Looks to me like the barge sides are too shallow for the material to ‘flow’ . It might have been on too long, got wet, set up a bit. Explains why some of the braces look a little dinged up.
I have a strange feeling that this boat had a accident where someone got buried that was related to the family that owns the boat so this was their solution to making it safer

$300 an hour driver and excavator v's 3 guys for $10 per hour This is why it costs more people.
How did you get the excavator on the boat? Looked faster.
It loses all its relaxation effects when you take out the people unloading and are not able to watch the pile slowly fall via gravity.

The excavator will exit easily when the barge is parked close to the dock
