    I've watched a few of your videos using your big beast machines, and was thinking of getting a starter for myself. Your views as an expert will be invaluable before I splash the cash, even on a cheaper device. Thank you so much! I will look for further tips on little upgrades to make it more capable.

    It's good to see that you're going to hit this market segment, as not everyone can afford even a $500 ebay 3040.
    There's not many videos out there covering these bottom dollar CNC machines, and both what they "can" do, and what they can be made to do.
    As it sits I see these 3018 pro's out there with the dustguards on the sides, yet for the life of me, I can't figure out WHY they didn't tie these guards into the uprights and stiffen up the entire frame.
    Hell they're cutting the acrylic on a laser.....putting in a handful of holes and a couple of clearance cutouts out would been a trivial matter.

  • @canadianavenger
    @canadianavenger 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looking forward to this series! I do think you'll find that laser woefully under-powered. Unfortunately it seems the latest trend in marketing these things is to list the input power, and not the optical power, So that 5500mW laser is actually more like 2000mW on the output. Having said that, it will still etch and cut some materials.

    Hi there roger, I have a industrial cnc router but am finding that laser cutting is going to enable me to cut smaller material for dolls houses ect. so could you recommend a diode laser that would be able to cut 5mm mdf or is that taking the diode technology to the limits. I have found cutting 6mm is all good but 3mm (which I would require Laser for) is going to enable me to actually start making kits and hopefully start to make some money). Btw love your tutorials

    Roger I think your idea is brilliant. I have been running a small Bravapology machine for years with zero issues. BTW this machine is still being sold by Baileigh in the US but it's crazy expensive @ US$1795. The motor is only 40W coupled through a mechanical sleeve to the collet. I have pushed the machine cutting hardwoods. Mind you I keep my feed speeds down and shallow cuts but it works. Putting a 500W motor on your machine makes me wonder if you will be able to stiffen up the frame to make use of that power.

    Hi Roger, really looking forward to this series. It would be nice if the laser could end up cutting thin-ish acrylic parts for maker parts (but understand that could be a stretch). Just as a thought, would that acrylic cutting be able to be achieved with multiple passes or are they such that the focal length would get out of whack as the cut progresses?

    Dear Mr Roger, I just started to make LED NEON signs. Now most neon signs are on a Plexiglass base (or some other plastic base) and the letters/text is carved in the plexiglass and the neon is placed in the carved Pglass. (nice and straight)
    Now Some pieces are pretty big (yesterday made one 175 cm long x 30 cm and will not fit those small machines. Is there any way you might know I can do/use/buy without breaking the bank (just started 2 weeks ago) A CNC machine with frame won't work, unless it's a MONSTER of machine which I can NOT buy ($$) Maybe you know how to, or have an idea how I can solve this problem. I tried to do it without carving the plexiglass but the text looks like I am drunk. Hope you have a solution for my problem. Obviously anyone who can help me...please don't be shy..I can use all the help possible. Thank you.....
