    ⬤⬤⬤The Three Pillars of our Community⬤⬤⬤
    ►►Yeshua◄◄
    We are a community formed by the teachings, life, death, and resurrection of a rabbi from Nazareth named Yeshua (Jesus). It is through His spirit by which we find our common bond. Through the paradox of His death on the cross, we find the way to God’s love, the truth of all He is, and the life that only He can provide - one that is eternal. The gospel of Yeshua is the foundation for our community locally and beyond.
    ►►Family◄◄
    If there is one thing we celebrate at Founded in Truth, it is family. Whether your household is small or large, local or far away, you are invited to take your place here with us. We thrive together to build up an atmosphere that shows forth God’s love in a very real way not just to be a fellowship but also to teach the children in the community what being an image bearer is all about.
    ►►Fellowship◄◄
    We value each other. In the Beginning, God said it was not good for man to be alone. We were meant for fellowship, and we believe when we come together, we celebrate God’s goodness, promises, and grace. We know God has called our lives to intersect, so what better way to fulfill the command of scripture to love one another?

    If the book of Enoch isn't canon, why did early church fathers such as Clement of Alexandria, Irenaeus, and Tertullian regard it as scripture? They were closer to the historical events than we are, and some early church fathers knew the original Apostles, including Paul. Why would Jude risk using a source that was not scripturally legitimate to instruct believers? Should we really rely on the Roman Catholic church to determine what should be canon, considering its very questionable history?

    • @DavidWilberBlog
      @DavidWilberBlog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +126

      Tertullian is the only one who explicitly references Enoch as "Scripture." But I am much more interested in what Christ and the apostles think, and based on the evidence in the NT, they did not consider Enoch to be Scripture. As for Jude's reference to Enoch, I address this in the video, but why should we assume that he regarded it as "scripturally legitimate"? Biblical authors quoted tons of stuff that nobody would consider scripturally legitimate. Paul quoted pagan poets. The psalmists and prophets use material from Egyptian and Mesopotamian literature. They used the material that was familiar to their audience to make a point in the same way that pastors and teachers today might quote popular movies or TV shows. Some movies and TV shows might teach good lessons that align with biblical values, but that doesn't mean we should add Lord of the Rings to the canon. Also, the Roman Catholic church did not come up with the canon-that is simply false.

      @@mimi45945 True. Which is why, to me, it is extremely important we search, and pray for ourselves, to know what is God's Word, and what is not. Not just listening to what someone else has to say about it.
      Because what if a book HAD been removed from the Bible that was God inspired? Then we would all be reading the Scriptures with some of it removed. We also have to be extremely careful not to accept something as scripture, so as not to be adding to God's Word.
      But either way, I believe the passage you are referring to is in the final chapter of Revelation, referring to adding or removing anything from "this book of prophecy". Not to say there is no consequence for adding or removing from God's Word in general, but the passage reads "And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book."

      @formless777 It is sad to read how angry you are inside. That is not a put down. It is one person's observation. You are comparing a mustard seed from 2,000 years ago to what today we call a mustard seed. Seeds have been genetically engineered since the 1940's. The flower poppy seed is not what id spoken of in the Holy Bible. One is a flower the other a tree. There are no contradictions in the Bible. I once thought so too, so I bought a better Bible and a Strong's Concordance. Remember the Bible was translated into old English, then to English. Today we have a much better understanding of the languages the Bible was written in. Archeologists are still finding copies of original books and letters we call books today. The translations were accurate. Our knowledge of the ancient languages was not for as long time. If you could read it being filled with the Holy Spirit you would be able to understand what you did not initially understand.

    Are you being honest? This book has always been in the Ethiopian bible. Always. And it resonates today with me and with many other Christians today

    • @DavidWilberBlog
      @DavidWilberBlog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hey Gerri. It's true that the Ethiopian Church includes 1 Enoch in their canon, making it the only Christian community that holds 1 Enoch in such a high regard. However, what a lot of people don’t know is that the Ethiopian Church has a much more liberal and fluid concept of “canon” than the rest of Christianity. For instance, while 1 Enoch is included in some canons of the Ethiopian Church, it is excluded in others. In 1983, the Ethiopian Orthodox Holy Synod produced a paper called “A Short History, Faith, and Order of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church” where they provide a list of the “Holy Books of the Old Testament.” 1 Enoch is not included in this list. Not only is the Ethiopian canon fluid, but also apparently not all books included in their canon hold the same level of authority. This could perhaps be compared to how the Apocrypha is viewed within Eastern Orthodoxy-while it is part of the canon, it is generally considered to be of somewhat lower authority than the rest of the Bible. Having said all that, the Ethiopian canon appears to be an unreliable standard of what ought to be considered "Scripture." I'd rather go with Messiah's definition of Scripture, which excluded 1 Enoch. Hope that helps!

    Enoch 71: 11 ; and I fell on my face and my whole body melted and my spirit was transformed and I cried with a loud voice in the spirit of power and I blessed and glorify and exalted. Now I'm going to read Psalms chapter 22: 14; 15; And I am poured out like water and all my bones are out of joint my heart is like Wax it is melted in the midst of my bowels my strength is dried up like potsherd and my tongue clings to my jaws and thou has brought me into the dust of death. It appears that Enoch is prophesied just like the author in the book of Psalms, and in the book of Jude where he's quoting Enoch Enoch walked with God he not is a person that actually walk with God in Scripture says that in the book of Acts where it talk about the poets they didn't prophesy he just told them your own poets have said that we are offsprings the poet was not prophesied he was just writing about an unknown God and that was Paul's opportunity to let them know about this God the creator of the heaven and the Earth the same one that Enoch was talking about. I disagree with you 100%.

    Enoch ch 48 1. In that place I beheld a fountain of righteousness, which never failed, encircled by many springs of wisdom. Of these all the thirsty drank, and were filled with wisdom, having their habitation with the righteous, the elect, and the holy.
    2. In that hour was this Son of man invoked before the Lord of spirits, and his name in the presence of the Ancient of days.
    3. Before the sun and the signs were created, before the stars of heaven were formed, his name was invoked in the presence of the Lord of spirits. A support shall he be for the righteous and the holy to lean upon, without falling; and he shall be the light of nations.
    4. He shall be the hope of those whose hearts are troubled. All, who dwell on earth, shall fall down and worship before him; shall bless and glorify him, and sing praises to the name of the Lord of spirits.
    5. Therefore the Elect and the Concealed One existed in his presence, before the world was created, and for ever.
    6. In his presence he existed, and has revealed to the saints and to the righteous the wisdom of the Lord of spirits; for he has preserved the lot of the righteous, because they have hated and rejected this world of iniquity, and have detested all its works and ways, in the name of the Lord of spirits.
    7. For in his name shall they be preserved; and his will shall be their life. In those days shall the kings of the earth and the mighty men, who have gained the world by their achievements, 1 become humble in countenance.
    8. For in the day of their anxiety and trouble their souls shall not be saved; and they shall be in subjection to those whom I have chosen.
    9. I will cast them like hay into the fire, and like lead into the water. Thus shall they burn in the presence of the righteous, and sink in the presence of the holy; nor shall a tenth part of them be found.
    10. But in the day of their trouble, the world shall obtain tranquillity.
    11. In his presence shall they fall, and not be raised up again; nor shall there be any one to take them out of his hands, and to lift them up: for they have denied the Lord of spirits, and his Messiah. The name of the Lord of spirits shall be blessed.
    SO WHERE DID ENOCH CALL HIMSELF THE MESSIAH?

      Copperdog I think you need to reread. In verse one it speaks how Enoch was taken to the heavens before the Lord of spirits. From first 2 to11 it describes everything that he saw. Verse 12 the angel is introducing the Lord of spirits. He confirmed this in the last scripture.

      Copperdog 1. And it came to pass after this that my spirit was translated And it ascended into the heavens: And I saw the holy sons of God. They were stepping on flames of fire: Their garments were white [and their raiment], And their faces shone like snow.
      2. And I saw two streams of fire, And the light of that fire shone like hyacinth, And I fell on my face before the Lord of Spirits.
      3. And the angel Michael [one of the archangels] seized me by my right hand, And lifted me up and led me forth into all the secrets, And he showed me all the secrets of righteousness.
      4. And he showed me all the secrets of the ends of the heaven, And all the chambers of all the stars, and all the luminaries, Whence they proceed before the face of the holy ones.
      5. And he translated my spirit into the heaven of heavens, And I saw there as it were a structure built of crystals, And between those crystals tongues of living fire.
      (Revelation 21:10-11), (Acts 2:3)
      6. And my spirit saw the girdle which girt that house of fire, And on its four sides were streams full of living fire, And they girt that house.
      7. And round about were Seraphin, Cherubic, and Ophannin: And these are they who sleep not And guard the throne of His glory.
      (2 Kings 19:15), (Psalm 80:1), (Psalm 99:1), (Isaiah 37:16)
      8. And I saw angels who could not be counted, A thousand thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand, Encircling that house. And Michael, and Raphael, and Gabriel, and Phanuel, And the holy angels who are above the heavens, Go in and out of that house.
      (Revelation 5:11)
      9. And they came forth from that house, And Michael and Gabriel, Raphael and Phanuel, And many holy angels without number.
      10. And with them the Head of Days, His head white and pure as wool, And His raiment indescribable.
      (Isaiah 6:1-5), (Daniel 7:9, 13)
      11. And I fell on my face, And my whole body became relaxed, And my spirit was transfigured; And I cried with a loud voice, . . . with the spirit of power, And blessed and glorified and extolled.
      12. And these blessings which went forth out of my mouth were well pleasing before that Head of Days.
      13. And that Head of Days came with Michael and Gabriel, Raphael and Phanuel, thousands and ten thousands of angels without number.
      14. And he (i.e. the angel) came to me and greeted me with His voice, and said unto me ‘ This is the Son of Man who is born unto righteousness, And righteousness abides over him, And the righteousness of the Head of Days forsakes him not.’
      (Daniel 7:13), (Jeremiah 33:15), (The Book of Enoch 62:1-2)
      15. And he said unto me: ‘ He proclaims unto thee peace in the name of the world to come; For from hence has proceeded peace since the creation of the world, And so shall it be unto thee for ever and for ever and ever.
      16. And all shall walk in his ways since righteousness never forsaketh him: With him will be their dwelling-places, and with him their heritage, And they shall not be separated from him for ever and ever and ever.
      (Psalm 85:11-13)
      17. And so there shall be length of days with that Son of Man, And the righteous shall have peace and an upright way In the name of the Lord of Spirits for ever and ever.’

    Ok but Jude said that Enoch prophesied what he quoted. So this tells me Jude actually believed that Book of Enoch was actually written by Enoch himself. If Enoch quoted the book that he should know to be extra biblical, why did he say Enoch “prophesied”? I know book of Enoch we have today was forged and the original one was just gone

      Can you confirm the "book of Enoch" Jude used, is the same you are reading today? It's a 2000 year-old difference. 2ndly, Paul quotes secular authors in some of his writing, and certainly their writings were not and are not considered God inspired.

      If name of Enoch is written in the Bible, Enoch's literature was there and is true.
      But it doesn't mean that Enoch 1,2,3 what we see now is real. May be a big thing to think is that if Enoch's writings were truly preserved, they would have been in Bible.
      But Enoch's writings are not present in Bible so correct writings are not present.
      But in Bible if Enoch's name is written then he might have written which are lost or to be found.

      “Prophesied” doesn’t necessarily mean “divinely inspired”. Also just because Jude thought a particular sentence the book of enoch to be particularly pithy, doesn’t mean the thing isn’t fictional.

    Very informative video; however, I was curious about the Paul the part. Paul resided in Greece when he took his trips there to preach. I do not see a conflict if you are physically living somewhere and are inspired or touched by the culture. Next Enoch, the book of Enoch to me is a further explanation on his personal experience with God. We do not question the authenticity of John in the book of revelations and his experience in heaven. The book of Enoch goes into greater and deeper detail. I did not process Enoch stating his was the son of the man. I processed that as a reward he was given a high ranking position. On the other side of God, Jesus, the holy spirit, along with Abraham, Lazarus, Moses, Noah and others. The book of Enoch, Jasper or the Apocrypha are not easy reads. There are certain bible editions that reference to Jasper, the Apocrypha and the book of Enoch. I believe all believers and researchers should have these books along with everyone in the bible, another book. That's a book that gives details about everyone good or bad in the bible. God Bless

      I agree. Only 1 translation reads that way. Most translations of 1 Enoch 71:14 read that he was SHOWN the messiah.
      Even the new translation is often interpreted to be Enoch brought before the presence of God and told that the messiah is within him and within all. Things like The Trinity are complicated concepts. Many people are afraid of complicated things.

      Yes, and most of Ethiopia accepts Yeshua as the Messiah. Therefore Wilber must explain why in Ethiopia, where many of the clergy still read and speak in Ge'ez, there has not been any controversy about the fact that Enoch is called "son of man [who was] born for righteousness". Maybe they understand that "son of man" just simply means "human being". Psalm 8:4 says "What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?" Is the Psalmist wondering why the Messiah is visited by YHVH? Of course not! It is expressing reverent wonder at the fact that such a lofty and mighty Elohiym pays attention to humble and lowly humankind! The same phrase "ben-Adam" is used in Ezekiel 2:1 and Psalm 115:16.

  • @MFLimited
    @MFLimited 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Not all people struggle with intricate and esoteric concepts, nor do they consider them uninspired by God for lacking simplicity.
    Look at the Trinity, for example.
    I believe David Wilbur is referring to the, very modern, Hermeneia translation of 1 Enoch 71:14 : "And the Head of Days came with Michael and Raphael and Gabriel and Phanuel.......“You are that Son of Man who was born for righteousness, and righteousness dwells on you". This follows the lengthy explanation of The Messiah, the Son of Man.
    If that is to be believed, then Enoch was shown visions of the Messiah, and didn't recognize himself! Is that the case?
    Could it be a more, "I am he as you are he and you are me", sort of thing?
    Then there are many older translations that do not make this claim. For example, the Edwardian R. H. Charles translation reads the entire story in 3rd person. Instead, Enoch is taken into the presence of God and shown the Messiah, “This is the Son of Man".
    2 Enoch is mostly about Enoch”s ascent into the celestial realm and to his heavenly metamorphosis near the Throne of God. 3 Enoch mentions the Angel Metatron. In the Babylonian Talmud and in Kabbalistic texts, Enoch becomes the Angel Metatron and sits beside God (much like Jesus).
    However, there was an earlier Angel Metatron which means that Enoch would be a new, or combined, emanation of the same Angel.
    This stuff is not basic. Some texts indicate that the Son of Man is reflected by Enoch. He is to be like Enoch, in his earthly form.
    In the Prayer of Joseph , Jacob is depicted as the Angel Israel when he wrestles with Uriel all night. He is, and yet he is not. The Book of Daniel has the Ancient of Days and the One who is like Man. The Septuagint reads that the son of man gained access to the Ancient of Days and was brought before that one.
    I understand why a simplistic belief in God and the heavens is needed. Goodness knows, places like the USA, are packed with fools who call themselves Christians whist shooting each other and refusing to help the needy, poor and immigrants as if even Matthew 25:31-46 is too difficult for them to understand!
    I understand that the idea of multiple presences and multiple trinities (or more) are not necessary for the bare bones of Gods message and may be a bit much for many. But not everyone.
    Thank you for posting.

    What is your interpretation of Matthew 22:29-30 and Mark 12:24-25. We don’t have any scripture in the canon that explains this about angels, but we do in extra-biblical writings (like Enoch 15:6-7), and many believe Yahshua was referencing Enoch here. If so, he deems it scripture.

    • @DavidWilberBlog
      @DavidWilberBlog 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Regarding Matthew 22:29, the Sadducees' goal was to ridicule the idea of the resurrection in light of the Levirate marriage law (Deut. 25:5-10), which they thought created an impossible dilemma for the woman in their hypothetical question. Yeshua responded by accusing the Sadducees of knowing neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. First, He explains the nature of the resurrection, which addresses their dilemma, and then He gives a Scriptural response to the fact of the resurrection. Notice that He actually cites which Scriptures He’s referring to in verse 32 when He quotes Exodus 3:6. So there’s no reason to assume He’s alluding to 1 Enoch when He references “Scripture”-He quotes the very Scriptures He's talking about in the very passage! Also, the idea of our resurrected bodies being like the angels isn’t limited to 1 Enoch but part of a broader Jewish discussion concerning the nature of the resurrection (e.g., 2 Baruch 51:10). Since Yeshua's definition of Scripture was in accordance with the biblical canon of His day (Luke 24;44-45) it doesn't make sense to think He was alluding to 1 Enoch 15 when He referenced "Scripture" in Matthew 22. It makes more sense that He was referencing Exodus 3:6, which are the very scriptures He goes on to directly quote from.

    Brother Wilber - kindly read 2 Tim 3:16-17:
    [16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
    So when you say Jude's quoting of Enoch is 'insignificant' - you argument to say the least, leaves a lot to be desired....In fact, i would really love to attend one of those lectures you give, or even read the books you have authored, so that i can get to know where you are coming from with this kind of arguments!
    By the way, read the be Bible with UNDERSTANDING under the influence of the Holy Spirit! He will surely HELP you, by INSTRUCTING YOU IN THE RIGHT WAY!
    Also, remember, most authors keep reminding us that not everything could be included in the Bible - reason - even the world itself could not be enough to contain the literature - e.g. read the Gospel of John 20:30 - 31
    30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
    God bless you - Shalom!

    It was the Pharisees who have canonised the Old Testament into what we now know it as. They also edited it, numbered it etc after the destruction of the second Temple at 70CE. They chose which books went in (edited of course) and which ones stayed out (the External Books like the Book of Jubilees, Enoch etc). They are also the ones who gave Jesus to the Romans.
    The reason they chose the way they did had to do with the ongoing dispute between them and the Sadducees (צדוקים) who were the descendants of Aaron and the high priests (from the house of Zadok) (צדוק) of the temple for nearly a thousand years by divine decree.
    The Sadducees hid the Dead Sea Scrolls Once they were removed from the priesthood by Antiochus Epiphanes, who sold the priesthood and caused this ancient rift in Judaism of the time. Eventually, the Pharisees would have the upper hand and form Judaism as we know it to this day, with its lunar calendar etc.
    The Dead Sea Scrolls shine a light into the original Jewish/Abrahamic holy scriptures that paint a very different picture to their edited versions edited by the Pharisees. For example we learn that the original Hebrew calendar was based on the sun and was incredibly accurate! 364 days with an extra week every seven years and an extra fortnight every 28 years, giving a perfect 365 and a quarter days a year. The year started on the Autumn Equinox.
    To say the book of Enoch is nonsense which is what you are suggesting, based on the fact it was edited out by the Pharisees is nonsense in itself.

    Depends on which Enoch, because Enoch in one version never is told he is the messiah, he is told that the anointed one he sees is the messiah and the Lord of spirits forsakes him not. The left side on the screen on the website I found connects very well with the Bible we have today, I don’t know what’s going on with the second side unless someone was just having trouble translating it. But yeah no Enoch was referring to the coming messiah the whole time. I think we just need to do deeper videos analyzing this. Because I think it may be scripture that the later church didn’t want to truly verify. I am willing to see these other texts and see if God’s wisdom is in it, for God is my teacher, not me or man. I just pray for God to show me. Keep digging my family keep searching. God is allowing much knowledge to be unveiled now, while the world is giving false knowledge. Let’s look into it while we can.

      On Axis. Yes it does. 71 verse 14 " And he came to me and greeted me with His voice and said unto me, "This is the Son of man who is born unto righteousness and righteousness abides over him and the righteousness of the head of days forsakes him not."
      15. And he said unto me " He proclaims unto thee peace in the name of the world to come;
      For from hence has proceeded peace from the creation of the world, And so shall it be unto thee forever and forever and ever.
      16 And all shall walk in his ways since righteousness never forsakes him.
      With him will be their dwelling places and with him their heritage.
      And they shall not be separated form him forever and ever and ever.
      17 And so there shall be length of days with that Son of Man, And the righteous shall have peace and an upright way, In the name of the Lord of Spirits forever and ever."
      It can be interpreted in different ways, but just before 14, Michael took Enoch before the Head of Days and all the angelic hosts and then refers to Enoch as the Son of Man. It is a stretch to say that Michael meant that the Father, the Head of Days was the Son of Man, though in a certain sense He is, the Father and Son being one.
      An understanding of the Torah and Psalms and the teachings of the Orthodox churches on Theosis, clear up an accusations of heresy or blasphemy.
      Just as Moses was a god to the children of Israel, Melchizedek was King of Salem and High Priest of Yah on earth, who Abraham paid respect to and David is identified as the Messiah in certain allusions in the Psalms;
      Enoch was through his sanctification, translation and transfiguration, was now so full of Christ's Spirit, that he represented Christ the Messiah, the Son of Man, in the vision.
      See my channel for more along these lines.
      Peace and blessings.

    Only one thought on this - his explanation about why Jude quotes the book of Enoch doesn't fully stack up because Jude attributes the prophecy to Enoch the 7th from Adam. Either the words he quoted were from the Enoch in Scripture - which implies the book itself was written by him - or they weren't, and if they weren't then surely Jude is confused and his quote is a clear error?
