  • Although Paul generally dislikes shopping malls he knows that others seemingly like them so if you are one of these people, then this is for you (if you also don't like them then watch another video instead!)

      There is not metro in Bishkek. If the USSR still existed it would have one by now as it's surpassed 1 million citizens...

    Hi, really like you content. I got two questions: how much for that kebab lunch? And about the face masks... Do people really not care at all that there is a pandemic going on?

      Hi, thanks! Actually I had a kebab lunch today! It cost 300 soms which is about 3 dollars. That included the meal, a huge Turkish style bread, a little Turkish style tea and the service charge. Apart from the canteens, all cafes here include a service charge on the bill so you don't need to leave a tip. Nobody here really bothers with the face mask it seems it's not needed anyway as I just had a test yesterday and was negative despite being among many people every day and neither them nor me wearing a mask.

    How did you learn about the history of when the shopping malls were built?

    • @PaulintheUSSR
      @PaulintheUSSR  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nice, I learnt from old Soviet postcards and books of Bishkek. The shopping mall used to be the main state run shopping centre of the city during the USSR. The swanky back part was added quite recently.

      Hi friend, only just checked my messages now, which is too late for you I guess. As you probably saw, there are a few big shopping centres along that main street. Hope you had a great time!

    u have my favorite british accent, what is it again? Or is it SA? To my ears it transcends the posh-humble spectrum

      Thanks Cyril, well my accent started off as British for sure, but after many years of living abroad has probably altered somewhat!
