I have just ordered my Xpower. I also hesitated about the green given the satin (not full matte) finish but on reflection decided (a) it's still car paint so will be robust and (b) since it's the best colour, and you live only once, I'm getting it in green. I take the point about grey being a true sleeper option but unfortunately it makes the car look rubbish - go and look at any grey MG4 parked in the street. Similarly, black was an option but it disguises the striking looks of the car, so I also struck that from the list. If I had to choose a colour other than the green I'd go blue or orange.

Well done with the video! Here in Australia, the first MG4s only reached the dealers last week (Jul 10/11 2023). I doubt any end buyer has received delivery of any yet. Here we have base model 51kWh Excite and then the Essence with either a 64kWh or 77kWh battery. The Essence has a black roof like the UK trophy & 18" wheels. We are hoping by late Aug/early Sep MG Australia will announce the X-Power and disclose it's price.

Did you ACTUALLY launch it at any point? I thought the acceleration was monstrous already but when I used launch mode (standing start with both pedals pressed then release the brake (and hang ON!)) it’s other worldly.
I appreciate you were in the wet though so it won’t have shown it’s best even if launched.
Got mine on order and I’m watching everything I can find to tide me over till I can get my hands on mine.
Unfortunately not even off cam it was so so wet all day, I’ll be getting another go in one early next month and hopefully it’ll be dry. From on board numbers during testing the 10-60mph pulls we did we’re about 3.0-3.5 seconds in the damp it’s madness it’s so so fast.

Had my Xpower for a week, already done over 1100km :) great car for the money, Here in new zealand not many been sold yet, so a real sleeper car :)

When a petrol head raves about an EV you know the tide has turned - there are now exciting & exhilarating EVs out there able to compete with any ICE hot hatch for a fraction of the price & cheaper to run and live with :)
I think it’s always because the fact is it’s the way of the world but 100% they have got so much better for sure.
I have a full dry performance review of this same car coming to our channel this weekend with a dry weather review plus 0-60 tests 🙌

I like the green but would be concerned about the matt finish. Have to treat it extra carefully when washing and repairing scratches more expensive
I want one of these, but don't know anything about care for different car finishes. What would you need to do differently compared to a gloss paint when washing? Could you still use a pressure washer?
The key to caring for a car with a matte paint finish is not to flatten that rough surface that absorbs the light. If you think of the surface of paint as a mountain range with peaks and valleys, it’s important to avoid using abrasive cleaning products that will flatten the peaks or hard paste waxes that will fill in the valleys. Doing so will produce more of a glossy finish on your matte painted car.
Owners of cars with matte paint are advised to start with a pre-wash using snow foam, followed by a rinse with a pressure washer to remove dirt and other abrasive particles, which could scratch the paintwork if left in place. This stage is particularly crucial for matte paint finishes because damage is harder to fix than on gloss paint. For the contact part of the wash, a gloss enhancer-free shampoo can be applied with a wash mitt. It’s fine to use insect or tar remover on matte paint as well.
When it comes to paintwork protection, a liquid wax or ceramic spray is recommended because this will produce a thin coating over the contours of your matte paint surface rather than filling in those valleys in the paint. As we’ve said, it’s crucial to avoid using hard waxes, polishes or scratch removers on matte paint.
You can use a pressure washer but I know car care friends have told me you should use a lower pressure sitting and/or hand wash also.
It sounds like it’s not too bad tbh, just get the right products.

It's a nice size. Most EV's so far have been unwieldy SUV's and/or ridiculously expensive. I'd get it in black and remove (or paint) those odd looking orange caliper covers and silver highlights and turn it into a real sleeper.

How does this compare to the Smart Brabus you drove? How did the performance compare between both cars?

There are two things that put me off the MG, average stereo sounds and rear incandescent indicator lights(should be LED)

The stereo seem ok but I’ve heard worse the lights I have to be probably the only thing I can think of and I tend to agree 🙌
Is it an actual matte finish?
Yes it’s a proper Matte finish so you have to think about car care etc when cleaning and looking after it etc.

Should have come to a full stop held the brake pedal down, put the exhilarator pedal down waited for the click and released the break pedal for a full launch.

For this engine power I would have preferred the 77 kWh battery of the extended range model
I can’t only presume it’s down to cost and with the motors that are in it this was a better costing option to get it to the price point that MG wanted. I’m only speculating of course but just my thoughts.

have test driven MG Marvel and liked it very much but honestly this MG4 Xpower seems more interesting and gives one Smiles per miles.

@@PeakPerformanceReviews thats strange that you still don´t got the Marvel R bc here in Sweden we've had it for quite a while now. the MG4 Xpower starts at approximately 50.000 punds or 500.000SEK. when you buy an MG, the biggest concern is probably the resale value, which will not be that very good.
Yep still haven’t got it unfortunately, gutted as it looks more premium inside, does it feel quality inside? Yes unfortunately that definitely is the bigger negative with them unfortunately 😥
@@PeakPerformanceReviews it was last summer that I tested the Marvel and I got the feeling that the materials were of good quality and very comfortable and it had speed resources and felt very nimble. i don't know even though i liked the marvel very very much the MG4 seems more appealing honestly. if I were to buy an MG4, it would probably be the one with 250HP because I probably don't need 430hp. MG4 Extended range Trophy 250hp is probably enough. unfortunately, I'm stuck in a private lease on a VW Taigo for one more year, then I'll switch to MG.

I’m 90% sure I’ll be getting the car again fairly soon. The 0-60mph test will definitely happen, the track may be a little harder to arrange but I’ll see what I can do 🙌
How is one peddal driving compare to tesla Y
Seems every bit as good if not better, it’s been a while since I’ve been in a Tesla actually but it definitely feels and works really really well.

From my experience I was remarkably impressed with the one pedal driving. I wasn’t expecting it to be nearly as good as it was, even coming in hot to dual carriageway roundabouts it knew an appropriate amount of braking and was a doddle to mildly “hoon” around a back lane with a nice balance rather than feeling stop/go as the two forces can be.
Haven’t tried a Tesla so can’t comment that far but I found it really good FWIW.
Yep and this one works on or without an adaptive method too so you can have it actively doing enough to stop you should traffic come to an abrupt stop I.E it’ll modulate the required force as and how required it’s great 👍
How is the mid range acceleration. I have experience with evs and drive a c40 twin now. Considering this as a second car for rhe wife. I find even the Volvo feels lazy in the mid range. I know this is an ev issue given the single gear set up. How is this?
No it really has relentless punch all the way through it’s acceleration from say 10 all the way up to 70-80ish I feels like it give the same gulp of power and torque at any given speed unless under 20% on the battery

My only problem with my MG4 is MG motor uk. The MG4 has so many software and mechanical problems but when you contact their customer service manager Gary Smart he say that it’s just a feature. A few examples under tray not designed to fit correctly causing it to bulge, oil leak from the front/Rear suspension and for myself the AC unit of the car sounds like an old Toyota Argo, which Gary say is normal he even admitted to me it’s a cheap unreliable noisy unit that the 7 year warranty does not cover (AC unit is only covered for 6 months)
From an MG4 owner please don’t buy one. Ride is nice but the quality and service from MG motors uk is sub par.
That sounds insane, I’m not doubting you but I find it so hard to believe a manufacturer would do that. Try raising it to MG global.

I does it have the steering wheel wobble at 70mph? And when. Accelerating between 60 and 70mph. It's been mentioned on the forum by a few people and apparently the mulan 4wd has the same issue?
I definitely didn’t noticed or feel anything like that at all and I was on motorways numerous times at 70mph.
@@PeakPerformanceReviews it feels like a motor frequency issue. Perhaps in the wet you never felt it. If you could would you take it out in the dry and see?

There's no panoramic roof or sun roof option. Just the black interior. Would've been lovely to have the option of a lighter interior
Was about to say there is no Pano roof which is a shame unfortunately, that being said it feels very roomy and spacious inside so you get nice visibility and light coming in anyway. Thanks for watching Murray, honestly go get a test drive and see what you think.
