Such a talented player. In his early days of his career he only dealt with double centuries.I could still remember watching this game. Kambli was the very first batsman who took Warne apart.
Vinod Kambli is one of the most stylish and talented cricketers in that era. Very Brian Lara like style. Unfortunately he lost the career after the 96 world cup.
Kambli was more gifted than tendulkar , however tendulkar was industrious And well disciplined to make records after records . Sadly Kambli just vanished in the wilderness .
A Big No...Check his statistics, He was played well first of his career, but suddenly he fell to bad performance, thats it .... his talent was above sachin tendulkar
Captain Sachin and selector Ajit Wadekar of Mumbai tried very hard to accomodate Kambli in team at expense of Dravid or Ganguly but he failed. Dravid was dropped from One day side branded a slow test player. Ganguly was benched as 12th man In 1st edition Sahara Cup 1996 for 3 games by Captain Sachin to accomodate buddy Kambli who failed. He replaced out of form Azhar then and later in 1999 he replaced an injured Azhar again under Captain Sachin but again failed. Laxman was not even in team regularly till 2000 Aus series. Why are people falsely blaming BCCI and caste for Kambli's inability to rise to occassion despite repeated chances due to Sachin Tendulkar? Then like a sore loser he blamed Sachin for not backing him!
He never got discipline issue , you can measure his effort in world cup final with srilanka . Only thing he miss that his caste , no wonder he change the religion .
What a precociously gifted batsman Vinod Kambli had been.... I could still remember his initial couple of years in the international arena, '93-'94, in which he had been a very consistent and flamboyant young batsman to watch with great flair, in contrast to his compatriot Sachin Tendulkar who had been a solid yet more sedate Gavaskar-like material. In fact, I do remember this particular game and the over too quite clearly for two reasons. One is the hammering Warne got by this rookie gifted batsman who promised so much by then. The other is it's during this over that I came to know that Lara had gone on to make 320+ not out against England in the other part of the world, who went on to score 375 the following day breaking Sir Garry Sobers' then record of 365*. These videos send you back in memory lane where the game of Cicket had its true essence in it unlike now. In terms of sheer Cricketing talent, Vinod Kambli could have matched or even surpassed Tendulkar, but his career was cut short prematurely, partially due to his own faults too. Yet the selectors too should have given him a proper second chance rather than sidelining him for good quite unfairly after only one single failed series (WIs tour of India, '95), especially given his early success and the fact that what a precocious talent this guy had been, sadly it was not to be. In that respect, VVS Laxman had been mighty lucky to have had survived through his early vulnerable/shaky period of 3-4 years from '96 to '99/2000 until he blossomed into a world class batsman who, along with seemingly ever rock-solid Rahul Dravid, went on to become a master of bad wicket play. Quite clearly, this is nothing but double standards by the same selection panel. To their credit though, we could see the best of Laxman at least, but the case of Kambli had been one of the greatest "if"s of '90s; a player who had been far too good to have been omitted from Tests (his forte had been primarily in the longer version/format though he was quite a capable batsman in ODIs as well ..., much like VVS too !...) without any *proper* second run after a single failed series in '95 in favor of Saurav Ganguly. The fact that Kambli couldn't play the short ball has been nothing but a myth propagated by those who had not watched him play at length, or by those who had wanted to dismiss him deliberately for some reason. Yes, he failed in that one single tour; WIs tour of India in '95, to some short-pitched deliveries/bouncers, yet he was quite a capable player who could've easily overcome that slight hiccup had the selectors persisted with him and given him at least a few more games instead of dropping him from the squad at the age of 23-24. Even in terms of playing the short balls / bouncers, he was not someone like Saurav Ganguly or Michael Beven who simply had got no answers to it. It had been more of a short-term vulnerability given the circumstances in contrast to the more permanent inability like in cases of the latter two; Ganguly and Bevan. The fact of the matter here is that, while some have been able to flourish to their full potential or at least to a considerable portion of it, there had been certain others who too could have achieved pretty much the same level of greatness yet have withered to be much lesser mortals in the end, may be due to many reasons and unfavorable circumstances.
When he was dropped frm test cricket his avg was 54 and surprisingly no second chance was given to him in test cricket where he was fastest 1000 run scorer. He was not even picked for england tour against which he had scored double century. When he was dropped from one day for the first time in 1996, his avg was above 40. And he was the only century maker in 1996 worldcup after sachin.

If kambli would have put little bit of effort and politics was not played with him. Then he would have been the Brian Lara of India. His batting style and flamboyance on the cricket pitch is very similar to Lara.
I always believed Kambli was more talented then Tendulkar.
Abhijit Mehta absolutely, unfortunately there was no body to guide him, very sad....he had issues with shotpitch deliveries, but that could have been solved with proper coaching.
no
Yes but less disciplined
Abhijit Mehta
CHANDRAKANT PATIL the school record that both of them made kambli made more runs and people were more impressed by him than Tendulkar...........and they were surprised why he did not get a chance earlier than Tendulkar.
Vinod kambli such a Classic Player
My फेव्हरेट great कांबळी
Vinod Kambli was the one successfully took on the mighty West Indies and hit double century. It was a great feat considering he did it against great fast bowlers like Ambrose, Walsh ,Ian Bishop etc who were absolute horror to batsmen in 80s & 90s.
Same odi where Sachin vs McGrath took place for the 1st time in international cricket. Stunning catch from Taylor to dismiss Sachin of McGrath's bowling
Gavaskar ki jali Kambli ko acche khelte dekhke 😂
no bro gavaskar was his fan he even gifted him his expensive watch after a good innings he played, that watch is still with him and still special for him as it was given to him by his idol.
I remember, Sh. Gavaskar taking over as Interim Coach for this tournament in Sharjah.
Cambli was classic batesman.. no doubt about it..

3:11 Subhash Ghai enjoying the thrashing
He was capable to win 1996 World Cup final against srilanka but some people in audiance treated nuisance.
Because of dalit cricketer he had to loose his career. This is true. Now, the selecters are brahmins Ravi sastri , Sunil gavaskar etc., that's the reason Sanju Samson and Riki BOI names are not considered this world cup 2019
You stupid...
Everywhere seeing castism..
Such an amazing talent....such a waste of talent....such a shame....

nearly equalled to sachins talent he had....
vijay kumar luy6r6u5u
More than Sachin
Way better than Sachin,You can still compare them in the match when they played together.
vijay kumar, way more than Sachin.
Better player of spin than Sachin , because of agile footwork ,just like Lara , but Sachin was way better against fast bowlers.
This was when warne was in prime
