Literally the best gift ever. And now I can be aesthetic
LOL, you did not even talk about sound quality, which will be the most important concern for any potential buyer. Did you even test a single one of the players you put on the list, or was it all random?
Okay since the dislike button is already out, let the comment section be your warning. DON'T BUY ANY OF THIS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE SONY WALKMAN IN THE LIST Consider looking for garage sales, thrift shops, and heck, even the Facebook Marketplace. Start off with cheap yet reliable models from Sony, Aiwa, Sanyo, Panasonic, etc. and none of the "new and modern" bullshit. You can at least snag one starting from $20 that is at least working and decent cosmetic condition. Or if you have the extra budget go for the early to late 90s slim model players if you want quality build and sound. If you want a recorder, either get a cassette deck or get a cassette corder from the same brands mentioned. Trust me and the other commenters here, going for the older players are suited for the long run.
ByronStatics isn't worth it. Jensen sucks. But once you do have the money, walkman is the way to gooo. or if you have the money to burn, buy a cassette player, receiver and speaker.
While I do own a few proper Sony Walkmans (a Sport and a more 90s Walkman) I do actually reccomend the By-Heart player if you don't want to get too much money into just having a modern, new player to listen to tapes. It's not a perfect unit, but I think it's just fine for the asking price. Haven't had any issues with mine, I use it quite a bit. So I'm not over using my older Sony models.
I'm looking for a decent casette player. Should support type I/II/IV, dolby, NR. Low drift&flutter. Should have a line out. Is there a decent recent unit like this ?
You won't find a portable cassette player with all of these features (including a line-out) anymore. In fact, there is only one Chinese manufacturer that still manufactures portable cassette tape mechanisms. All "modern" cassette players these days are basically the same (and terribly cheap, very bad quality). The most "affordable" portable cassette player with everything you've been waiting for might be a Sony WM D3. If you have more money to spend, and wanted something really serious, the Sony WM D6C is the best choice for you! Look at Ebay, there are sometimes good deals…But prices for Walkman are going crazy.
@@cookinuts1923 Thanks for the response ! I've been looking around since I posted the question, and got the bad news ... checking techmoan & stuff. I hope Sony sees the demand and brings back a decent casette player. I'm sure they would sell better than those android phones they re trying to sell as walkman.
Since Dolby Labs doesn't license Dolby NR anymore that's out. Type II/IV cassettes aren't being made anymore. All of that can be found on vintage portables.
The speaker of most of these "walkman" clones are right on top of the tape... Who is the genius that made that choice, considering that a magnet like the one in the back of a speaker is basically the best thing to wipe a tape? :D
I bought a SONY WM-BF22 (used of course from 1988) off ebay. It is in great condition and the seller said they had recently changed the belts. I paid £12 including postage. The key thing with vintage models is making sure the belt has been changed. If you don't want to have to fiddle about yourself.
@@suicidalrezboy4969 with the right equpment, cassettes will sound actually very good but none of the modern rubbish shown in this video won't reproduce anything that i would describe as "high fidelity".
Spoiler alert: You put ByronStatics at #1!? Why?? If anything that's probably the WORST cassette player ever made! The sony should have honestly been #1 My personal top 5 would be mostly if not all Sony
I liked Sony Sports model in the late 80’s or early 90’s. I had one just a cassette player and one with a radio cassette player, too. I still have my mother’s one with a radio that is a cheaper brand. I think about 4 years ago that I bought one cassette player with UBS cable to play in the car. My favorite brand for a cassette player is Sony. A good sound quality.
I rarely comment on videos but I just have to here. Please stay away from all of these. One of them was Mono! You can easily buy an older Sony for around the same money as any of these if you look around and any maintenance is easier than you think if it needs any. Just deplorable to recommend any of these
The Jensen one is actually pretty good for the price ($20), but otherwise, I agree. You might as well buy an old Walkman and restore it if you're willing to paying those kinds of prices.
Best? Are you high? They are complete dogshit! On eBay you can find so way better on old models even with the same price. Those model you showed on this silly clickbait are horrible and give a bad name to the cassette culture and music itself.
Absolutely facts. I have No. 2 on this list, the Sony one that is 100 million times better then any other ones on the list. It’s actually a really nice player and probably the only good one on the list. I got it for $3 at a garage sale and I’m gonna look for a better Sony but the one here is awesome
@@0fficialselena__90 I suggest a sony ex like 662, 672 etc, the ones in late 90s first 00, but those without remote control so you get everything on the player itself. That's true, but if you want one that's actually working and doesn't look like someone ate it, digested it, and shat it out, it's going to cost you around $50. Most people don't want to pay that much for something they're not even sure they'll like.
I actually got the same Jensen cassette player in the number 5 spot on the video, I must say, it’s very good option for someone who broke it.
