    I’ve had this radio for about a month now and have had a lot of fun with it. I had more QSO’s on field day than with my larger Yaesu rig. Only thing I would want to change is the tuning knob. When I put it in my bag afraid of snapping it off.

    FYI TX Drive changes the speech compression. Quote from DL2MAN. (tr)uSDX comes with native Speech Compression.
    Level can bet set in Menu 3.3 "TX Drive".
    Level 1 is Linear
    Level 4 is alround compromise (Good Compression, good audability)
    Level 8 is removing all the Amplitude Information, and regardless if you whisper or shout, it will always TX Full Power (at the expense of speech quality).

    Very interesting video. A friend of mine and me built our own tr(u)sdx radios from a kit, we got from Manuel, and we love it. Please do more videos on the tr(u)sdx.

    I'd love more vids as you assemble your portable station, select external accessories, key, mic, power, etc. And a few more on deployment, set-up and use. Keep 'em coming! 73 de WZ9U

    What a fun looking radio....good for someone thinking about some fun in the field and want to keep cost, weight and space down to a minimum.

    Thanks for the very informative video. And an extra thank you for the pleasant English speed, which makes it understandable even for me with a different beak.Hi

    I've come to think of the (tr)uSDX as a "pre-QSX". It has many of the features at a size and price described by Hans G0UPL for the QSX many moons ago. The (tr)uSDX team and current owners/experimenters are currently working on implementation of the higher HF bands. The only thing missing then from what was described for the QSX would be an onboard sound card.

    • @TechMindsOfficial
      @TechMindsOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      On board sound card would be awesome, especially for data modes. I know data modes can already be achieved, but the simplicity of an on board sound card and com port would be awesome! Thanks for watching thanks 🙏

    Great video, was looking for a QRP radio that I can safely take out in the sea, not fancying taking the IC705 near the salt water - reckon I can use the truSDX Peter VK3YE style with a vertical and a ground strap for some spring-time paddling once the weather gets better here in the UK!

    Neat little device, shouldnt have the firmware locked down like this though. Luckily it should be no problem getting around that. People will clone it, but if it was an open source project, we could at least send a donation to the creators after we buy the clone. Look at MMDVM, buy the clone and send the project a $20 donation, everybody gets more money. Since this is trying to be proprietary, that is likely impossible.

    god i love these qrp radio's that matt reviews, great for coast walks and pota,
    but i have more fun using all my budget qrp radio collection with my RM Italy BLA-600, yeah i know it defeats the object but when your qso is about conditions it gets a laugh both ways, especially the audio quality ect

    • @TechMindsOfficial
      @TechMindsOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would be exactly the same! I’m not really a qrp kinda operator, although the best fun I had with a rig was the G90 which had 20 watts. Just above QRP and just enough to make a contact. Thanks for watching sir 👌

    I find it a bit disapointing that you're not refering to what actualy is going on here.
    There are many cheap small SDR radio's available, the major differences are here
    * The fact that Guido uses a 8 bit Atmel processor like is used on Arduino boards
    This CPU is absolutely not equiped to do this kind of work, stil it does !
    * The way how Guido creates the different modes differs from the usual I/Q dual mixer method
    Al to be found on his webside.
    * After software upgrade a couple of verry nice features have become available like
    build in option that eliminates the need for a sound modem if you're doing digital modes,
    and even a spectrum display on the tiny little screen.
    * You're demo shows USB with 4kc bandwith... who would do that these days.
    1.8kc would be much more convenient.
    * You have to get use to the control, but there's a lot more you can do with the rotary dial and the little pushbutttons, avoiding the need to dive into the menu's
    Ergo, this radio is a genious peace of work, which sadly is hardly recognized.

    I like this radio. But I think I’ll wait for 15,10 meter options. Or better yet. 10,12,15,18 meters. I can only dream of 6 meters!

    Really want to buy this, but not having 15m is a dealbreaker. I know they have a board to add it, but the price gets much higher to do so.

    So this is a closed source for the firmware? No way of upgrading otherwise? What if I change my call sign?

  • @d0hanzibi

    Neat idea for such versatile standalone pocket radio, very likeable!
    But this gatekeeping with baked serial and callsign into firmware? Wow thats amazingly bad
