the hammer?
    The more a piano is tuned, it needs tuning more seldom.

      thanks for the comment. Yes, I record one string and damp the others. Bavaria, so cool, I hope I can visit there some day.

    My piano has 85 keys instead of 88. When I finish recording it could not calculate because not all keys were recorded.. Can I solve this??

    • @pianoautopsy780
      @pianoautopsy780  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know. I looked in the manual and didn't see anything about that. It is definitely a weakness if it won't let you get around that, they need an override for something like that. Some pianos have broken keys too.
      One thing you might try... Since the program will accept bad recording of a key, or too short samples for a key, you should be able to just record something for the missing keys. So, manually select the missing keys while in recording mode, then hit the highest note you have, and see if it will take that sound (even though it is not the right pitch). I don't think that would mess up the overall calculation of a stretch, especially since those missing keys are at the very top of the keyboard

    im not sure what the tuning curve does? does it just tell you the closest pitch to tune your piano to or something? please explain like I am 5. thanks

    • @pianoautopsy780

      the program measures the inharmonicity of each note, then plots a curve so that it sounds most in tune. Every piano is slightly different depending on the length of strings and many other factors. For example, concert A is tuned at 440, and the octave lower is 220 and the octave higher is 880 ideally, but in practice on a specific piano you may need to tune the higher notes sharper, and the bass notes flat. So the lower octave might need to be tuned at 218 on one piano, or 219 on another, to sound like it is in tune, and the higher octave tuned at 882 or 884 etc depending on the individual piano's unique needs. Usually a concert 9 foot grand needs less of these adjustments, while a small home upright spinet with very short strings needs more extreme sharper highs and lower flat bass adjustments to sound in tune.

      @@pianoautopsy780 So will the Entropy program try and get the user to tune the piano to itself rather than concert pitch to allow for these differences? My issue is the top 2/3 are in tune but the bottom 1/3 is not. Will this program still be good for it?

    • @pianoautopsy780
      @pianoautopsy780  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@lukeloop it will tune the A to 440 and make minor adjustments up and down the scale so that the piano will sound in tune. As long as you get good long samples for each note to begin with it should give you a good curve and do the bottom notes as well. Another program that most tuners use is Tunelab Pro. With that you only have to get samples from 6 notes, the C notes. You can download and use it for free (even though it gives a popup message, it still lets you tune for free).
