  • Join me as I explore Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. We start our journey at Ala-Too Square, the city's main square known as Lenin Square during Soviet times. Now, it’s named after Manas, the national hero of Kyrgyzstan. You’ll see the impressive statue of Manas and learn a bit about its history.
Next, we walk through Oak Park, a beautiful green space filled with oak trees. Here, I hop on a fun train ride and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. We also try traditional Kyrgyz drinks like Maksym and Aralash.
Our adventure continues to Victory Square, where we see a huge monument dedicated to the victory in World War II. The three arches represent a yurt, and there’s an eternal flame burning in memory of those who fought. Don't miss the stunning snow-capped mountains in the background.
Then, it’s off to Panfilov Theme Park, which feels like stepping back in time with its old Soviet-era rides. From bumper cars to a ride through traditional yurts, it’s a mix of nostalgia and fun.
As the day winds down, we head back to the hotel, reflecting on all the cool things we’ve seen and done. Bishkek is a city full of history, culture, and natural beauty.
What was your favorite part of Bishkek?

Hello Maarten, the first statue belongs to Chingis Aitmatov who was a renowned Kyrgyz author known for his lyrical writing about Central Asian culture and human resilience. He studied in Moscow and wrote deeply emotional stories exploring themes like cultural identity and the human-nature relationship. His work remains highly regarded globally.
