My wife gave birth to my child in Australia ongoing treatment for my child at the hospital allowed my wife to get a bridging visa to stay an extra 6 months. But it also delayed her partner visa by a few months. It only takes uoto 2 years to get the 309 and a few months later for the permanent subclass 100. But if you submitted your application after the new changes takes affect the temporary subclass visa processing time is now 8 years. . But that won't apply to you if you submit the application earlier
