  • BL Mazda 3 (2009 to 2013): Replace the rear sway bar link rods.
This is an easy job. If you are a newbie home mechanic, then I encourage you to do this job yourself. You really can do it. My favourite days of my childhood were doing mechanical work with my dad, and it's a job like this that would make a fantastic first off job. Have the faith. Do it yourself. You do not need to pay a mechanic for this one.
Tools: Penetrant (eg WD-40) , 14mm long-throw spanner, 14mm ratchet spanner, 5mm Allen key. If you are going to re-use old link rods, then please tidy up the threads with an M10 x 1.25 die.
    Cameraman: Egon from Estonia.
    The Dude: Paul from Perth.

I guess I'll start :D Thanks for your 3 BL tutorials. It's much easier to tell what's what and where in the car thanks to them. I have also watched other videos and that has motivated me to look for the source of that ratatatata sound when I switch the air circulation mode.
    Greetings from Poland!

Heeeyyyyy!!!! Dzien dobry Gabriel! I often have Polish and Czech people stay at my house. There is a Polish girl here now actually. I've also been to Poland. I love your country!
With this ratatatata sound, is it cyclical? I'm wondering if it is something to do with the blower motor hitting something when you select recirculate mode.
      Paul in Perth, Australia.

Very cool. I just got a Mazda 3 2016 and I think it would benefit from this type of part change. I'm off to order the parts!!!

I had a fair idea what was involved, but checked this and a couple of other videos out ( on this and lower control arms) before taking the plunge this morning. Each linkage took around twenty minutes to remove. It would have been half that if I had a 14mm ratcheting spanner, but it was unfortunately the only size I was missing.
    Thanks for the info.
And incidentally I'm also Australian, so no far flung appreciation today sorry.

I'm sure Mazda has an official torque specification. I just did them up tight.
